I am looking for suggestions for 2009 fabric swap. Noodles or fat quarters.
Some thoughts I had was for April or May doing a spring clean up of noodles or fat quarters where you can send what ever with no quidelines other than washing and drying and FQ;s or noodles whichever is specified for that month. Let me know here what you are thinking and we can work ideas through!! Looking forward to 2009. November will be Christmas FQ's and there will be no swap for December as it will be a hectic month with the Holidays. January 2009......Red Fat Quarters (getting ready for V-Day) February 2009....Pastel colored noodles (Light pink, light purple these can have designs on them) March................100 % Cotton Batiks Fat Quarters (any color...may be pricey...never bought any) April..................Spring Cleaning noodles (any fabric choice you want or recycled noodles from previous swaps that you can't or won't use) May...................Spring Cleaning fat quarter's (any fabric choice you want or recycled fat quarters from previous swaps that you can't or won't use) June...................Fat quarters with metallic thread (any color) July....................10" squares Can be any fabric as long as 100% cotton August...............Halloween Fat quarters Setember...........Novelty Fat quarter (for those I spyers out there!!) October.............Blue Fat Quarters November.........10" pink squares Kyia :D |
Sounds good to me. I'm in.

Quilt4u, Anything you would like to see in the swaps for next year?
Kyia :-) |
I like to be surprised. Love Orientals & Batiks too.

What are noodles?
|
Noodles are 2 1/2" strips that are cut bias to bias so they are between 40" and 44" long.
What about blenders? If everyone called a different color orange, yellow, blue, red, ect. we could end up with a nice pile of different colors at the end. Or maybe Bali and Batik? The only trouble there is that depending on where you live they are very expensive and some people might not want to trade (here it's $10.99 a yard depending on what I buy and where I shop) I just loved how the white on white swap improved my selection of those fabrics (and now that I'm using it in a quilt I wish we could do it again, but I know it wasn't a very popular swap). |

Thank you Elizabeth for answering the question for her. Kyia :D |
Thanks.
I saw them mentioned in a post in the other day but wanted to make sure I was thinking the right thing :D You know how it is when you get old(er) :!: |
Sorry about that, wrong term, it's been a rough couple of days.

I just appreciate the help. SOmetimes I don't get to a computer to check msg. as often as I would like. Kyia |
how about 10 1/2 inch squares with some sort of theme?
one could get four across (from most fabrics) and they are big enough to do a little with and not quite as spendy as fat quarters |
Bearisgray, Thank you for the in put. I think b/c retrogirl is doing the squares swaps I will forward this to her. I don't want to step on her toes but I will mention your comment. I also like the idea of 10 inch squares.
Kyia :-) |
What I think would be fun sometime would be to do the color wheel - any shades of a particular color - either solids or prints that read as one color
Red and Burgundy and Pink Red Orange and Rust and Peach Orange Yellow Orange Yellow and Gold Yellow Green - Olive Green Blue Green -Turquoise - Aqua Blue - Navy - baby blue Violet Blue Purple Violet Red How about grays ? I have very few of them in my stash. |
good idea bearisgray. I will add that to one of the empty months.

added some new ones

SO a Noodle is the same thing as a jelly roll? :?:
You dont have to do every month just the ones you have time(fabric) or interest in? When is the fabric due and to whom? I know I am asking questions that have been answered before sorry |
MsSage, I do not mind the questions. Every month except for December there will be a swap. The swap for each month is specified as to what we will be swapping. Fat quarters, Noodles (strips) or 10" squares. I host these swaps. Each swap is due to my house by the end of that month. I will then swap the swaps out the first week and get them in the mail. If the swaps are late getting to me they will be late going out. The fabrics are all to be 100% cotton, washed, dried and ironed. Everyone should send what they want to recieve. Along with sending the fabric in a Flat Rate Envelope (FRE) the swapper is to also send a return address label, and return postage. A FRE costs a flat $4.80 and this is the easiest way.
Retrogirl02 also hosts a Charm Swap each month which varies in size squares. Her swap is also cenralized where it goes to her house and swapped from there. If you have any other questions, please let me know it is no problem. If you have any questions for Retrogirl02 I am sure she will answer them also. Hope you are able to join some of the swaps. November will be Christmas Fat quarters. Kyia |

It's going to be a colorful year. Intend to join in, but you know how my memory is--just found the July purples I was supposed to send in. :) Ever since I retired six years ago, I keep wondering how I managed to hold down a job. Happy Turn of the Year to everyone; 2009, gonna be fine. (Hold that thought.)

Hello,
I have never been apart of a forum, not really sure how they work,I am looking forward to being a part of it,if I can keep up,but to answer your ??. I would love to swap fat quarters(b-cuz) I know what that is(FQ)lol I on the other hand donot know what a noodle is(:{ ) ughh,is it like a jelly roll strip? Well anyhow look forward to trying to navagate around here... Thanx so much for the? & your time, Tess (Theresa) |
A noodle is what makes up a jelly roll. It is a 2.5 inch strip by Width of the Fabric (WOF) which is between 40-44 " in length. The fabric for the swaps should be washed dried and ironed before being cut. This is so there is equal amount of shrinkage. So the 40-44" will vary. If you have any other questions please ask.
The swap for April is any 100% cotton Noodle. Kyia :D |
