Not exactly exciting an exciting name but accurate! Everyone in Later will be making blocks due Thursday, May 9, 2019. Details follow below but anyone who has participated in a recent Boom knows the basics. Please send me 19 F8s. Please wash your yardage, press, remove selvages, cut into F8s (approx. 18x11, no smaller than 18x10), bag in a quart-sized or smaller baggie (the smaller, the better), label with your name and any requests and then put them into a large ziplock-type envelope inside your mailing envelope with your name and address on it. Remember, you will be shipping with tracking. All fabrics must be in my hands on or before Thursday, February 7, 2019 and I will turn around and send them out on or before than Monday, February 11, 2019. If all fabrics are in earlier, I'll mail earlier. Please note that board participation is an essential ingredient in making this swap successful. So much information about the swap is found there, much more than I can possibly write in this sign-up post. Please understand it is your responsibility to read all posts and post at least weekly. Subscribing to your group’s thread is helpful. If something comes up and you cannot post, please have somebody email me. Absolutely no disappearing please! Shipping: When you mail to me, please do so in whatever manner you wish as long as you do so with tracking. Please review shipping rules below and be sure to send me the tracking number as soon as you get it. Be sure to include $8 for return shipping. If the money/prepaid labels are missing, I will hold your package until I receive it. No checks or Paypal please. Please have fun! It’s time to play with fabric you might not normally use, show your skills, make some new friends, say hello to old ones, and generally enjoy the experience. Let’s go! Rules/Guidelines: Please make sure to also refer to the basic policies that apply to all swaps through the board: Rules for Swaps and Similar Activities - Updated 8 December 2010. Fabric, Completed Block and Package Preparation: 1) Use only 100 percent quilting cotton. Please pre-wash and press your fabric without any fragrance residue. Remove selvages before cutting into Fat Eighths, generally about 18” x 11” but no smaller than 18”x 10”, no exceptions! Please keep off-sized pieces for your own use. If you send me smaller pieces, I will return them to you at your expense. 2) When mailing your F8s to me, please make sure they are individually sealed in a quart-sized or smaller ziplock-type bag, no hard zippers please. Label each F8 with your board name easily visible to me along with any instructions or color requests for your fabric. (Do not specify a recipient unless a fabric is being directed to a particular person.) Labels are useful to help the recipient prevent fabric mix-ups, something that’s easy to do. Please then take all the individually wrapped F8s and put them in a ziplock-type bag large enough to accommodate them all onto which you have written your name and address. When you send your completed blocks back to me, please seal and label your completed blocks with the owner’s name and your name easily visible to me in a similar manner as you did the F8s. 3) Please mail your F8s to arrive by Thursday, February 7, 2019. The earlier everyone gets them to me, the earlier they go out! Be sure to send me the tracking number as soon as you ship. 4) Carefully handle all fabric received and completed blocks, placing them somewhere safe until mailing time comes. 5) To help keep track of the fabrics and blocks made, I will establish an online Fabric Gallery. 6) You are required to keep in touch with your group by posting to the dedicated Boom 22 threads at least once a week. This is a requirement. If you don’t wish to keep in touch, this is not the swap for you. 7) All blocks must be completed within the time frame for the group and mailed to me with a tracking number. 8) All blocks must be 12 1/2” unfinished. Blocks may be regularly pieced, paper-pieced, appliquéd, whatever the block maker decides to do. It is up to each individual. Please do not request specific blocks as the idea is to let everyone, of every skill level, select their own blocks to showcase their talents and your fabric. 9) Most importantly, have fun! Important Shipping Details You must supply me with tracking numbers on all parcels sent to me and I will do likewise when mailing to you. All shipping costs are your responsibility. You may ship to me in whatever tracked package you like however I will only ship to you in USPS Padded Priority Envelopes (unless other arrangements have been made) at the rate in force at the time of shipping. Today that cost is $8 but it may change at any time. Please send a pre-paid envelope or label or you may send me $8 in well-concealed cash and I will supply the envelope. Envelopes with “regular” postage stamps will no longer be picked up by my carrier but must be taken in person to the post office so please don’t send them. Please note: There is no guarantee all blocks will fit in a single padded envelope if you are in both groups. I will contact you to discuss options if that happens. Keep in mind the following: You must be in good standing with previous swaps. Anyone with a poor track record of fulfilling swap commitments will not be permitted to join. If you sign-up and do not fulfill your commitment, negative feedback will be given. All skill levels are welcome but you must be able to sew a 12 ½ inch, basic, well-constructed block. The block doesn’t have to be detailed but it must not be falling apart. All seams should be ¼ inch or a scant ¼ with at least 12 stitches per inch. All fabric should be cut on the straight of grain to avoid wonkiness and fraying whenever possible. Blocks should not leave your hands until you know you have made every reasonable effort to get them as close to the 12 ½ inch size as you can get. We all respect new quilter’s need to learn and that will be taken into account. If you cannot consistently construct a 12 ½ inch block, this is not the swap for you. Please note: when you measure, measure units with an acrylic ruler as you go so you can pick up errors before the entire block is made. When complete, measure under an acrylic square at least 12 ½ inches square, not on top of it, after pressing. Also, be sure to allow yourself enough time to complete your full set of blocks. In other words, don’t leave them to the last week! The results can be hit-or-miss. And please be sure to clean up the blocks. Turn them over, trim your threads and cut dog ears. Please pre-wash your 100 percent cotton quilting fabrics without any fragrance residue. Please note that that some swappers may be smokers or have pets. If pets or smoke is a problem for you, this isn’t the swap for you. No public complaints or criticisms for any reason are permitted. All complaints must be addressed by Private Message (PM) or email me at . No Exceptions. OK, Laters, let’s play! |
Hello fellow Laters
|
Just sent my email to everyone. I'm off until later this evening. If anyone spots a problem or mistake, don't hesitate to let me know! Thank you!
|
I found my way over to my group. Howdy Laters

