Hello all,

My apologies to mrs. sherbet, alice and sewbizgirl! We had an out of town emergency last week and I didn't get your candies in the mail. They are going in the mail today. Again, Im super sorry for this... you should have your candies by the end of the week. It will be a "belated" happy birthday from me.

Thanks for the mortgage messages...I appreciate the kind words and thoughts.

looks like the quilt sharing ideas are a hit.....keep up the sharing I love it. Just can't sew fast enough!

My Wednesday night quilt group is working on projects ever month this year. We have been getting together for over 4 years and I am one of the newest quilters. so I suggested why doesn't everyone pick a project and be in charge of it once a month! Oh my...becareful what you wish for! I will post the two projects that we have finished so far. Mine was the first one since it was my bright idea to do this. I just wanted to get out of my comfort zone and learn something new!

The Christmas presents is the project that I lead....(i did not know how to do paper piecing but my mom did so we did this together)

The second is a purse that we made....lined and everything! has 8 pockets. I am using it as a sewing bag.

barbarakibler23 04-08-2014 07:19 AM

I can't seem to post the christmas wall hanging.....:(

barbarakibler23 04-08-2014 07:35 AM

My pleasure, Barbara. I'm trying to share, while others are waiting for theirs!

I have received all but 6 of my squishies, so I do have a LOT of squares to work with! I'm still working on the Arkansas Crossroads. It's fun to put together.

I agree, that first quilt I linked to would be great done in postage stamp squares. Be sure you show us when you get it done.

sewbizgirl 04-08-2014 05:08 PM

Happy Birthday Bonnie.
I too am addicted to Pinterest. It's a toss-up if I spend more time on Quilting Board or Pinterest. No wonder my hand quilting takes so long. I can't seem to turn off the computer. The good ideas are just endless and many of them seem to turn into UFO's.

Not today, Barbara, but I did get the lovely assortment below from Janice McC! Thank you for the card and all the pretty candy Janice. My favorite one of the whole lot is the red checked one at the top, by the kitty card. Love that retro little girl on it!

Thank you all for the birthday wishes and also for posting your Pinterest pages. Will love checking them out. I agree, Pinterest can really suck up some time! But it's a great resource.

Janice McC 04-09-2014 01:02 PM

Glad the package arrived in time and that you are pleased! Happy birthday!

Well I guess I'll tell you my bio and get it out of the way!

I am married to a wonderful man and we have three grown children. The oldest, a daughter, is married but no grandkids for us yet. :( We are waiting and hopeful. Second child, a son, will be getting engaged soon to a sweet girl and probably will be married a year from now. Third child, also a son, is a busy pilot, off pursuing his career.

I work only part-time at a fitness center, teaching Silver Sneaker classes. I teach general exercise, yoga, and water aerobics. LOVE it! I am home the rest of the time, to be available to hubby who is disabled. That's where the quilting comes in!

I made a few quilts for the kids when they were little, but didn't start quilting in earnest until a few years ago when a friend was diagnosed with breast cancer. I wanted to make her a prayer quilt to take to her chemo sessions, with scriptures on it to encourage her and feed her faith. It was such a rewarding experience that I have kept making quilts. I gave 10 or so last year as wedding gifts, and at least that many more childrens' quilts to charities. I also have an Etsy shop, hoping to sell a quilt or two now and again.

Currently I am working on a scrappy "Chunky Churn Dash" pattern by Bonnie Hunter, as well as the "Arkansas Crossroads" I am doing from these candy squares. I'm also cutting up shirts like crazy, preparing to make another shirt quilt or two. And I always have knitting and/or crochet projects going too!

I also design and write knitting patterns and just wrote my first crochet pattern which I sell in my Etsy shop. I'm knitting hubby a red cabled cap at the moment and just finished a pair of slippers for myself.

Barb asked us to mention what we are most proud of. Quiltwise, it would probably be the Bento Box quilt I made for an engaged couple last year, a special friend of the family: http://www.quiltingboard.com/members...51-416283.html . Lifewise, I am most proud of my kids. They have all grown up into such fine young adults and I love and admire each one of them so much.

Thanks for listening to me rattle on...

djmat 04-09-2014 02:30 PM

Happy birthday, Sewbizgirl. Many happy returns of the day! Love your Bento Box quilt.
hugs,
DJ

Hi Dottie Dodge
I am a follower of yours on pinterest. thanks

The frame was the most difficult part on the purse. You have to sew it by hand and I broke 4 needles while sewing it. I need to make 2 more for Christmas gifts thought I would take a break before the next one!

I found the handles at JoAnn's I used a coupon so they were around $3.50. Good luck!

Yes Barb, I am using the swapped candy and I have started by making a bunch of 16 patches to use in the Arkansas Crossroads. I think I have enough put together, so now I need to do the "in between" blocks with the little points that come off the 16-patches. I need a big floor space to lay it all out on at this point. (I have no design wall!)

I am really loving the 16 patches I have made!

barbarakibler23 04-10-2014 03:52 PM

the 16 patches that you made ...for the arkansas crossroads is it the ones that you had put into colors??? Also the pattern that I found for the a.c. is not the same size so do you have a pattern for the points????

thanks
Barb
