Wow Libster, those violets certainly do like the exposure from that window!
Worked on a block yesterday just to warm up until the F8's are returned back to us.

Thanks Janice for letting us know... biting nails waiting to know mine arrived :D

Quick FYI. I believe the bad weather in various parts of the country is wreaking havoc with package delivery. Only half of those due in today have made it to my town and those are out for delivery. I know the others will show up sooner or later. (Yes, I said it!) Anyway, I’ll post as they roll in.

Libster 01-26-2019 03:02 AM

Hey, vikkim, don't panic over slow delivery yet. My finished blocks once took a detour to Puerto Rico between Ga and NC! Everything was addressed perfectly correct and everything....I guess they just needed a little tropical vacation before becoming a quilt.

Janice McC 01-26-2019 05:14 AM

If you kept the tracking number, you can see where it is at each step at USPS.com. It’s on the way here, delayed only. May arrive today as it left Atlanta at 2:26 this morning for my town. Most of the packages are experiencing delays. As Libster said, packages do take side trips occasionally but they have always made it here sooner or later. :). No worries allowed! Save that for something urgent, like no chocolate in the house. :).

travelinggramma 01-26-2019 07:03 AM

Oh Cheesehead, I am in love with the paisley material. Please be forewarned, there may be drool marks on it!!

The name of the block is Piper's Puzzle found in Volume 14 page 51 of the Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks magazine.

I thought about buying one then taking the sewing out of it and using the "panels" to make my own design...not sure I have the patience though! If anyone runs across fabric that has "hippy" panels or what would make a good hippy quilt please send me a link for it!! :) Im about out of the hippy era and into old age era!! :)

Here is the picture she is referring to, it's my all time favorite! This incredible quilt block was made by Kass several booms ago (before my time). Kass, hope you don't mind that I posted your picture once again but it's the greatest!

Beautiful Blocks

Seeing all of these gorgeous blocks makes me so excited for the F8’s to arrive! I feel like a little girl waiting for Santa!

Cheesehead, your block and fabrics are beautiful and Kass’ block too! Ladies, you all have so much talent :) I can’t wait to participate with and learn from y’all!

Happy Saturday!

joanelizbay 01-26-2019 09:37 AM

Here are my two fabrics. The orangey one is a repeat with an extra purple fabric to go with it. 15 of you will get that. The second fabric is the wild one on the left, four of you will get that.

anyone else besides Kass like to work with repeats? I can make sure you get the repeat. I put Kassaundras name on one of them as I bought the fabric with her in mind.

Im looking forward to getting my hands on your fabric.

Here are are the two blocks I made with the fabric:

Re the hippie quilt: It was Moonwork42029’s fabric, in Boom 17 topaz. I can not locate a final picture of the quilt so I don’t know if she ever completed it. The blocks were wonderful and her fabrics were perfect! Kass’s Block was terrific but there were several others that stood out as well. The two VW bugs and the woman in silhouette, made by Seasaw2mch. What wonderful blocks she made! Still miss her.

If you want to sift through the swap posts, you’ll find it here:
https://www.quiltingboard.com/member...280963-79.html

Edited to add: I just opened up the Boom 17 Topaz gallery if anyone is interested in the blocks all together. Enjoy.

PamelaOry 01-26-2019 12:26 PM

Thanks for opening up boom 17 gallery. As a newbie it’s interesting to see the blocks from a previous boom. Lots more applique in that boom. I love applique, I need to work on becoming a better appliquer.

Directing fabric!

For those of you planning to direct a fabric to a specific person, please make it impossible for me to miss the person’s name. I can tell you just go through the f8s in the order in which they come out of the bag. I do not look at each one to find names. Separate them in some way, make them stand out or they will not get to the person for whom you intend them!

Janice McC 01-26-2019 01:01 PM

I had to clean up my quilting area today and basically close it down. New windows go in throughout the house beginning Monday and I had to move everything near the windows to protect the items. That includes my sewing cabinet and many related items. After that, I went through some old stash, in particular a bunch of Christmas fabrics I “inherited” from my former boss’s wife a decade ago. I have no idea what I’ll do with the blocks (table runners maybe?) but I’m pretty sure that’s what I’ll send. Decision finally made. Whew!

Kassaundra 01-26-2019 01:27 PM

I really love how the Abby Road block turned out, and Janice is absolutely right Boomers went above and beyond on those blocks specifically, some really amazing work went into those blocks by everyone, you can tell we had fun w/ that theme. I have not seen any pics of it completed.

MJP, awesome I will have fun w/ those fussy cuts.

CH I never mind when people post pics of any of my blocks, I am not "territorial" about them at all, I love sharing them as much as making them.

Cheesehead 01-26-2019 01:28 PM

Thank you Janice for opening up the Topaz gallery, there are such beautiful quilt blocks, many of which I haven't seen before. Seasaw2mch made you a darling block with the bonnet filled with pansies, never in a million years would I have come up with such an original idea.

Janice McC 01-26-2019 01:37 PM

I have received many wonderful blocks through the years. Many. But that one is the most special to me. She was so creative. I think of her regularly. It’ll be two years in June since she died. :(

I have 6 F8s of each of these fabrics all prepped.

You can see the scale compared to the bobbins in the lower left. Both fabrics are directional. I’ll decide on final F8s on Sunday.

I love that block, my sister, who collects Albums(records), would love this block.

Lstew2212 01-27-2019 05:52 AM

I went to the post office on Saturday to mail my F8's and there was a pipe to bust in the lobby of our post office, needless to say I could not mail. I plan on stopping by on Monday Morning. Fabric will go out then.

I then went to our local Salvation Army. Someone had donated their entire Fabric stash. Lots of bags of fabric, Mostly yardage and fat quarters. I was in heaven. There were lots of civil war fabrics. I bought two bags full. $4.00 a piece. I would have bought more but I only brought a little cash with me. I hope to go back during the week to see if there is any left. I would buy it all.

Janice McC 01-27-2019 08:12 AM

Too bad about the shipping but early next week will be fine.

Score on the fabric!!!

Posting finished blocks

Gallery is up for both groups. Those who have made blocks already will find their blocks in there. It's very important, especially in the beginning, that you post your blocks to the correct group and post the fabric owner's name with every single block. I'll eventually learn everyone's fabrics but right now, I honestly don't have a clue! Some people will edit the photo with that info directly on the pic. It's not necessary for me but having the block owner's name with the picture will help me immensely. And don't forget to keep pic size to 200 kb or smaller. Thanks!

TheMerkleFamily 01-28-2019 10:47 AM

have4boys - The Hen Party is so much fun! Every one of those hens just make me want to giggle :D

Love all of the color in your blocks too! I'm paying close attention to those that have made blocks from their own fabrics.. I really like 3+ fabrics as it seems to really bring the focus fabric alive!
