I found you, Pumpkins!

Bugaroo 09-07-2020 03:15 PM

Yippee! My swatches are all washed, pressed, and packaged ready to go!

Janice, hope your headache is better.

ibex94 09-07-2020 04:02 PM

Hiya pumpkins! Baggies are ready but I need to put the note together. And then figure out how to post pictures to this newfangled board. Happy Labor Day!!

Libster 09-07-2020 04:03 PM

Mine go to the post office in the morning.

Macybaby 09-08-2020 03:41 AM

I still have to pick my fabric for this group. Have a dentist appointment this afternoon and don't plan on going back to work afterwards, so I'll take some time and pull something from stash.

I'm participating in both groups so will see how I can get everything in one envelope. When I sent my sister a large selection of masks, I vacuum sealed up the main bag. Not only does it take more air out, but it also makes things a lot more "solid" in the process.

Janice McC 09-08-2020 03:44 AM

Good morning, Pumpkins! My, how that word - pumpkin - brings a smile to my face. Makes me thing of all things autumn. Anyway, as usual I digress. Thank you for all the reply emails I’ve gotten so far. You all are on top of it! Some fabric will be on its way today. Woo hoo. Can’t wait to see what everyone is sending.

Have a wonderful day.

klaws 09-08-2020 05:10 AM

I'm here with all the pumpkins! I will be sending my package within the next couple of days. Can't wait to get started.

terriamn 09-08-2020 05:22 AM

Pumpkins

I haven’t picked out fabric for pumpkins either. Will send fabric from a previous Boom to add to my blocks. Would love to have enough blocks to make quilt for our master bedrooms

Pretty darn chilly here, 47 degrees but No snow in forecast. Thank goodness

Janice McC 09-08-2020 07:53 AM

A Boomer just asked whether she could send a second smaller piece of fabric to be used as an accent piece. The answer is yes. Try to keep the piece to 8 1/2 inches square or less to keep us from going right back to the squashing issue of too much fabric in an envelope.

Also, a reminder that generally Boomers keep the remnants from the F8s and accent fabric they receive unless there is a specific request by the owner to return them. Not everyone keeps them but it's been customary to do so throughout the Booms.

jaba 09-08-2020 08:21 AM

I have the groups all bagged, just need to label them and pack for Janice. Will mail in the next day or two. I think I will send the polka dots to this group and hopefully those doing 2 will get different colors to work with.

Bugaroo 09-08-2020 08:29 AM

Just went to the post office. It was closed for lunch : ( I'll go back this afternoon.

Janice was so right about 2 BOOMs not fitting in one envelope. I tried. I was not successful. Thus 2 packages are headed your way -- one for each BOOM. The 3 month (butterflies) has an envelope with $$$$. Thanks so much for all you do!

Libster 09-08-2020 08:38 AM

My F8s are off to Janice and my tracking number has been sent via email.

mjpEncinitas 09-08-2020 12:26 PM

Mine are off too. I got them all in one envelope but I only had 30. Not two complete sets. I plan to enter one of the finished quilts into the county fair next year.

Here is my fabric for the Pumpkin group.

I'm sending 10 different coral/pink fabrics so plenty of selection for those getting more than one.

I'll get them ready to mail when I get home from work today and they should be off tomorrow.

Janice McC 09-09-2020 04:46 AM

We have a clear and cool morning today. Had my first half cup of coffee outside while checking tracking. Thank you for being on top of shipping. There are already 7 packages on the way between both groups. Bugaroo, yours will probably arrive today. Woo hoo!

What pretty pinks, Macybaby.

Bugaroo 09-09-2020 06:09 AM

So pretty Macybaby. What colors are you requesting be used with them? White?

Definitely getting excited about playing with everyone's fabrics!

My BOOM 25 (Pumpkins) Fabrics

1 Attachment(s)
Hi all. Hopefully, my thumbnail will show up on this message. I have five different fabrics riding on my boomerang. Whatever you do with those focus fabrics is great with me. You can use as little or as much of the fabric being sent. Essentially, you can use any tone of the colors in the focus fabric but don't go darker (unless you use black. You can use black if you want to). Thank you all! Here is the note coming with every packet:

Hi Boomers!
The quilt block you craft for me is destined to be part of a kid’s Christmas Quilt. Use any colors you like but nothing darker than the colors in the focus fabric you have from me (exception – you can use black). If you use white, make it a true white (no cream or off white). True black will also play well with all my fabric choices but no grays or light blacks, please. A tree panel is likely to be a centering point on this quilt. As a result, I suspect some of the blocks will be set on point. Thank you for making my dream a reality! Have fun! Whatever you decide to do will be wonderful. Cheers! Juana (ibex94), Sept 2020, BOOM 25

Macybaby 09-09-2020 08:50 AM

Bugaroo - I'm thinking neutrals (white, beige, black, grey) along with reds and pinks - prints with a small amount of other colors will be fine as long as it "reads" one of those. Think Valentine. I had made a pink/red/white scrappy quilt that I really liked, but I gave it away and I've always wanted another. I will include the request with the fabric.

I'm thinking of making 20 or so more blocks to go with the Boom blocks. I like to make all different blocks, so was thinking of making a "pink" block using the same pattern for the boom block. This would also allow for me to try some more challenging designs as I could make mine first for practice.

terriamn 09-09-2020 08:54 AM

Macybaby very pretty corals and pinks.

Ibex always love making Christmas blocks.

