Boom 15 "Rosebud" 3 month group

Here's the info you need for the Rosebud group.

We have a couple of new people in this group but most of you know the way this works. This round each of you will be making 1 blocks per person so you will need to prepare FIFTEEN f8's for your co-members and if you are making a block for yourself, you'll need 16.

Important Dates
F8s are due IN MY HANDS on Thursday, June 18, 2015
I ship to you on Monday, June 22, 2015
3 month group blocks due IN MY HANDS ON Tuesday, September 22, 2015

Rules/Guidelines:
Please make sure to also refer to the basic policies that apply to all swaps through the board: RULES FOR SWAPS AND SIMILAR ACTIVITIES - Updated 8 December 2010.
Fabric, Completed Block and Package Preparation:
1) Please pre-wash your Fat Eighth (F8) fabric before cutting into Fat Eighths by de-selvaging, pre-washing and pressing. Cut your fabric into Fat Eighths, generally about 18” x 11”. Mail them to me.
2) When mailing your F8s to me for distribution, please make sure they are individually sealed in a Ziploc-type bag. Label each F8 with your board name along with any instructions or color requests. (DO NOT SPECIFY A RECIPIENT unless a fabric is being directed to a particular person. Doing so slows my sorting process immensely.) Labels are useful to help the recipient prevent fabric mix-ups, something that’s easy to do. When you send your completed blocks back to me, please seal and label your completed blocks with the owner’s name AND your name in a similar manner as you did the F8s. (Your name is important so that the owner knows who made what block.)
3) Please mail your F8s to me so they are in my hands on the due date.
4) Carefully handle all fabric received and completed blocks, placing them somewhere safe until mailing time comes.
5) To help keep track of the fabrics and blocks made, I will establish an online Fabric Gallery.
6) You are REQUIRED to keep in touch with your group by posting to the dedicated Boom 15 thread at least every 2 weeks. This is a requirement. If you don’t wish to keep in touch, this is not the swap for you.
7) All blocks must be completed within the time frame for the group and mailed to me with a tracking number.
8) All blocks should be 12 1/2” unfinished. They may be regularly pieced, paper-pieced, appliquéd, whatever the block maker decides to do. Again, the feeling is to get a true friendship quilt out of this. Please do not request specific blocks as the idea is to let everyone, of every skill level, join in and try new things and grow. Before mailing, be sure to clean up the blocks by trimming your threads and cutting the dog ears.
9) Most importantly, HAVE FUN!

Shipping Information
You must supply me with tracking numbers on all parcels sent to me and I will do likewise when I mail to you. All shipping costs are your responsibility. You may ship to me in whatever tracked package you like, however I will ONLY ship to you in USPS Padded Priority Envelopes at a cost is $6.10. You may supply me with a pre-paid or pre-stamped USPS Padded Priority Envelope (available for free at USPS.com) or send me $6.10 in well-concealed cash and I will supply the envelope, whatever is easier for you.

Keep the following in mind:
You MUST be in good standing with previous swaps. ANYONE with a poor track record of fulfilling your swap commitments will not be permitted to join. Once names are published on the Boom 15 thread, I will likely be told if there have been previous problems and you may be dropped at my discretion. If you sign-up here and do not fulfill your commitment, negative feedback will be given.
All skill levels are welcome but you must be able to sew a well-constructed block. It need not be fancy or detailed but it must not be falling apart. I respect new quilter’s need to learn and that will be taken into account.
PLEASE pre-wash fabrics without any fragrance residue. Please note that that some swappers may be smokers or have pets. If either pets or smoking is a serious problem for you, you may find this isn’t the swap for you.
NO public complaints or criticisms of other swappers, items received or other type for any reason are permitted. ALL complaints must be addressed by Private Message (PM) or email to me at [email protected]. NO EXCEPTIONS!

I am using a variety of fabric with "peach/orange sherbet" in it. I will request that only "white or white on white" fabrics be used with it - would prefer no other prints or colors. I will also put a note that I like "star blocks" as a suggestion but by no means is that a requirement...just a suggestion in case you get quilter's mind boggle.

I used this same fabric collection in the last Boom and decided I wanted to make a larger top so I'm needing more of the beautiful blocks from y'all.

