2.5” swap – Let’s Make “Charming Addition”! ***Sign up closes June 5, 2013***

2 Attachment(s)
Many of us have fallen for the Charming Addition quilt posted here (</SPAN>AP&Q, December 2012)</SPAN>: http://www.quiltingboard.com/picture...d-t219966.html

So, what are we waiting for? This swap will help you get started.
</SPAN>
Limit is 30 cotton sets per swapper</SPAN>

1 set = 10 different cotton fabrics, 5 squares of each fabric
</SPAN>

PM me your information (real name and address) to sign up, and let me know how many sets you would like to swap.

For example:

Fraew - 30 Sets
Fraew…
911 Need Fabric Now Ave.
Scrap City, CA 90210

Sign-ups close June 5, 2013. Sets are due to me by June 15, 2013. I will swap them out, and get them back in the mail no later than July 1, 2013.

Use quality 100% cottons only! NO flannels, NO polys, NO homespun, NO eyelets. If in doubt of fiber content, leave it out!

1 set = 10 different cotton fabrics, 5 squares of each fabric.</SPAN>

All sets do not need to be identical. You can use what is in your stash! Each set must contain 10 DIFFERENT</SPAN> cotton fabrics, 5 squares of each. Please double check your counts…then count again. Remember, send good quality cotton fabric.

MAKE SURE to trim off selvages before cutting your squares. Also try to be accurate in your cutting of the squares, so they DO measure 2.5".

Put each set of squares in its own, snack size baggy. LABEL each baggie with your board name and state you are from. For example, my baggies will say: Fraew – CA

Put all your sets in a larger baggie with your board name, real name and address. This way if your envelope gets damaged the PO can return the contents to you.

Include for me an address label with your return information so I can easily stick it on your return envelope.

Include $5.70 for return postage, priority mail. Tracking confirmation is free when I print the labels at the USPS.com site. I will not return your swaps until I have exact postage from you to cover the charges. I WILL NOT ACCEPT PERSONAL CHECKS! You can send me A PO Money order, cash or stamps, concealed in your package. (Do NOT send metered postage as some of these expire before I can get the packages back to you.) ALSO…if you send stamps, send $6.00 worth, it costs more to mail this way. Printing from the USPS site saves money but I can’t use your stamps, I have to pay.

Mail your swaps to me anyway you choose. I recommend the USPS priority mail padded flat rate envelopes which can be ordered for free at USPS.com. If you use the USPS flat rate cardstock envelopes, reinforce the seams with tape so they hold together during shipping.

Mail WITH a Confirmation/Tracking Number. This will alleviate any questions as to where your squares are.

I will return your swapped squares in a bubble padded USPS Flat Rate Envelope.

If your sets cost more than what you sent me, I have no choice to hold them until I get the difference. Thanks for your understanding.

Sign-ups close June 5, 2013. Sets are due to me by June 15, 2013. I will swap them out, and get them back in the mail no later than July 1, 2013.

** If you’re shipping from outside the USA, please mail by June 5th to make sure I get them in time. ** Send me a PM and we can make arrangements for payment of return postage if you will have a problem acquiring US$.

Please feel free to mail your sets early.

General rules for swaps: </SPAN>http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-20154-1.htm</SPAN></SPAN>

If you have any questions or concerns please send me a PM.

I think when I am cutting my 30 sets, I am going to cut another 30 for me since I will be sending ones I like. LOL. I will be cutting my strips sometime over the weekend once I pull out the accucutter to cut my strips. Should not take me too long with the cutter.

KatFish 05-11-2013 02:16 PM

Darn it! You just had to post a link to one of my bucket list quilts. This swap will make it very easy to collect the fabrics for it. I'm in for 30 sets. Sent you a pm.

nls 05-11-2013 05:04 PM

Sounds like fun--just sent a PM.

mollymunchkin 05-11-2013 07:16 PM

Just sent a pm. I am in for 16.

quiltinghere 05-12-2013 04:00 AM

Oooohhhhh this is NEAT! If it's okay with you, I will cut them out before I sign up at the last minute.

Besides my longarm quilting, I have 4 quilts to make from scratch before July 1....one baby quilt, 2 signature quilts and one memory quilt.

If I figured correctly, I'll only need 9 1/2" of fabric to cut 150 2 1/2" charms.....and then there's the box of 2 1/2" strips I have!

Thanks for hosting the swap.

I'm in for 15 now, may increase depending on time and fabrics...I have been working on a charm quilt with green fabrics for over a year and it is more difficult to find greens than I expected...2 inch squares and only about half way there....one of those lifetime endeavors...estimated will need about 350 different greens...not even sure there are that many in existence...alternating with a background color so that helped make it possible...it may end up a twin size instead of full/qn depending on my patience...this swap is much more doable....thanks for coordinating.

benndm 05-12-2013 08:07 AM

I just sent a PM. I'm in for 30 sets. I have them all cut and I just have to label and package. It's going to be a long wait till July 1. Maybe I can finish up some projects before I start this new one.

