Jane,
Sorry I missed your reply, lifes been crazy here, as I am sure it gets for all..
Ooooh, yes...please post pics! If y'all ever do another swap I hope I can try to participate...since it sounds like not embellishing them prior to swapping is what most are doing..

Yes, this was an 'embellishing optional' swap since most quilters like to finish off their blocks with their own touches. Besides, the embellishing is probably the most labor-intensive part of crazy quilting, don't you think?

We might do this again after the first of the year and will hopefully get more swappers. This was a fun swap!

Oh my, yes!...The embellishing is very labor intense (for me, anyway)...but it's the most fun, too...
I knew you had put it was optional, but I figured most would want to do some..and I know many people do the seam embroidery by machine. I just haven't tried that yet, but have seen blocks done that way...very pretty...
I learned to quilt when I was a young girl, back in the early 1970's from my beloved grandma, Nanny. Everything was by hand, piecing included. After I was grown I made a few quilts, very sporadic. About 3 years ago I happened upon a great lil lqs not too far a drive into town for me. My "quilty sisters" did most of their quilting by machine... I was a "novelty" (translate-dinosaur..lol) to them with doing all by hand. They soon enticed me to machine quilting..and I have them doing some things by hand. I love both!
Regards,
Kif
PS: Still hoping to see pics when you all get your blocks! :)

I got my box in on Friday, but only just had time to post today. Very cool blocks! In the photo, the top row are the blocks I received from Groovy Pieces, jclinganrey and SOM, if I remember correctly. The bottom row are mine that weren't swapped. I've already dragged out my buttons, ribbons and threads to do some embellishments. Will probably also make enough extra blocks to do a 4x4 grid. Thank y'all for the neat blocks and thank you jclinganrey for running this swap, it was fun and look forward to the next one.
