I am soooo excited about getting this last group getting into the RR3 I am doing a happy dance all over my house! For now we're known as Group 14 but we can come up with something snazzier than that.......any ideas??? I've been designated the point person for this group and I hope you all will contact me anytime there is a question/concern of any type. If I don't know the answer, I know Terri is out there somewhere to help us :) I also hope the friendships we build in this group lasts a lifetime. We'll always have a little piece (or should I say border) of each other! There is already a post started so we can show our centers off to the entire board but I'd also like to post ours here as well. If someone doesn't want to have their centers shown as each border is added, please let me know as soon as possible and I'll make sure each group member is aware of this. Okay........ Let's start talking to each other ladies! I can't wait to get to know each of you and to see your centers. I'm attaching the center I plan on using. (I've had it done for over a month :) ) Purplesharon has been given the go-ahead to use a center that is slightly larger than the 24" x24" measurements. But.....it is because of her we are able to have this Group 14! Soooo.....THANK YOU Purplesharon!!!!! And a big shout out to Terri as well. She has worked hard to get this last group into the RR3 and I appreciate everything she has done! Okay...... Let's see those centers!

Group 14 Members:
Purplesharon
Candlequilter
LoriL
OK Darla
Cdcatlovers
Leota

I've named this "Dancing Horses"

I love your center! I'm already thinking about the different border possibilities. This is my first RR as well and I am so excited! Glad to have you in our group! Welcome aboard!

here is my center. measures 28 3/4 x 21 3/4

yes i love cats

Lori L 08-17-2010 06:46 PM

I remember seeing this from a prior post.....wow....this is going to be a large quilt. It's a beautiful panel and yes, we can tell you love cats. :) We'll add "Traveling Quilts" (I like it) to our list of potential names and let everyone else chime in with ideas and their opinions. Everyone else.......we're waiting to hear from you.....

candlequilter 08-17-2010 08:33 PM

Hi, Here is my center for this group. I haven't decide if I should call it "As Time Goes By" or "The Cycle of Life". I still need to stitch around the leaves but hopefully that won't take to long. My niece (cdcatlovers) and I are very excited to be a part of this group. Look forward to getting to know everyone alittle better.
Thanks,
Sherryl

Lori L 08-18-2010 02:55 AM

Sherryl.......where's the picture??? :) Now you've left us all in suspense! You and your niece need to put your heads together to brainstorm and help us out with a name for our group. So far purplesharon is the only one with an idea. I kind of like the name "Traveling Quilts" but one of us ought to be able to throw another name into the hat :) I'm working today and will be driving about 100 miles to get to all of my patients. I'll be thinking, and thinking and thinking. This could mean trouble for all of you in Group 14! LOL

Lori L 08-18-2010 03:02 AM

Sherryl I just found your picture under another post. It's beautiful! You send to me and I'm already going crazy thinking about your 1st border. I have some of the most beautiful Moda faric I bought on vacation in fall colors and I think it's going to be put to use right away!!!!

Ok Darla 08-18-2010 04:14 AM

I like Traveling Quilts.

Sorry about that I guess I forgot to push the right button.

I vote that we adopt "Traveling Quilts" as our name :D

Oh and here is my center for this group
It's named "Double Aster"

Lori L 08-19-2010 06:26 PM

Unless anyone has any objections, group 14 will adopt the name "Traveling Quilts" and we can all get started working on our labels. Speaking of labels.....this is my first RR and I'm not sure what to do for a label. Any ideas?? I like some of the embroidered labels I have seen but I don't have an embroidery machine. I may attempt to hand embroider something......which could be interesting....I've never done hand embroidery. LOL Leota mentioned the pigma pens. Are they just for signing our names or is possible to make a nice looking label using them? Now that we're getting closer to doing this...I'm bouncing off the walls. I've actually considered putting together a 2nd block and then chosing which one I like best. :) It's a good thing I've got santa blocks to put together for the swap or I'd probably be driving myself crazy.

Lori L 08-19-2010 06:38 PM

By the way.....Leota I love your center and the colors you have chosen. Both your block and cdcatlovers are ones I've never seen before.
Sherryl.....I love both names and think either would be great with your center. Good luck chosing!

I just was looking through things and between Purplesharon's center of cats and Cdcatlovers name, I'm shocked we didn't have a name for our group like "The Quilting Kittens" To late to change now! LOL

Leota 08-19-2010 06:59 PM

Lori have you got your 1st block done? I would use that one. Don't put so much stress on you.

Yes I do....I posted it at the start of this thread. I love my center but now I have quilting blocks running through my head :) Don't worry.....I'm not really stressing....just driving myself nuts.

purplesharon 08-22-2010 07:55 AM

i like either name traveling quilts or quilting kittens. any more suggestions?

tlrnhi 08-22-2010 10:10 AM

Those who have International addresses, PM your reciever and ask if it's ok to mail ANY rounds that are done early. We know it can take a bit longer to get from overseas to US.