Checking one of the bucket list! Woo hoo!

Yes, I was hoping there would be enough interest for us to collect enough to make the whole quilt. This will get us pretty close.

Nice try with the "sign up at the last minute". We got ya down. :)

But seriously, sign up when/if you want for as many sets as you like. No pressure, not today anyway. :D

Oh green...I have been collecting green fabrics for something yet to be determined. Really, I have no idea what I am going to make with them.

If you post a picture of your project, I might be willing to share some green 2" squares with you. Hint hint. :)

30 sets all cut? Already? Where is the high 5 button on this thing?

moonrise 05-12-2013 07:32 PM

If I get a chance, I send in more sets than the 16 I signed up for. Hope that's okay. I'll let you know for sure in just a few days. :) I always like to do the maximum number, but the last few weeks have been crazy. Our debit card was compromised due to malware in Mapco gas company's computer system (a lot of other people were affected, too), and our bank was a royal nightmare to deal with despite their assurances that their customers aren't responsible for unauthorized purchases ... and we ended up changing banks ... and then we got a new puppy who is adorable but also a handful ... ;)

Anyway, I'll try to cut some more squares this week. :)

bearisgray 05-12-2013 07:44 PM

Just double checking -

these are for WASHED fabrics?

Fraew 05-12-2013 08:41 PM

@moonrise you certainly have your hands full. 16+/- plus the puppy as bribery is just fine. :D

Pre cuts (unwashed) can be the perfect choice for this swap but use what's in your stash (washed or unwashed). If you are concerned about what you receive, take care to prepare your bounty to fit your needs.

Swappers, if this changes anything for you, my apologies. PM me. Thank you.

Mamaskeeto 05-13-2013 06:30 AM

Oh I've got to be crazy but here I am going to sign up. We really need a support group for 2 1/2" charms. I need to pm once I figure out how many I can do.

createfourpaws 05-13-2013 06:47 AM

I pulled out the accucutter yesterday and have started on cutting my 30 plus sets. This morning I pressed more FQ's. Will be cutting more of them today. This makes it so quick to cut the squares, with just a little bit of prep can cut quickly.

Fraew 05-13-2013 05:01 PM

@Mamaskeeto: This is the support group! :D

@creatfourpaws: I also have a cutter which makes for fast, easy and accurate cutting. I love mine.

createfourpaws 05-13-2013 05:08 PM

mom and I share the cutter ......... it stays at her house which is about 30 ft from my front door. LOL We converted their garage into an apartment for me when she got sick.

Yes now that we finally have it out of the closet is was stored in, will be much easier to use. LOL

I have pressed about 50 FQ's today, cut them down to 13 in squares to make it easier in the accucutter. Fun part is putting all te sets together after layering the blocks.

I can wait to see what comes in for this charming quilt addiction.

Lisa_wanna_b_quilter 05-13-2013 06:54 PM

I'm in for at least 15 sets. I have that many cut. With luck, I'll find more scraps to cut before time is up. I'll PM all the info. you need.

quiltingdragon 05-13-2013 07:26 PM

I'm in, pm'ing now.

barri1 05-14-2013 02:53 AM

I started going through my stash, and ironed most of what I need.. Now I have to wash the floor, as it is a sticky mess from the starch.. Since I use the kitchen counter to iron on, it isn't a problem.. I look forward to cutting the squares, as I find it relaxing in front of the t.v. The only problem I come up with, is since I am in a one bedroom apartment, the place is starting to look like a grenade went off in a fabric store, but I have to admit the place is pretty colorful...

sustraley 05-14-2013 03:15 AM

I have the best little grandson. I watched him on Monday and he took two long naps so grandma could cut squares. Now just have to package them up and send out.

moonrise 05-14-2013 03:19 AM

Okay, I have 30 sets cut now. Can you change me from 16 to 30? Thanks! :D

Everyone is so ambitious! I may have to make more than 9 sets out of sheer guilt lol! I know how moonrise feels - we have a puppy also and it takes over your whole life! He likes to lay on my feet when I sew and pretend he is a shark. Any fabric that swims in his vicinity always gets a nibble. He is so handsome though that I just can't help but laugh.

SheriR 05-14-2013 03:45 AM

Wow wee all y'all are amazing. I better get busy so I'm not the last one to mail!! What a great swap!!!

......when am I getting MY accu cutter... It wasn't under the Christmas tree. It wasn't in my Valentines box. It wasn't in my Easter basket NOR my Mother's Day bag..... :( I guess it's my good ol' mat and rotary cutter.... :(

:D

Now Sheri you know we are close enough that we could always plan a cutting day. LOL If you ever want to come over and use the cutter....we could have a cutting party.

It would be cheaper to drive to Dallas than to set myself up with a new toy. :D