You might get some F8 with ragged slanted edges from where it came off the bolt but rather than cut off the weirdness, I just left it on. Many of you will get more than the required size so you can keep anything left over. I always try to be over generous with my cuts.

I've got mine all packaged with labels and notes...just waiting to mail on Monday to Janice.

Hi everyone, great to see both repeat and new boomers. I am sending the space fabric to this group. It is for a boy's quilt outer space themed. Stars would be great, or anything "outer space " inspired. I am sending the star night fabric, and using the planet fabric for inspiration and adding it to the quilt blocks you guys send me to make enough blocks for a finished quilt.

Yay it's almost time to grow some roses. This is my fabric I'll be requesting white or wow. And if a third fabric is needed please use touches of the pink in the flowers.

Great fabric! I will be getting my fabric ready to go out Monday!!!!

I found a couple of coordinating fabrics from my Mom's stash that I am sending. So you will get one of these. I would like off white, or the gold, green that are in the print. I am trying to find swatches to add to the ones so that you can see choices. I enjoy all kinds of blocks and applique if someone is so inclined.

Thanks so much for hosting again and to all the familiar and new swappers!

Muse&Sew 06-05-2015 04:48 PM

Very pretty fabric everyone! I can probably can my F8 ready over the weekend since I have most of them cut. I ran out of my pretty Red Cardinal fabric. So I'll have to send a couple of fillers.

Billi 06-06-2015 05:25 AM

Lisa that is really cute fabric, I love the idea of using something from your moms stash for this project.

Kass the star fabric is really great it's got me really thinking......and that is often a dangerous thing ;-)

Bee Beatty 06-06-2015 05:38 AM

Good Morning Rosebud Boomers! Looking forward to this Swap with many of you I know and especially getting to know those I haven't met before. I "ditto" Joan's comment...this is a super group of caring people who have changed my life for the good in so many ways....helpful and supportive doesn't say enough....welcome!

The fabrics in this Swap are all very distinctive and different! That makes Swapping fun! Room for creativity! And the quilts that follow ....all so unusual and inspiring.

I posted my fabric on the sign-up thread, however I am posting it officially here for the Rosebud group. This is going to be a "Paris Rendezvous" quilt for my niece who is a fashion model for Ralph Lauren, Gucci and others (?). She is 18 and we all miss her. She loves Paris and travels between Toyko, Paris and New York. She has asked me to make her a small quilt so she will have something from home to keep close to her. Meet Caleigh...

I have all my FQs cut and ready to go out Monday. I will also throw in a piece of the fabric i will be using for the background...if you would like to use it in your block design....please do...otherwise you may keep it as well as any left over fabric as my gift! This fabric really lends itself well to fussy cutting little and big areas within any design you might choose...choose any of the colors in the fabric no black or white...please.

Since we all could use a big scoop of Paris in our lives...I have asked "Francois Gaston" to be the official Rosebud Tour Guide...he will post his comments here during the next three months. So grab your baguettes Boomers and let get "rouling" :) background fabric option -

package is in the mail Janice. I emailed you the tracking number.

quilt addict 06-06-2015 08:17 AM

Bee, such a wonderful inspiration for your blocks. Thank you for sharing with us to be part of such a special project. Your niece is beautiful!

All the fabrics will be fun.

Bee Beatty 06-06-2015 08:32 AM

Thank you, Lisa....my brother's daughter....the boys got all the good looking genes among the five of us. :) Glad you are here with us for Boom 15. I know losing your Mom and all that followed has been difficult. I know my day is coming...big hugs to you and your sister. Responding to your PM shortly.

Good afternoon Rosebud Buds! I'm working on the gallery today. It's URL will be the same as last time. It's currently offline but will put it up when I've got your pix in place.

Enjoy your weekend!

