My contribution to PI Day! I made two of these little apple pies. One for my son and one for me. I missed taking a photo of mine but he sent me a snap of his. https://cdn.quiltingboard.com/images/smilies/hug.gif

Hi NZ - Looks like my package hasn't arrived. I mailed last Monday, March 8. If you don't have it by tomorrow, I'll put another one in the mail on Wednesday.

Loveofquilts 03-15-2021 06:52 PM

That is an adorable pie!! You are so talented. :)

Loveofquilts 03-15-2021 06:54 PM

I agree with the group, that backpack is super cool. I have only made 1 bag so far. I have a kit to make a bag that holds your rulers and mat to take along to quilt retreats. I'll have to get onto working on that soon. :)

Loveofquilts 03-15-2021 07:03 PM

I'm working on my June Taylor quilt as you go placemats. I have them sewn and I am working on putting the decorative quilting stitches on before I bind them. I just finished 2 carpenter star pillows for the couches out front. I say I'm pretty proud of those. First pillows I have made with quilt blocks. I have another set of placemats to work on after this, log cabin style. I am getting caught up on my home dec items, lol! I have 4 quilt tops or flimsies ready to sandwich and quilt and 1 king size t shirt quilt still in the process of quilting. I'm still working on walking correctly, I have had a couple setbacks after my bunion surgery. So I am working on small things that are fun to keep my spirits up. :) I have many, many more UFOs to catch up on, but 1 project at a time. Right? Hope the rest of the group is enjoying this wonderful spring weather we are beginning to have. :) Oh yeah, I forgot I am also doing Craftsy's 1st virtual quilt retreat in 2 weeks. I'm excited to see how that turns out. We just got our fabric requirements today! Busy, busy, busy!

Don't stress about it, kele. I know the post is very unpredictable nowadays and your package will arrive. I had a Christmas card that I mailed to my aunt in early December and it didn't arrive until mid February!

sewbizgirl 03-16-2021 12:51 PM

Lol, I got some Christmas cards in February, too! I suppose the senders thought I was rude not to acknowledge them earlier....

Wowzers! Pat yourselves on the back.https://cdn.quiltingboard.com/images...es/thumbup.png I am impressed with how on time we are this March. I will be sending April birthday info early because our birthday gals are celebrating early in April. So if you are not ready to mail ASAP. Scurry about and pack up those little candy treats for an early mail drop. https://cdn.quiltingboard.com/images/smilies/wink.png

Happy St. Patrick's Day to the Irish and all who pretend to be Irish one day a year. Raise your shamrock shake or Guinness and shout "Slainte". Enjoy!

kele 03-17-2021 07:01 PM

NZ - Thanks for letting me know. Happy it made it there in time for your day!

ibex94 03-18-2021 06:30 AM

Just to warn everyone about late post office action, I had a priority mail envelope shipped to me from Colorado on Mar 1 that didn't arrive until Mar 15 (Jackson, Mississippi area). The priority mail is supposed to be going by plane to its distribution center but obviously is not. Snail mail is being shipped by trucks now.

WMUTeach 03-19-2021 05:52 AM

I send the list of April birthday gals today, Friday. If you did not get the list, let me know and I will resend immediately. It's a beautiful day in Michigan and promised to be 60 degrees. Whoop-de-do! Spring is just over the horizon. Happy First Day of Spring......tomorrow! 🌻

hav4boys 03-19-2021 07:23 AM

My candies are our for our mailman to pick up. One does not have far to go, which is good as her birthday is the second.

I am off to Texas this afternoon. Have a great weekend.

Loveofquilts 03-19-2021 09:43 AM

Both envelopes of candies are out there for the postal carrier to pick up. Yeah! Hopefully the mail folks will get the mail going on time again. Fingers crossed.

Enjoy Texas hav4boys, weather should be pretty nice this weekend!

sewbizgirl 03-19-2021 11:19 AM

My package for AHWU is waiting for pickup in the mailbox. Hope it arrives by the 2nd!

kele 03-19-2021 07:39 PM

Mailed both packages today. Hope they get there on time!

I just saw this on my calendar. How appropriate that I and a friend are spending the day making a baby quilt for her soon to arrive grand child. In echo of Patrick's Mom.............. Happy Quilting Day to all!!

Happy Weekend!

Happy Quilting Day! I don't think I'll have time for quilting myself, but I'll be sewing in spirit and cheering you all on! :)

Thank you, one and all, for all your beautiful birthday candies, cards and notes!!! I couldn't wait to open them all this morning. The variety of fabrics kept me "oohing and ahhing" with each envelope opening.

NZquilter 03-20-2021 07:58 AM

My April envelopes went into the mail this morning.

