OMG, Mary, that is beautiful! I will be hard-pressed to follow that! Great vision! I love it!

Thanks for your kind words Barb, I'm glad you are safe. You should try a round-robin sometime. They a lot of fun and what gets returned to you, in the end, is incredible. It's a piece of art from several different people.

Rargle-snargle! Sitting here with my coffee and thoughts and timed out, let's see if I can get the condensed version out in time. It starts out with:

Quilters are some of the nicest people. Sure, we have a few who are quick to share their opinions of whatever it may be... But as proof I made a pretty major mistake in putting together my center. I caught it in time but I left it in just to see what happened. For one, as I say, I've never had to deliberately make a mistake to keep myself humble. I am all sorts of humble!

For two, is that we get so caught up in the small mistakes some times. We know looking at my center that we see a weave of ribbons so that is what we see. My original idea for the swap was too large, but it was bright and bold using hand dyes and black. My first idea for the ribbons was also to use black and make it very architectural and precise and 3D. But then I looked and saw that bag of bits I wanted to do something with, and that something was more humble...

For three, quilters are nice. We will work around that which we can, correct that which we can't. And most of us try for the "if you don't have anything nice to say" part of life. I don't think I've seen a single mention of "was that the weave you wanted?"

And now I see the fantastic additions by Mary and LeeAnn and am thinking -- humble is over-rated! Woohoo, good going ladies I really appreciate what you've done so far.

I think both Rebecca and I were/are concerned with leaving little tiny borders for the next person to deal with. Had I done what I originally thought with a blue background, there would have been dark blue and red triangles in the centers and I could have celebrated what she did better than in my complete turn around. The way she did her workmanship certainly made it easy for me to deal with.

I think what I've found is it is better to go a little over size to get the look you really want and leave whatever issues we have from a narrow border to the next person on the list. And that's because Mary is a nice quilter and will deal with a .5" designed finished edge....

IceBlossom, It looks like you've been thinking a lot about quilters and additions during the RR. Last night when I got home from work I looked in on our thread and I found your post about my center and your addition. At the end of it, you added those Youtube links. Before making a comment to tell you how much I loved your addition, I clicked on the links. Music! I don't know why exactly you put those songs there-- but now, when I look at your round in the future it's going to remind me of music.

As most people can attest, certain songs from the past can be associated in your mind with certain memories of your life. Music can play a pretty special role in a life. It has for me.

Sometimes I get caught up in the Youtube sidebar and start watching one after another. Last night, I began with your links, then I clicked on one after another music Youtube until dawn. At 6am I looked at the clock, and counted on my fingers how many hours I had to sleep until my first commitment for Saturday. lol Not so many! I have to buzz along now, put I wanted to for sure check in before I go out to let you know I'm so pleased with the round you made. Thank you for adding such a sweet round with green. :-)

Here is a sneak peak at Mona's quilt. Bugarroo went 3" and 9" on her sides, and I'm doing the same (opposite) with mine, I think it's going to look really neat!. Bugaroo, you'll notice I moved one of your squirrels a bit so it could be climbing up the tree. I'll be putting a bit of a hump of grass for the second squirrel to be sitting on. I sure do love those squirrels!

I've got the narrow tree and the wider top branches figured out, so now i need to do the narrow (grass) bottom and the other wide side that will have another smaller tree/shrub. Once the applique is done, then the fun starts with adding the embroidery!

When it's done, it will measure 54.5" square - that is one advantage to embroidery/applique - I start big and trim down to exact size and no worry if the pieces are going to fit correctly https://cdn.quiltingboard.com/images/smilies/smile.png

BTW - the blue "sky" is very pale, on my monitor it looks a lot more blue than it does for real.

This is sooooo cute. I LOVE IT.

Macybaby... that is beyond wonderful almost as if the quilt is hanging in the tree. No worries about moving Sir Squirrel. He looks quiet happy to be on a tree. Mona I am loving your quilt more and more.

This being my first round robin, I had no idea of the ownership you feel towards the quilts you have worked on. Its kind of like watching children grow as a teacher... you added just a tad to their story. So glad I joined this group!

I have decided on fabric for Travelinggramma's quilt. Following Carrie is a hard act to follow. I am going with a good bit of white to add space and then darker blues and greens with a pop of bright green.

MacyBaby - you have taken my breath away - and I am so thankful I do not have to follow you!!!
Bugaroo - those colors are so perfect. Can't wait to see what great things you will come up with.
I am working on your bees. Do bees need black wings?
