2.5 Candy Birthday Swap - Closed/Full
 

2.5 Candy Birthday swap is now open for sign ups and will remain open until we get 30 people to join or February 16th.

Hello and welcome to the 2.5" Candy Birthday Swap.
this is how this swap will work:

1 VERY IMPORTANT this is a year long commitment.
2. PM me your name address and your birthday (month and day)
3. Get your packages of 50 unique 2.5" candy squares ready to be mailed.
4. Starting for March I will send everyone a list of who is celebrating a birthday that month so you can send out their "candy present".
5. Birthday person please keep track of who you received your candy from please let me know if you have not received a package from someone.
6. Sit back and wait for your birthday then go to your mailbox and enjoy little packages all month long!
7. Please post when you have mailed your birthday package and of course wish them a Happy Birthday.
I am going to limit this to the first 30 people and only address in the USA (for postage sake Sorry).

In addition the following rules apply:

1. Please make sure to acknowledge everything you receive by posting to this thread. It would be faaaaaaaaaaaboulous if you also include photo(s).
2. Any participant who fails to send all parcels expected in any given month will be immediately and permanently dropped from the mailing list.
3. If that participant has already received parcels for her/his own birth month, that participant will also receive a Negative Feedback annotation.

I think this is a really cute "sweet" idea!

I didn't think that I could play along...worried that I might have 50 birthdays to do in a month! But I see that the limit will be 30 birthdays. So really, I could cut 29 sets whenever I got ready and mail during birthday month.

Count me in for the bday candy. :)

I'm in too!! I'm just crazy about Candy!!! I'll do what Fraew is doing ... cut the sets early and wait for all y'all's birthday!!

It looks like we would only need 29 sets for the whole year. That doesn't seem too tough. Sign me up. Jeeze. Another excuse to cut fabric candy!

I've been cutting candy! I'll be ready to party pretty soon.

What does "candy" fabric mean? Does this mean fabric with candy on it or what?
Do you send 50 squares to each person that has a birthday in that month?

Candy fabric is just a term that we have adopted to represent 2.5" squares.
so all you would have to do if you join is send each person on their birthday(during their month is fine) a package with 50 2.5" square with all different fabrics.
then in return on YOUR birthday you will receive 29 packages in the mail!

Dumb question - whats a candy square? I never did a swap and would like to but now scared!

Candy squares are the groups term for squares that are 2.5". We will be sending 50(different) to each person on their birthday. We are going to have a total of 30 people play and it is a one year commitment.
There are tons of patterms out there to use your little 2.5" squares and I would be glad to send you off in the right direction.

Are you limiting the fabric to only 100% cotton fabric?? Would flannel or homespun be acceptable?? Just wondering what you criteria is about the fabric. Thanks

FOr this swap we are only going to swap 100% cotton fabric...NO Homespun or flannel.
Send only fabric that you would be proud to put in your own quilt.

Just a question for the group? Is this your first time in a swap and have you ever made anything with 2.5" squares???

I have swapped with a group (not on this board) for 2.5 squares we did the swap 4 times in one year and that is where I got addicted.
Then Felicia invited me to join this board and the swap that Sheri is hostessing. I have since joined both of Sheri's swaps.
Projects made from 2.5" squares:
I have made 4 quilts that are sofa cover size...because I have a dog that thinks she in charge in my house. 2 were gifts to the family I nanny and 1 is on my sofa and the other is in my car. The gifts covers where purple and blues and they turned out really nice . Their sofa is royal blue. The car seat cover is an eye spy with all the kid friendly squares that I have received.
I have also made 3 lap size quilts. One that was every other piece white with the other piece bright that was a gift for my daughter in laws mom. The second is one that is called 5 at 5 very cool looks kind of like a film strip. I can give anyone the link for the directions for that one. That was a gift for my friend. and the third one is for my mother in law and it is all greens, reds (not Christmas) beige and pinks. I found a piece of fabric that I fell in love with and used it as a 5" boarder and pulled colors from my 2.5" stash to fill in the center.
If I ever figure out how to post photos I will do so.

I am currently in Sheri's 2 1/2 inch swap, I have also done 6 1/2, 5. and layer cake swaps. I have not made anything using the 2 1/2 inch squares. Actually I just collect cut squares!

Ok my turn. SheriR introduced me to swapping last year. So I swapped until I dropped...for the entire year! I haven't made a single thing with my swap blocks or my 2.5" squares! I am an avid collector as if there's a shortage or something. ;)

this is the quilt I made for my sons mother in law. She was really happy. Said no one has ever made her something so nice.