IrishMom 03-20-2021 10:23 AM

Happy Birthday NZ!!! How fun to have your birthday on a weekend this year!

sewbizgirl 03-20-2021 10:24 AM

Happy Birthday, NZQuilter!! Looks like a nice assortment of candies. Aren't they cute? Glad you got all in time.

Gaijin 03-20-2021 12:17 PM

I did not get a list of April birthdays yet-worried about having enough time to mail!

kele 03-20-2021 12:54 PM

Happy birthday, NZ!

WMUTeach 03-20-2021 04:20 PM

Woozers! What a lovely start of a scrap quilt or what ever you choose. Isn't it amazing how we can send packages from hither and yon and they all seem to play nice together. Happy Birthday, NZ. I hope you got to enjoy your day in the way that is perfect for you. Best Wishes.https://cdn.quiltingboard.com/images/smilies/boy.gif

Loveofquilts 03-20-2021 05:55 PM

Hope you had a great day yesterday NZ quilter!

I got my March color block challenge top put together. Now I'll be ready for when April shows up. I'm not a big fan of cutting the blocks diagonally, don't like that waste. However with this one I cut 12 blocks and then used the 4 of the cut of parts and made smaller points for the inside part (qst) and then I cut up the rest to get my cornerstones. So it all worked out.

sewbizgirl 03-21-2021 01:14 PM

Wow... beautiful, Cathy!

MacyBaby, I like your layout and the use of the extra "bonus" blocks. I am saving mine for some future project. I finished the January Color Block a couple of weeks ago. Finished the top for the February quilt last week Now to layer and quilt. March is going to be skipped. Too many started projects and too little time for something that doesn't thrill me. April will be here soon and maybe a new choice that will catch my fancy.

Here is my January color block finish. All from my stash except the back. February will get a photo when it is quilted and bound.....Look for it in a couple of months. https://cdn.quiltingboard.com/images/smilies/hug.gif Tee-Hee-Hee

Happy quilting all! Post some photos even your works in progress using those little 2.5 candies.

Loveofquilts 03-21-2021 04:33 PM

Absolutely beautiful quilts ladies! I just learned in a class how to do that concentric circle quilting. Talk about having to be super patient, but it looks so amazing when complete! I'm not sure I'm brave enough to try it yet, but i'd ove to one day soon.

sewbizgirl 03-21-2021 04:44 PM

Looks great, WMUTeach! Wonderful quilting.

ibex94 03-21-2021 05:44 PM

Happy Birthday NZ!!! Did you get cake and ice cream? How do you celebrate birthdays at your house?

Apr birthday candies mailed today.

Have a great spring week everyone now that NZ has ushered in the change of seasons.

NZquilter 03-21-2021 06:06 PM

Macybaby, that is really impressive! Wow!

WMUTeach, I love your spiral quilting design. I've always wanted to try it, but have never gotten the courage to actually do it.

WMUTeach 03-22-2021 03:09 AM

NZ, the spiral was a challenge. I discovered "tucks" on the back and had to pick out way to much quilting. Yes, I will try it again but only on smaller quilts.
Lessons learned:
1.Spray my piece heavily with spray baste so nothing moves.
2.The constant turning of the quilt is hard to handle but gets better as the circle gets wider.
3.Slow and steady is better than fast and crooked even when you think you've "got it". (I didn't but thought I did.)
3.Keep trying new techniques. It is good for the brain! https://cdn.quiltingboard.com/images/smilies/boy.gif

travelinggramma 03-22-2021 07:43 AM

April Candies in the mail. Love the concentric circles - and have used on blocks. But found it difficult as you are always going in same direction. Good for you to do an entire quilt!
Today I meet my Bernina again.. It has been sitting here very lonely. I need to finish a quilt so it is ready to travel when we go back on the road. Wow that sounds good! We are trading in our fifth wheel and truck for a motorhome. Its hard to give it up as we purchased it new in 2003 and moved in and lived in it. Time sure flies! We hopefully will be leaving for the east coast the beginning of May. Not even sure where we will be in August for my birthday - but will figure something out!
Will be heading thru NM and TX on I10 so we can register the motorhome in TX. Then somehow meander north east. Anyone in our path?

Macybaby 03-22-2021 10:33 AM

My candies when out today

Only if you come by the Great Lakes! Enjoy your travels!

WMUTeach 03-22-2021 04:45 PM

Travelinggrandma, if you come to the Michigan, you can get three of us in one swoop, almost one stop! Or we could meet in Amish country in northern Indiana! https://cdn.quiltingboard.com/images/smilies/wink.png Enjoy your new "home" and keep stitching.

sewbizgirl 03-22-2021 06:37 PM

My first birthday package came today! It's from Patrick's Mom. Thank you, Shannon!
