Do you have a tutorial on the board? I want to try QAYG also. This quilt turned out great.

It's lovely, Queen B!!

Macybaby 04-27-2019 03:51 PM

Queenbarbiej - I think that looks really nice - and I don't even like purple!

zozee 04-27-2019 05:11 PM

Queenb—the purple is perfect!

Queenbarbiej 04-27-2019 09:03 PM

Mona G I cut a 8 -18.5" square then quartered, cut 2 - 18.5" squares cut in half and 3 - 13" squares and quartered them. By the time I am done with the top it will be 90.5" by 90.5". Thank you ladies for the complements. Now I have to get a new belt for my Federal sewing machine so that I can quilt this. I am planing on doing feathers in the purple triangles.

Thank you... Yes, I posted a full tutorial in this thread, earlier... post #970. She what you miss out on when you don't read every post? :D

To make it easier to access, I copied it to a new thread in Tutorials:

https://www.quiltingboard.com/tutori...o-t304427.html

Let me know if the pictures don't show up. I copied them rather than upload them one by one. So I may be seeing them, but no one else.

Kassaundra 04-28-2019 10:24 AM

I could see them in the tutorial.

Beautiful quilt sewbiz! I see the block I made in there.

Turned out gorgeous Sewbiz. Your quilting in the sashing is so pretty.

Love seeing the finished quilts. I shared photos of my tulips (some have asked to see the spring flowers) on the Later board and realized that Sooners like signs of spring as well.

These are the ones in my back yard next to the studio. They are almost gone now. I’m glad someone asked to see them because I probably wouldn't have taken photos otherwise.

sewbizgirl 04-29-2019 04:28 PM

Those are beautiful, Shannon. Thanks for sharing them.

I think this mid range purple looks great with these blocks. Most importantly, do you like it?

Queenbarbiej 04-30-2019 07:17 AM

I do like it. I went ahead and assembled the top. It measures 90" x 90". Now I need a backing for it. I am going to hand dye some fabric. I have some extra blocks I made to put on the backside.

sewbizgirl 04-30-2019 07:53 AM

Will you quilt it yourself, QB? Can't wait to see it.

Queenbarbiej 04-30-2019 07:58 AM

Yes I am quilting it myself. I am doing feathers in purple setting triangles. I will have feathers zigzagging through the quilt. I've done feathers once before and I was so happy how they turned out that want to do them again.

sewbizgirl 04-30-2019 08:01 AM

That sounds pretty! I need loads of practice before my feathers will look good, if ever...

Queenbarbiej 04-30-2019 08:05 AM

My feathers aren't perfect either but I still like them because it was a design I always liked and was very unsure I could do them because I thought they were too hard. I was so happy that I was able do it that I want to try again.

NZquilter 04-30-2019 12:00 PM

That sounds beautiful, QueenB! I love the look of quilted feathers. I did them once on a border. They turned out okay and I want to try them again, too. I look forward to seeing yours!

Cheesehead 04-30-2019 12:03 PM

SBG both of your quilts turned out awesome!

terriamn 04-30-2019 12:22 PM

QueenB can’t wait to see your feathers.

Sewbiz your leaves flow so nicely on your quilt I bet your feathers would also.

sewbizgirl 04-30-2019 12:56 PM

Thanks Terri... I appreciate the vote of confidence! Just need more practice...

Janice McC 05-07-2019 10:08 AM

Hello there, Sooners. Now that the blocks for Later have shipped, I’m going to take a few days off and then start working on a plan for the Joanelizbay blocks I received from you. A couple people expressed interest in helping to make a quilt so I’ll be in touch with them and keep you all abreast of the plan, when there is one. Thanks!

Darcyshannon 05-08-2019 10:32 AM

Hiya, I am getting my sooner blocks delivered with my laters and look forward to admiring them this weekend.

QBJ, I also like quilting my own quilts. Look forward to seeing yours completed.

I have one larger one and I am trying to decide if I want to quilt it or have one of the many women I know with long arms quilt it. Hmmm.

Yesterday, I went to a sewing party at a friend’s house and made a retreat bag. Once i get photos, I will post but probably not until next week.

Janice, could you put this one in the album too... also a Sooners quilt? Somehow it got overlooked.

Love them Sewbiz, they turned out great

Libster 05-09-2019 03:46 AM

Good job, Sewbiz! They're both beautiful quilts, but I really love that vintage fabric one. Yummy fabric.

sewbizgirl 05-09-2019 05:37 AM

Thank you! Everyone did a wonderful job on the blocks.

NZquilter 05-09-2019 07:09 AM

Oh, they both turned out lovely, SBG! I love the vintage fabric one too. So pretty and feminine!

Good evening, Sooners. I’ve pulled out Joanelizbay’s blocks and they’re on the design wall. Time to start working on them.

I have 14 blocks made by the group and 3 unused F8s that can probably be used to make 4-5 more blocks if I’m careful. Does anyone have any suggestions for a quilt or perhaps two small lap quilts? Suggestions welcome!

sewbizgirl 05-23-2019 08:54 PM

Joan's blocks came out pretty... I make lap quilts with 9 blocks plus sashing and borders about 2.5 to 3" wide.

I think I am going to sign off on this thread now so wanted to remind Janice to please post my two finished quilts (above) to the Completed Boom Quilts gallery. Thanks to Janice and everyone for a great swap!
