Asian/Oriental Fabric Fat 8[SUP]th[/SUP] Swap – Sign up thru 4/12/13 – Due 4/26/13

Brought to you by Tracibug and her love of the ‘other fabrics’ …….

Swap open for registration until April 12, 2013 or until 100 sets filled, whichever comes first.....

Each swapper may send in up to six sets.

Each set will consist 8 - F8’s of any 1 (one) 100% cotton Asian/Oriental themed quality quilting fabric. You know, the ones that often have a bit of metallic accent to them. If you are unsure, just ask. Pictures of what I am wanting to make with these fabrics are posted below.

F8’s should be carefully cut from 100% cotton fabric and should measure 10” x 18”. Fabrics that fray easily, or are fairly easy to see through are not good candidates for this swap. One yard should yield 8 – F8’s. If you are unsure of how to cut them, just ask.

Please be advised that fabrics that are cut too wonky or off grain, are shedding, that contain selvages, or those that are not at least 10” x 18”, will be returned unswapped. Oversized is better than undersized.

The Rules:

- For each SET of 8 - Fold your fabrics neatly and put them in a ziploc bag (quart or gallon).

- Each set must be from a different fabric.

- Be sure the selvages have been removed from both ends and there are no selvage holes.

- Write your name and address (a mailing label is fine) on each bag, in the event of a mailing mishap.

- RETURN POSTAGE – Include $6 (cash, money order, or stamps) These will be sent back to you priority mail with confirmation. Do not send envelopes with postage or metered strips.

Please note that if you do not send enough return postage I will hold them until you send the difference.

I would like to have these in hand no later than 4/26/13 and will sort that weekend and send back by 4/30/13. Packages received after that date without prior approval will be returned unswapped. Any member not fulfilling their commitment will not be accepted in future swaps and negative feedback will be posted to members account per Moderators requirements.

This swap is approved by PatriceJ.

Reminders and swap rules can be found here - http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-20154-1.htm

Flat rate priority envelopes are now $5.60, which includes tracking.

Mariposa 03-18-2013 02:43 PM

I believe she is meaning the bubble-lined flat rate ones, which are $5.95. Just easier to say $6. :)

ssnare 03-18-2013 02:48 PM

Oh, ok. Thank you. I have to look at my stash. I want to do this.

tracibug 03-18-2013 03:08 PM

Questions answered:

I use the priority bubble mailers and the postage is $5.95, with tracking. Please do not send metered strips.

F8's of 10x18?
As noted, selvages must be off. This may mean your F8 is 11x18 and that is ok, minimum is 10x18.

moonrise 03-18-2013 04:54 PM

PM'ed you. 6 sets for me, please! :D

tracibug 03-18-2013 08:32 PM

I've got you down :-)

wanda lou 03-18-2013 10:17 PM

Looking at my fabric now, hope to do this swap.

ssnare 03-19-2013 04:43 AM

I am in for at least 2 sets. I have to check my fabrics.

Elisabrat 03-19-2013 04:58 AM

Traci, you show pretty uses for the fabric however how about showing samples of fabric so its clear in everyones mind what your thinking? a Japanese print perhaps and a Chinese style print? so no one accidentally sends you something not of the type your looking for and gets sad feelings if its the wrong thing. What a pretty fabric swap this should be some absolutely gorgeous oriental/asian fabrics out there. oh so sad I do not have any to share.

ssnare 03-19-2013 06:32 AM

Can the prints be Asian/Oriental without metallic accents?

mom-6 03-19-2013 06:42 AM

Love these fabrics! The projects you are planning look like lots of fun to do. Now to head to my studio and see what I can come up with to swap.

squires1042 03-19-2013 09:41 AM

I would also like an answer to this question as I have some that don't have the gold on them as well.

I will probably do at least 4 sets, maybe more, have to look at my stash and see what I can spare.

Question: Do the fabrics have to have metallic accents? No, they do not.

Here are links to some fabric ideas:

ssnare 03-19-2013 12:10 PM

Oh, goodie about the metallic. I also have some extra fabric of certain pieces , but not enough to make a set of 8, if anyone wants to do a side swap, let me know. Thanks.

moonrise 03-20-2013 06:18 PM

I had to go shopping, too. I hated every minute of it! (NOT!) ;) :D

tracibug 03-21-2013 11:50 AM

Such an unfortunate reason to have to go fabric shopping... lol

mom-6 03-21-2013 08:16 PM

Another question about fabrics - the ones I have yardage of are quite large prints. Will they work for what you are wanting?

tracibug 03-22-2013 09:08 AM

I would fold the fabric to the f8 size and see what you think, without seeing the fabric it's hard to say. I believe I have seen what you're talking about and they should be fine.

lauriejo 03-24-2013 03:01 PM

Just sent my pm, can't wait to see what everyone sends.

tracibug 03-25-2013 10:26 AM

Here are the ones I'll be sending. They all have shimmery metallic gold accents (photos don't do them justice!). The blue one with the birds and flowers is so dreamy that I ended up ordering 4 more yards! :D

mom-6 03-26-2013 04:57 AM

Decided I will pass this time. Checked my fabrics and I don't have enough to complete my project AND do the swap without going shopping and that is not an option right now. Sure are some pretty fabrics being shown!

tracibug 03-26-2013 10:07 AM

MOONRISE - Where did you order the blue from?

Awwwww... though I totally understand, I started working on my taxes and it's not pretty. If anything changes in time, just let me know.

ssnare 03-26-2013 09:02 PM

Sign me up for 2 more sets. I bought some more fabric today.

tracibug 03-27-2013 02:54 PM

If we don't have 100 sets signed up for by April 10th, I will open it up to those already signed up to send more than 6 sets. PM me if you're interested in sending more and we can discuss.

jclinganrey 03-28-2013 11:37 AM

I have my six set cut, folded and packaged! This should be fun. My fabrics include Moda, Alexender Henry, 2 from Quilt Gate and 2 from Kona Bay.

Hi Sherry. Good to see you here.

Jane

squires1042 03-29-2013 12:10 PM

squires1042 04-01-2013 10:25 AM

I have 6 sets cut, should I wait to see if we need to get more or send this week. I can do it either way, may have a couple of others I can add if we need it.

8 more days to sign up! I went to Beverly's today... they had no less than 40 different choices. Ugh... was tough!!

jclinganrey 04-03-2013 07:32 AM

Oh, my senior moment!!! (I'm way too young for this) I just re-checked my F8 packages. I did 8 sets of 6, not 6 sets of 8!!! So glad I re-read the instructions. Off to cut some more F8's. Ggggeeeeezzzzz - - -

So, actually, Traci, I could send 2 more sets if you need them - - - in fact, plz put me down for 8 sets. No sense in having them just sit in my stash.

Jane
