Autumn Harvest - September Doll Quilt Swap Sign Up Closes August 31st Noon EST
Sign up time for the Quilting Board's 37th Doll Quilt Swap - Autumn Harvest
Everyone is welcome to join us no matter what your skill level may be. Making and sharing doll quilts offers a wonderful opportunity to try new techniques, use up scraps in your stash – or an excuse to buy new fabric – and it’s a great way to make new quilty friends. Here are the details. I know they are long and boring, but please read them. Please? Doll Quilt Swap #37 – October 2012 - Autumn Harvest Theme: Autumn Harvest – Autumn is such an exciting time of the year. The air turns crisp, the leaves glow in an amazing array of color, and the abundance of harvest time tantalizes the senses. What does autumn mean to you? As always, the theme is optional, but if you’re up for a challenge, come play along with us. DEADLINES: SIGN UP: Easy As 1-2-3 1. To join the fun, just send me a PM no later than NOON (EST) on August 31, 2012. 2. Please let me know whether you are able to swap internationally as we have a few members who are outside the USA. 3. Let me know you have read the guidelines and make sure your QB mailbox isn’t full. Partner Assignment: Partners will be assigned on September 1st. Find your partner at our Group Home here http://www.quiltingboard.com/groups/...group-g14.html Mailing Deadline: You must have your quilt in the mail no later than September 30th. If you do not think you can meet that deadline, you might want to wait a month or two until your schedule frees up and you don’t feel pressured. DOLL QUILT SWAP GUIDELINES SIZE: Doll quilts can be between 12”x12” to 24”x24” or any size or shape in between. If your finished quilt measures 24" x 26", or 11" x 13" it's fine. No worries or excessive rules for this swap. MATERIALS: Most participants use cotton, but you can use any other natural fiber like wool, linen or silk. EMBELLISHMENTS: Let your creativity rule. Add beads, buttons, ribbon, lace, rickrack, or whatever if you feel like it. Or add nothing at all. It’s up to you. CONSTRUCTION: Pick your technique. Doll quilts may be pieced, appliquéd, wholecloth, quilted by hand or quilted by machine. All quilts should have binding. LABEL: Please add a label or sign your quilt on the back with your name and the date. It is a wonderful record of your work and years from now, it will help your partner remember who made this magnificent work of art! If your quilt is reversible and you don’t want to sign it, please include a card or attach a removable tag with your Quilting Board name or real name if different. MANNERS: Don’t for get to thank your partner. A simple post on the thread for the month is terrific, but a PM is nicer still. Please leave feedback for your partner. HELP YOUR HOSTESS KEEP TRACK: When you mail off your quilt, please send me a PM. Also send one when you receive a quilt you’re your partner. This will help me keep track and to ensure that everyone receives a quilt. PHOTOS: At the Quilting Board we love photos! A big part of the doll quilt fun is seeing what everyone has created, but as with most things in life, there is a little etiquette to follow. Usually the receiver will post a photo, but not everyone has a camera, so please photograph your quilt before you send it just in case. Don’t post a photo until your partner receives your quilt so the surprise won’t be spoiled. If you cannot post a photo, please ask your partner to do so. PARTNERS: Once sign up has ended, I will assign partners. I will try to pair you with someone you haven’t had as a swap partner previously. You will make a quilt for your partner and s/he will make one for you. Please PM your partner to share physical addresses. Do not post addresses on this thread. Although there is a theme and it is often sender’s choice, it is always nice to ask if your partner has any preferences. COMMUNICATION: If something unexpected comes up and for any reason you cannot meet the deadline or need to drop out of the swap, please let me know as soon as you know. If you take the time to communicate any difficulties, I can make sure things work out favorably for you and your partner with no hard feelings as a result. If, however, you just disappear off the face of the earth, you will not be permitted to participate in future swaps until you make good on your commitment. DOLL QUILT GROUP – Besides this thread, there is a Doll Quilt group on the Quilting Board. There you can upload photos, start discussions on ideas for themes, share resources about techniques for doll quilts and other mini quilts, and whatever you want to do. It’s your group, so you decide! Join here http://www.quiltingboard.com/groups/...group-g14.html |

