I received my pin cushions last night. I received from neesie the flower pincushion with some adorable crocheted flower pins attached. Oh my goodness they are so cool. There is a photo already posted. Love them!!!!!!!

then, yes I got two in one day!!!!!! From carol I received an adorable owl and a really super nice fat quarter. will definitely be using this guy. He is going to be at the longarm because he can handle more pins. so wonderful!!!!!

Ok, mine are going in mail today. I know, they have been done but I just have not had a chance to get them out and I wanted to add a little something in the package so had to do that. but they will like them I am sure. No, I am not telling where because that might give it away, alright then, I live in west and they are going east across the country to two southern states, not way south, but southern, one state connects to the water and the other has the Ozarks.

calla 05-03-2012 07:54 AM

That is a cutie.............calla Responding to the post and pic of WMJones I think it was on page 36

calla 05-03-2012 08:01 AM

QuilterMomma, I have water on 3 sides, but I am not southern......sheesh..........but than maybe your facing south and you mean northern..............????? And the mountains in my state are Porcupine Mts. ............calla

QuilterMomma 05-03-2012 09:34 AM

Well Calla, from where I am at, my state touches the coastline so I would just waive over a few states at you. Sorry.

It was tough using the tape gun to tape up my boxes. One handed is no fun then I put the label on the wrong side of the box, then one box was the right size but was unsure of postage, then could not fit into flat rate envelope because pin cushion is to large, like them life size right? so had to go with a medium flat rate box because the website would nto calculate postage on a parcel for me or I was inept today so spent a little extra because can't make to post office anyway. This way the post lady, which is real nice to me, will have to come in office and say hello. She loves to knwo what I am sending out and receiving at the office. Now I think I am supposed to give some conf #s to mariposa, better get on that. At least I get to go quilting with a friend on Saturday to make my May DQ. This has been fun ladies.

QuilterMomma what is your May DQ? Dairy Queen cone? And I also had an adventure at the P.O. My box was here at my home, I thought it was a flat rate thingie $5.?? Looked like the size to me... .........well the box was an old box; I was told before flat rate boxes..........and therefore postage was calucated by distance and weight.........I considered changing my items for my partner to a flat rate box however, as I looked at the line behind me I decided I didn't want to wait again in line.........so I just bit on a stick and felt with the extra $$$ the P.O. made perhaps it will help them with their financial problems..............giggle.............calla

calla 05-03-2012 10:45 AM

Oksewnsew..........very nice.........but I don't understand about the silicone inside your pin cushion please explain..........calla

I just got my pincushion from MsGrace. It is one of the "crumb block" ones that she showed pics of. The pic did not do it justice, it is beautiful!! It is an awesome addition to my growing collection. Thank you Jean, I love it!!

Calla, the silicone is the kind you dry flowers in. Several yrs back, I was in a pincushion swap and the fillings came up, and a lady online said use the silicone...it has a little weight to it, and it keeps the pins from rust. Also, there's not the problem of anyone being allergic to it. I usually make a little bag to fit the pincushion, tie it off real good, then put the poly fill around it. The poly gives it a 'soft' feel, but yet the pins are protected from rust... I've made quite a few pincushions using this method and so far, no problems with the pins... ;o) Hope that explains it for you...

i really wonder has anyone ever had an overabundance of rusted pins and needles? i have pins and sewing needles from 20 yrs ago of sewing that have no signs of rust. the pins and needles were in a pincushion that had only polyfil in it. i imagine of someone is living in a high moisture & mold environment they may have problems with rusting pins. i also wonder if these additives that are being suggested as fillers are overall safe. i know i get stuck with my pins or needles in the course of using them or sometimes hold them between my teeth and that whatever the pins are in may eventually find its way into my body in some form.

i could possibly be the only one who gets stuck with my pins or thinks about these things but i use only polyfil and white rice or peas for weight. since living with severe allergies, it causes me to view things from a whole different prospective.

I vote monthly too.

Bonnie,
So glad you liked it. The crumb blocks are very addicting to make!
I have lots of plans for them.
I can't wait to see the pincushion I get.

rwquilts 05-04-2012 05:30 AM

Twinkie, I'm so glad you like what I sent and that the teacup didn't break! Funny story...you saw how I'd written all over the package "fragile" right? When up at the counter with the postal worker...he says...is there any liquid, flammable, perishible, fragile...etc...the same thing they always say...I automatically say..."no"...to which he grins at me and says..."except fragile"? LOL! Ooops! :)

Ms Grace, I loved your pincusions also! And YES! Crumb blocks are sooo addicting! :)

I was in Hobby Lobby, earlier today, and saw some yarn that could double as tiny, pink boas! It was Yarn Bee, Cameo Bulky. Many colors!

I mailed off my 2 pincushions today. I really hope you ladies like them when you receive them :)

I took a pic before packaging up and mailing them today. First off let me say the pic is not the true colors or all that great. I should have took them outside in the sunlight. I couldn't retake another pic cause they were already shipped. So I tried to adjust the colors, but at least ya'll can see what I made..lol! The colors are a clear, crisp medium brights - not these tones.

I love doing swops......can't wait to find out who my swopper is !!!

Oksewnsew 05-04-2012 01:23 PM

I was getting concerned about my other pincushion making it to it's new home. It was mailed on the 30th, went West of me, but at the rate it's taking to get to where it needs to be, I could have driven there faster.. Sorry you're having to wait, maybe it'll be worth the wait - I hope you think so. Not quite sure I understand WHY it's in California as of this morning.

I like all the pincushions!! They are all so different :)

YIPEE!!! I rec'd my pincushy today.... I was CALLA s partner and she sent me the cutest little decorated tin with a velvet hat on top as the pincushy. She posted a photo some where on the thread, cause I remember seeing it. She also enclosed the cutest FROG socks, a tiny quilted sq. magnet, a snickers candy bar( MY FAVORITE), some caramel wearthers, ( gave those to the hubby), and a pretty crocheted wash cloth... We named the pinc... "TIN-PIN" as it also had a few pins enclosed... a very fitting name!! IT is so cute . For now It is placed inside a cabinet where I have several gifts from the QB swappers, that I LOVE To look at and think about the hands that made the treasures be thankful for so many unknown, but commom quilter friends. Hope that makes some sense!!! Thank you so much... made my day!
( my partner should have rec'd hers yesterday or today... in Missouri !!!) Everyhonje has made such cute pincushions!!

JuneBillie 05-04-2012 06:08 PM

I am like you Donna, I like all of the pin cushions. They are each so nice and different, and that is what is so fun about these swaps, and getting to see all the different ones made.

QuilterMomma 05-04-2012 06:27 PM

I am sure the turtle has gotten close to my swap partners, or at least the one not on the coast line but maybe had trouble getting up the hills there. I will check again tomorrow, I know you should get them for sure then.

twinkie 05-04-2012 07:14 PM

That is cute Rhonda. When he saw the word FRAGILE on my package, my DH said, "Do you know what the P.O. worker would say when he sees that word?" I asked him what and he said, "Why don't you package is so that it won't get broken?" I told him I would tell the postal worker that it was hard to protect a package contents when you drive a fork lift over it. Thanks again.
