No, no, no... we love applique and you take it to another level! I think when Janice posted that some boomers don't like applique, she meant to say embroidery... as that is what we were talking about. Applique is a totally legitimate way to make a block. It's totally quilting. Keep appliquing!

Oops! Pardon me! SBG is correct, I meant embroidery however there are some who don’t like appliqué either. I’ve had a number of complaints about appliquéd Blocks not holding up well but not in the last several Booms. That’s probably why appliqué popped out instead of embroidery. In either case, blocks remain makers choice but everyone may request no embroidery or appliqué. Sorry for the confusion. :( And no offense to SBG, but adding embroidery is also a legitimate way to make a block for the purposes of this swap.

Klaws, you said it. So many awesome blocks this round but then the current one always seems best to me so I’m impressed when someone else praises the blocks and the boomers. It seems there are many patterns I’ve never seen before, or maybe it’s the color combinations everyone used to make them stand out. Whatever it is, please keep it up!

I understand not liking embroidery or appliqué. Sometimes I hand embroider. I believe that makes it more challenging if the quilt goes to a longarmer. With applique if it’s not tacked down properly it would unravel. If I know a quilt is going to be a charity quilt I lean towards piecing. I have had a fusible applique quilt on my bed for the last 10 years so I’m pretty confident of the fusible and tacking method I use.

mjpEncinitas, if I'd trust anyone with applique, it would be you. They do look sturdy as well as pretty.

Well, here I sit waiting for someone to fix the new windows - yet again. This time, we found some temporary wood blocks not readily visible until I tried to hang some curtains. They were painted over by the painters instead of being removed. Ridiculous. Anyway, the fellow is supposed to be here to remove and repair the areas. Sheesh. This gives me time to catch up on the gallery. It's another gorgeous GA day so once the work is done, I hope to take the pups for a walk. This weather is exactly why I love GA so much at this time of year. It could freeze again, and likely will, but not today. Besides, pollen weather is coming and life gets pretty miserable until it disappears. I'm going to enjoy this weather as much as I can. Have a lovely rest of your day.

Here's my three offerings for today. First one is for Marcialee. Second one is for MJPEncinitas. Third one is for Cheesehead. Hope y'all like them.

Pretty, Libster! I love that woven-looking block you do.

We have "pollen weather" here already... yuck (and ah-choo!).

Cheesehead 03-13-2019 12:49 PM

Thank you Libster for the beautiful block you made for me!

SBG, pollen is terrible here too. Started two weeks ago and will probably last until early April. It's so bad you can actually see it floating in the air.

I cannot wait for this weekend to end. We are moving and I will have a dedicated sewing room. I am off Monday, so I hopefully will get to begin the Later blocks. I like to spend a couple days cutting them all out, so I then can sew, my favorite part.

Libster, beautiful blocks.

Can’t even imagine pollen. A real mess here, 2 days of rain on top of our snow has made our side streets solid ice. Your tires follow the ruts but if you have to try and mover over look out. Little cars can’t do it and 4 wheel drive cars slide. Lots of creative driving