This keeps going through my head, I’m hoping if I type it once, it will go away: see you later alligator.....

Just finished packaging my F8s! Mailing when the PO opens up Tuesday. Later gaters! :) LOL |
I hope you all were able to check out the lunar eclipse- blood moon. It was absolutely breathtaking here. It is a cold, but beautiful clear night.

Hi Laters! I see you've found the thread. Yay! Thank you to everyone who has responded to my email. There are still a few more I need to hear from so if you haven't yet seen it, please check your email and reply.
So our names are rather humorous. I'm glad you are having a bit of fun with them. I'd actually hoped you'd find the goofiness of them enjoyable. JayneW, I missed the blood moon, too darn tired last night, but the pix are astounding. How beautiful! Oh, well, after seeing enough pix, in a while I'll think I saw it in person anyway. So, I see you are packaging up your F8s, getting them ready to go. Reminder about size - 10x18 but 11x18 is appreciated if you've got it. Labels with your board name on every small baggie are required along with your fabric requests if you have any (remember they are requests not requirements!) should be inside or on a label on the outside. If you don't have any requests, please let us know that, too. When those are done, please put everything inside a larger, gallon-sized ziplock that has your board name, group name, as well as your address in the event that a package comes undone during shipping. It may increase chances of getting back to you. It's not happened yet but that doesn't mean it cannot. (Now there's a lesson I keep having to learn.) Remember email me with your tracking number as soon as you get it. Do not post it on the threads. And while we're at it, be cautious if you take pix. Some people have posted pix of their prepped packages and both my address and theirs have been clearly visible in the photo. Be cautious! Anyone with any questions, let me know! I'll be around all day, on and off. I've got to decide on my fabric and prep it, see about my sewing machine and it's new terrible noise, donate blood, and finally get my car in for service. It seems I have a huge coolant leak. One of this weekends fun surprises! I wonder if the shop will be open today? Guess I'll soon know. Later, Laters! (Oh, that's never going to get old.) |
I need to put labels on all my fabrics and they will be ready to mail.

Good morning everyone! Getting my package ready today so I can mail to Janice tomorrow. Here is a pic of the fabric for the later group, the paisley. 2nd pic is of the coordinating fabrics that I have to go with it. I will use the green for the sashing. I would like you to use the off white as in the background and /or a dark chocolate brown. Please use only solids or tone on tones and no other prints. I would like this print to be the start of the quilt.

Beautiful fabrics Jaba!
Janice, I wrote my name on all my bags with sharpie, is that acceptable or do you specifically want labels? |
The clouds took over the sky last night so we didn't get to see the eclipse. Great night though for the bonfire! This morning, the moon was still there - bigger than ever! (Currently in the desert - about 7 miles from downtown Quartzsite AZ)
Jaba - you always have such beautiful interesting fabric - love the colors. |

Well, PamelaOry, you judge. The names need to be easily readable by the end of the swap. Sometimes marker rubs off with repeated handling and sometimes if there isn't a light fabric behind it, it becomes very difficult to read. See what you think. Be kind to my aging eyes and my sanity. :)

Oh TG, I remember that song like it was just out yesterday!
|
Jaba I made a quilt out of that fabric. Loved it then and love it still.
|
Gorgeous coordinating fabrics Jaba! I bet the final grouping of blocks will be beautiful together.