I'm in Krystyna, I sent in my pm. I just can't stay away. I tried, really I did. I'm addicted to these babies. I already have my design in my head for this month. Will be starting it this week. I will probably be taking next month off. My baby is due to deliver my grandbaby anytime in the next 6 weeks. (My first grandbaby!! :)) Can't wait to see who I'm partnered with. That's as exciting as making doll quilts. (Meeting a potential new friend.) See ya soon. :)

Krystyna,
Please go to see the eye doctor. Just because your eyes feel better doesn't always mean there is no problem. High blood pressure and diabetes can effect your eyes. There is an old saying "better safe than sorry" GO HAVE YOUR EYES CHECKED !!!!!!!! PLEASE |
Judith, how exciting! A new grandbaby! I sure hope you're making a quilt for the little one!
Ronda, my darling, not ignoring you! Spent the day sewing and canning tomato sauce. Will PM you and everyone else back in a few moments. Aunt Janey, I guess I will make an appointment. Maybe. |
Hey Y'all, Count me in for September swap! These little dittys are addicting!
|
I kind of agree Krystyna, Given you family history....There are so many new things now that they never had before. It is usually better to catch things as early as possible. And besides, you will feel relieved if it is just dust and eye strain. Just look at it like its a check up. I really hope you'll reconsider. Hugs.

I agree Krystyna, don't mess with your eyes. my son has all kinds of vision problems now because he did not go to the Doctor when he first started having problems. So go already... For our peace of mind lady! hugs sent your way!

Lynnie25 asked me to post pics of me and Dragonfly Nana meeting today so here are a couple. The 1st pic is of my stained glass quilt I just picked up from the quilters at Bella Fabrics, the 2nd is of Dragonfly Nana (Paula) folding my quilt back up, and the last one is me and Paula. I hate taking pics because I look crappy in them! We had a blast tho. We met up at Barnes and Noble and had coffee and chatted awhile, then we went shopping at JoAnn's and Hancock's, then we ate lunch at Olive Garden and finally, we went to Bella Fabrics to pick up my Stained Glass quilt. And I might add it rained CATS & DOGS the whole time except when we parted to go home!

PAULA, why are your eyes closed in BOTH pics???
|
Teresa, THANK YOU for the pics, I love putting faces to names and you both taking a lovely photo. I just love your stained glass quilt, what a beauty.
I am so glad you had a lovely day, even in the rain. To make you feel better, it rained all day here too :) It is so nice to meet up and spend the day with other quilters from QB, that is why I so enjoyed meeting ursgodschild2 in April in Melbourne. Now who is coming to Australia next to meet me????? |
MsCupid and Dragonfly Nana, I love the pics of you girls! How fun to put faces with names. I'm glad Lynnie asked for that...thanks Lynnie! I also LOVE the stainglass quilt! What a beauty!!!

Teresa,
Your quilt is beautiful. Love the colors. They are so bright and cheerful that you can almost see the sun shining through. And it's so nice that you could meet with Paula. Looks like the two of you had a great time. |
Thank you Sue!:)
|
Ladies - let me tell you - the picture does not do Teresa's quilt justice- the colors are so vibrant and the piecing is exemplary! What also doesn't show is the fabulous FMQ done in the teal blue and since the back is muslin it shows beautifully there too.
We had a terrific time today - no matter the darn rain - and yes it looks like my hazel eyes were closed both times! Oops LOL |

Rain is just another form of beauty all in all. And love that quilt. Stunning colors and what lucky ladies to share shopping for FABRIC together.. swoon a more perfect day hard to find.
I think Marytoddliz has lost her marbles. so many things to HARVEST.. last I checked you were harvesting goobers. Now your thinking harvests.. rofl now I was going pastel fall right? just like in real life. oh wait, that is disney. OH goody I can use real colors and UNLIKE last month even patterned fabrics.. yipppeeeee. oh oh I have some gold beads too that would make a nice eye catcher sheen when hung on the wall.. um just like the fall leaves outside. Oh crud. NO LEAVES outside. I live in the woods. Its all brown pine needles if its anything. Not too inspiring. WAIT poison oak! that has lovely colors who wants a poison oak DQ? tada what a great idea. think I spot some right now should go pick some so I can be inspired up close. Then it would be a gift that just keeps on giving.. darned poured some bleach on it yesterday. bet its brown now. bummer what a good idea that was too. |
