Janice you are right most people call them dragon flies, but I grew up calling them devil's darning needles
|
They are the alpha preditors of the insect world. It is good to encourage them into your garden they will eat many many many pests.

Kass, it reminds me of the dragon flies I am seeing in my garden. So pretty. I like garden bugs, well, the good kind.

Kass another truly fascinating block
Jayne Tahiti sounds so exciting, right out of the movies. We love to sail, would also like to know what kind and size boat you are sailing on. Libster I am using pink fabric with GramE’s block. A rare beautiful day in Minnesota, very little humidity, gentle breeze and in the low 80’s. Think we had a group of 10 floating together today, lots of fun and funny conversations. |
Kass, I have no words for your vision and talent with fabrics. To me, the dragonfly tops anything else I've ever seen that you've done. When I grow up I just want to be a little bit like you. Humbly bowing, well done.

Here are three more that I've done today, but they're not even in the same category as that dragonfly. Wow!
Okay- First one is for Terriamn. It's a 9 Patch Evening Star. Second one is for Bibliostone. I don't have a name for this one. I saw a picture and drew it out. Third one is for Cheesehead. It's a Flying Dutchman. Hope y'all like them. |
LOL on Santa Klaws... And Jane, I love the idea of sailing to Tahiti. You might never want to come back!

I like making dresden blocks too but haven't made any in the boom swaps. I did make one 3 years ago for a mini quilt swap. This is my favorite.

I got Billi's fabric twice. This is the fabric I specifically asked for. I have to admit what I had envisioned at first when seeing the pic of the fabric was that swirly dresden I make w/ the off center center. However after I got the fabric in person I kept seeing insect wings. I waited to decide what to do, but every time I saw the fabric it kept telling me it wanted to fly. Thanks for including that little extra piece, w/o it I couldn't have made matching big wings. So here it is Billi's devil's darning needle.

Beautiful work, Libster! Those three blocks fit their fabric so well. Great choices.
|
Thank you Libster for the Flying Dutchman block, it's great!
|
Thank you Libster for the 9 Patch evening star. Love the colors in your other two blocks also
|
Libster, your blocks are gorgeous! Love the lime green, orange, with butterflies. Bright and cheery! The flying Dutchman is amazingly cool. My favorite color is yellow and the colorful focus fabric just pops right off the block!! All three are very nice!!