Howdy Laters! So glad that we are finally on a roll. I will be mailing my package on Wednesday. That is payday for me. Can't wait to get started.
Check out her houndstooth dress!
Oh my...to think that was the style back then! I had a pair of the white boots though:D |
Lol. I can’t decide if I love that dress or hate it. I’d love to make a houndstooth quilt but the dress is too bold of a choice for me. Come to think of it, I had those white boots, too.
Am sitting here at the auto repair shop. My car has a coolant leak and the poor thing started smoking 1 mile from here. That was one long mile! I’ll be here for the foreseeable future I suppose.
I'm in the Sooner group, but just went on YouTube to hear this. I've never heard it before, but what a cute song! Now I have it stuck in my head! Oh I wish there was music like this on the radio nowadays!
|
Mailed off my F8s this morning and emailed my tracking number to Janice. I am so ready.
I'm in both groups, so I plan to make my Sooner blocks first since they're due in 2 months. I will be watching what everyone is doing over here so I don't repeat a block already done by someone. It occasionally happens but with different fabrics it looks different anyway. My advice for all the new ladies....just relax and have fun with it. If a cutting mistake is made, speak up. We help each other out as needed. |

Not your average run of the mill day around here. Smelled gas in my enclosed front porch, called in the hotline number and they sai I had to leave immediately, not even hang up the phone and don’t turn on or off any switches. Dressed grabbed the dog and we sat in my car till the emergency crew arrived. Extremely scary. When they arrived checked the house etc. House ok but there was a leak in the main gas line. They called in more trucks and eventually fixed it. When they tried to relight furnace they found another problem. Now waiting once again for the next repairman. Will be here between Noon and 8 PM. Very thankful for their prompt service
|
I'm in the sooner boom. Terriamn I kind of had the same thing happen to me except that I came home (through the garage doors) turned off my security alarm and smelt gas in the house. I called the hot line and they came out. They said I was lucky that my house didn't explode from the heater kicking on as I was opening the garage doors, turning on the lights and turning off the security system. Come to find out one of my dogs stood up at the counter next to the stove and accidently pushed in on of the knobs and turned it as they were getting down. From that day on, my poor fur babies are locked in the laundry room when I'm not home.
|
Queenbarbie for sure you were lucky. My garage isn’t attached so I was able to use the opener and move car around front.

This past few days has been dramatic here in Okie land too. We have a good friend vacationing in Mexico City. He has been posting all kinds of fun pics. He posted he was on the roof of the apt (air b and b) for the eclipse, then nothing after that until about 5 pm and there was a post about him being robbed and drugged and then nothing. The post said he had to go to the local apple store just to make that post. Nothing about the post seemed like him at all. The wording and way it was written just seemed off. NO ONE had heard from him, not his local (in Mexico City) family or State side family or even his best friend. Air b and b was trying to locate the apt owner to find out if he was okay. Anyway a very tense 1.5 days and have found out this afternoon he is infact okay. He was drugged and robbed and the post was real, but he is okay and on the way home!!!!!
My father is in the hospital, just found that out a couple of hours ago, they are doing all kinds of tests. Don't know what it going to become of that yet. Tomorrow I have to take Gary for an out patient procedure. (nothing dangerous) So not sure when I am going to get to make the 80 mile drive to check on my father. I just couldn't today I was way too tired from the long night of worrying about our friend in Mexico City. |
Kass, so glad to read that your friend has been found and is on his way back home. Can't even begin to imagine the ordeal he has been through the past couple of days.
Hope everything will be fine with Gary and your father, positive thoughts coming your way for both of them. |
Boy Kass so glad your friend is ok and is on his way home. Sending positive thoughts and prayers for your father and Gary
|
Kass, my well wishes for Gary, your Dad and your friend are also with all of you. So glad your friend is okay and I hope your Dad will be too. I know Gary will be in very capable hands when you get him back home. You have enough on your plate right now. ((((((Hugs))))))

Terri, that would have scared the bejeebers out of me! I am so glad the situation was not as awful as it certainly could have been. Somebody up there is looking out for you. |
Wow! Some really close calls. I’m glad everyone is ok.