Will be mailing my fabric on Monday, didn't get to the post office in time this morning

Kassaundra 06-06-2015 10:31 AM

Bee your niece is beautiful, what an exciting life she has so young. I thought I had an idea for your fabric (may still use the same idea) but knowing she is in fashion may change up my plans. Guess the tin foil hat goes back on for a bit. lol

Flowergurl 06-06-2015 10:34 AM

What a lovely niece you have. So young to be so far away from home! I hope the quilt brings her much comfort. :)
I have half of my F8's cut out. I will finish up tomorrow. I keep changing my mind on which fall colors to use. LOL

Janice McC 06-06-2015 11:39 AM

The Gallery is up! I've posted most of the pix I found. There were one or two where people didn't seem sure the fabric they posted was the one they'd use so I left those off. You will find the gallery here: boomerangswaps.weebly.com. If you discover any mistakes or omissions, please let me know by email. Mistakes I'll try to fix right away, omissions may take a bit longer.

I see that several people have already begun preparing and shipping their F8s. Please make sure you've included your fabric REQUESTS in with each individual F8s and that each baggie is marked with your name. Unless you are directing a particular fabric to a specific individual, please don't label them with each member's name. It slowwwwsss me down when I start my sort. Don't forget to send your F8s to me under tracking and send me that tracking number when you get it. (I like to be aware your package is coming so if it doesn't turn up, I can go looking for it. This happened a couple rounds ago, the package was mis-delivered.) Your return postage should also be included in the package. It's easier for me if you send either $6.10 in cash or a pre-paid USPS priority envelope. (They are available at USPS.com in batches of 3 I believe.) If you use stamps, please send them in a small envelope and use large denomination stamps if possible, PLEASE not 13 first class stamps - they hate that at my post office!

That's about all I can think of now! Thanks for your attention!

Janice

Kass i am sure will love what you do and so will I! I love your creativity! I think she misses her sisters and family. She went with a school friend to a local fashion show for a retail store and from there her opportunities took over her life...truth known ...I think she would like to be home for a while.

Bee Beatty 06-06-2015 02:06 PM

Terriamn...haven't heard from you in a while....just checking in with you. My mother is losing her speech. She knows what she wants to say...just cannot put it together and say it. I am working with her and her speech therapist to continue her conversation skills...but really frustrating for her. And you know me...I can talk for both of us :) so I tell her all about the family and things I am doing. She is able to write down a question for me..and it is always.."When can i go home." Then my heart sinks....

I don't know which is worse, them asking every time to come home, or when they stop asking and you know it's b/c they don't remember they aren't home. I put a hugging smiley in there but it isn't showing.

Flowergurl 06-06-2015 07:27 PM

I just got back from Wal Mart. They had some lovely gold material on sale. Of course it went perfectly with my fall
colors theme. ;) It along with a burnt orange fat quarter are in the washer now. haha

this one. I only have 3 more F8's to cut and i will get to them later today. All should be able to go out
Monday on schedule. :) Thanks for letting me play girls, I am loving it. :)

Was just posting pics of my latest La Pass rosettes on the LP site thought I'd share here while I was at it. These aren't finished yet, but they are slowly getting there.

Janice McC 06-07-2015 12:21 PM

QA, PLEASE email me your tracking #.

Reminder to everyone, please send me your tracking #'s as you ship! I have many, MANY appointments with my family members and I always make arrangements for someone to pick up packages if I anticipate their arrival. I can do that a lot more effectively if I know when they are coming! :)

Thanks, Boomers!

AzKat so sorry on the houses. You must be so aggravated, all revved up and no place to go.

our beloved dog has an aggressive form of skin cancer. If caught right away her chances of survival and a normal quality of life are quite high. Vet said surgery will be excessive to make sure they get it all. We had a boxer who had to have a tumor removed and we were horrified by the size of incision. Decided in lieu of that memory not to do surgery. After further research we have decided she will have the operation. Bad timing as we are having major home remodeling costs this month. Sure hope we are making the right decision.

Terriamn, I had a Lab that got skin cancer at the front of her ear where it connected to her head.
No question, we had the tumor removed. Yes her ear had a bite out of it and hung funny, but she lived several
more years after that. It never bothered her and we were grateful to still have her.
I wish you all the best with your baby!

This was my Rose. I lost her last year at almost 14 years old.
She was an inside dog, but loved to go out and play in the snow even in her advanced
years.

arrrggggghhhhh!!!!! I hate it when the powers that be don't fall in line with my time lines. Sorry that your house hunting didn't go well. It's difficult at best long distance then when adding animals particularly horses to the mix its even more difficult.

Good luck I hope that you find exactly what you want to be your retirement home soon.