Those who are US, ONLY mail this round early. The rest of the rounds PLEASE mail on the mail dates. If you will be traveling during a mail date, PM your reciever and ask if it is ok to send early.

We don't want tops to be piled up on people with everyone mailing early.

Ok Darla 08-23-2010 04:25 AM

Okay to send to me early, you just never know with Canada Post. Thanks

Carsey 08-23-2010 04:54 AM

Yea!!

I'm sending to you Mary......as soon as I decide which center I'm sending, I'll get it into the mail.

Terri.....my husband works for the postal service and has already warned me about customs forms. He's going to bring some home to me and will make sure I have them filled out the right way. I definately don't want someone being told they have to pay $100 to pick up their parcel.....OMG!

We decided to go with "Traveling Quilts". I was only joking about the Quilting Kittens because of your cat center and cdcatlovers user name. I love cats but I have 3 large dogs who would disown me if we use that name. LOL "Quilting Kittens" does have a sexy ring to it though :)

Has anyone finished their label yet?? I'm still trying to decide what to do. I'd love to figure out how to put a drawing of a quilt with wings onto my label. My problem is I can't draw a stick person and have it look like a stick person.

Ok Darla 08-23-2010 04:39 PM

For my label I took a piece of fabric, wrote the name of the quilt on it and the date. It is big enough to write a lot on or if there isn't a lot of writing on it, I can cut it back.

I'm playing with some design software to see what I can come up with and then will try to print directly onto a piece of muslin. We'll see how that goes.

Lori L 08-24-2010 06:34 PM

This is what I have come up with for a label. I'm going to try to print onto fabric directly from the printer. We'll see how it goes.

for some reason i couldn't attach my document. I'll keep trying, I really want everyone's opinion so you can tell me if this is what needs to be included on label.

chewboo 08-25-2010 12:29 PM

have fun

Lori L 08-26-2010 09:25 AM

I put together a label using my computer and printed it off onto June Tailor Colorfast fabric sheets (8 1/2" x 11") for inkjet printers.) I was really impressed with how well it came out! I'll send along a pigma pen for everyone to sign with and when it's all finished I'll sew the label into my backing. The fabric sheets came in two different types, sew-in or iron on. Glad I've got this out of the way....wondering how I was going to do a label was driving me crazy. (crazier!)

purplesharon 08-26-2010 07:22 PM

I'm working on my label. I have a idea just got to see if I can get it made. Other than the label my center is ready to send to candlequilter. Sometimes this thing I have to do call a job gets in the way of my sewing time.

Leota 08-26-2010 07:33 PM

I'm still working on my label ... I have the idea now to get the label done ...
I' was going to tell ya'll but I'll wait till I get it done and post a pic. It won't be till after the first when pay day comes... with all the stash i have I don't have any brown :( oh darn... a trip to the fabric store... poor me :D

Lori L 08-27-2010 03:36 AM

Leota I feel terrible that you have to make a trip to the fabric store :) My thoughts are with you! LOL
Purplesharon......work always gets in the way of my quilting. I'm leaving for work to start a 3 day stretch of 12hr days......just as soon as I check out the quilting board first! :)

purplesharon 08-27-2010 05:58 PM

i started a 3 day stretch of 12 hrs each today mtself today. come 8pm sunday i'm off for 2 days. counting the hrs. 8-)

Well let's get through this so we can spend our time doing something we really want to do......quilt! Hope your weekend goes by quickly!

purplesharon 08-28-2010 07:16 PM

2 days down one more 12 hr shift to do. YEAHHHH!

Lori L 08-29-2010 05:23 PM

Made it through another 36hr weekend and heading into a 4 day stretch off. Well.....I've got to get through call tonight but at 8am I'll be OFF!!! Yeahhhhh is right! I need to get some Santa blocks done and get my center off to OK Darla. I hope it doesn't take 2 weeks by mail to reach her but I don't trust the postal service. Don't tell my DH I said that......he's worked for the postal service for 25yrs. LOL

Ok Darla 08-29-2010 05:47 PM

Hi Lori, I will let you know when it arrives. Thanks

As soon as I get it to the mail, I'll let you know right away and then we'll have an idea of how long it does take. I'll be sending to you each time and would like to know if it does take a week or more. Especially when it comes close to the holidays.

Ok, ladies, I have a question. should i add another border to this and make it a rectangle? Should I use solid black or add corner blocks using the colors?

Lori L 08-30-2010 07:14 PM

I like it just the way it is! Why are you thinking it needs to be a rectangle? Leota....you must be doing the same thing I've done today. You've looked at your center so long you think it needs to be changed. LOL I spent the day taking my center apart and redoing it. I'll take pictures in the am and then I'm sending it off to OK Darla before I change my mind again :)
Is everybody else almost ready to send their centers off? When you've mailed your center could everyone let me know so I can keep track....Thanks