My fabric is cut up, need to write my requests and label bags. Just ran to the store to buy sandwich baggies. Hope to mail tomorrow morning on way to hospital for my procedure

We have frost advisory out here for tonight. Way to early for that

Janice McC 09-09-2020 09:07 AM

The fun has started for me. Bugaroo's beautiful F8s have arrived. Lovely colors. Friday 5 more packages are set to arrive.

Terriamn, if I'm not being too nosy, what's the procedure you're going in for? If you told us, I missed it entirely in the craziness of the week. I hope it goes very well. Hugs...

Good for you, Ibex, on posting pix! Pretty Christmas fabric.

Here is my fabric for the two-month group. It's going to be all fall colors.

mjpEncinitas 09-09-2020 12:56 PM

Oh ibex. I made a pair of elf legs coming down the chimney for Jayne awhile ago. This would be perfect for this quilt, especially if it’s for kids.

ibex94 09-09-2020 01:22 PM

My fabric is on its way! I envy everyone that has access to cooler weather right now. I am having a blast reading through the sign ups messages tracking down the Pumpkin's first round of ideas. I am so excited to be doing another boom. Thank you for the gallery, Janice!

Have4Boys, yours is the first fabric I have definite plans for at the moment. Love that fabric! MacyBaby's Valentine theme has me searching my magazines and online block galleries to see if I can find a unique one that will be perfect for you..I am delighted with the variety of fabrics!

Sewbizgirl, we have another QB Boomer nearby.... Good to meet you Mobile. Always great to chat with you again, Sewbiz.

Are we going to get to play with your black and whites in Pumpkins, too,Terriamn?

mjpEncinitas and Libster -- my kind of fabric! Now let's see what I can do with it that will dazzle me, too. I think I have some of those in my collections, to practice on... Peacock..... hmmmm.

Bugaboo, what does your teacher friend teach? Good to meet you!

Klaws, that fabric is perfect for so many projects. I can't wait to get your note telling me what you ultimately are hoping for. I just keep thinking fairy quilt, lol. (one of the previous boom themes for me). Reminiscing is what happens because I haven't finished that quilt... or any of my other Boom quilts.

Jaba - I love the variety of colors! That will be one happy quilt. I need to reread the sign up threads to figure out what you're hoping for that quilt.

Back to my magazines for ideas. I am teaching full time this fall -- all online. You all will be my major distraction when I am not playing with grandchildren. Stay safe everyone!

That sounds like a perfect quilt block for this quilt! Thank you! Great to be Booming with you again!

Thank you, too, for your exotic fabric to work with. Will you have a full tail spread male peacock or one in sweeping tail profile for the center? I am assuming you're doing the iridescent male peacock, not one of the white male.

I made myself a block today.

ibex94 09-09-2020 03:38 PM

Lovely, Libster!!

Bugaroo 09-09-2020 06:35 PM

Macybaby -- love the Valentine theme!

Have4boys - your fabric looks like pure fun!

Ibex94 - my teacher friend is Mrs. Alexander and she teaches middle school science. I taught in elementary school with her for about 10 years.

Wonderful block Libster. I have an extra 8th to do the same but as of now, it's in the pile! I did clean said pile today. Organization makes me more productive but mostly I like taking a fresh look at my stash so nothing gets forgotten.

sewbizgirl 09-09-2020 07:14 PM

Cute block, Libster. I made one too but posted it in the Flurries group.

Janice McC 09-10-2020 02:31 AM

Good morning, Pumpkins! Libster, very pretty block. I'll be sure to add it to the gallery along with MJP's block soon.

I see more F8s are on their way. Tomorrow and Saturday more packages will arrive. Woo hoo!

ibex94 09-10-2020 08:36 AM

Bugaroo... science.... I now have ideas on how to do a block with your fabric for her quilt! Thanks!

Libster, I love you have the cat block you made me as your moniker. I need to get that quilt put together.

ibex94 09-10-2020 10:29 AM

Have4boys.... I know exactly what block to do for you. Can't wait to get your fabric in my hands! Bring on the fall!

So is one fall print ok?

Bugaroo 09-10-2020 11:58 AM

Have4boys... do you want the colors solid? Or prints / batiks ok?

ibex94... you have my curiosity in full gear!

hav4boys 09-10-2020 02:09 PM

You are welcome to use whatever you like with my fall animal print. I have no mental picture of this quilt in my head. I am sitting here trying to decide what I want to make my block with the material to be.

sewbizgirl 09-10-2020 04:02 PM

So. It may be time to start sharing where all the good patterns for 12" blocks are online, free, of course! Most of you already know these sites, but some of our newer ladies may not. So here are a few suggestions:

Patchwork Square
https://patchworksquare.com/

Favequilts.com
https://www.favequilts.com/Block-Patterns

Generations
https://www.generations-quilt-patter...-patterns.html

Jinny Beyer
https://jinnybeyer.com/block-library/

Quilter's Cache (The Motherlode, but you have to open each pattern to see the block.)
https://www.quilterscache.com/BlocksbySizeC.html

Anyone know of any others? Be sure you are making the 12" (or 12.5", unfinished) block. Some of these patterns have multiple sizes.

Happy planning!

Mobile 09-10-2020 04:08 PM

Mailed pkg today. Should arrive Mon.

SBG, thank you for sharing all those terrific sites!

Here is Mobile’s fabric. I’m posting it for her as she learns the ins and outs of posting here, a bit challenging at first.

Have a nice evening everyone!
