Janice McC 06-26-2021 08:20 PM

Lovely blocks, Terriamn and Juliasb!

Well, we bought a house today in NC. We've been searching for a couple of months without any success. It was a whirlwind 30 hours from learning about it, seeing it online, heading out the door this morning before dawn, seeing it in person this afternoon and having our offer accepted this evening. Now we are back home and my head is spinning. I cannot sleep for all the work I know we have ahead of us in selling this house. Oh, my gosh! What have we gotten ourselves into??? LOL.

wow! A new adventure begins!

terriamn 06-27-2021 04:48 AM

Wow Janice wonderful news I am thrilled for you. Are you going to keep your cabin?

We are taking our house off the market for a week. Moving all the furniture out to the garage, fixing a couple rooms that we didn’t originally have the time to take care of then hiring a stager and putting it back up for sale. Thankfully 6 of our friends from the lake will drive into the city to help us out for a day.

Plan to sew a couple more blocks today

juliasb 06-27-2021 05:01 AM

Wow Janice! So much work ahead of you. On the other hand how exciting! No wonder you can't sleep.

Janice McC 06-27-2021 05:23 AM

Finally got to sleep at about 4:30am on the couch under my Boom 24 quilt. Lol. I’m so tired now I may need a nap soon. Terriamn, we will sell the cabin next spring, essentially trading the two houses for the one in NC. We thought about putting both on the market now but that’s going to be too much for us to keep up with. One thing at a time. Re your house, it’s wonderful to have good friends who can help you. Good luck with the changes.

Regarding the swap, everything remains the same. Those of you who are ready to ship should let me know before sending to the same address you sent your F8s to. Our move will probably happen just after the swap ends but if there are any changes in plans, I’ll give you plenty of notice.

Congrats, Janice! You and your hubby are the fortunate ones, as houses are so hard to come by these days. NC is a beautiful state, and isn't that where your son and Charlie are located? Very excited for you!

I made two more blocks yesterday... for Jayne and AnnT. Hope you ladies like your blocks.

Wow! How exciting Janice! What an adventure!

Here's a few pictures from the redwoods. Some trees and wildflowers. I've been working on school prep this week, so haven't gotten back to sewing. Hopefully in the next couple days! It's HOT here in California so we are hiding inside...good time for sewing projects!

Janice McC 06-27-2021 09:41 AM

Thanks for the lovely comments all. We are lucky and happy to have had everything fall into place so well. I'm nervous but it'll all be well.Back to the Boom...Kristijoy, I love your pics of CA! Those trees are phenomenal. Great new blocks for JayneW. Thanks SBG and Julia. And your block for Annt59 is pretty, SBG. I like how you incorporated the other leaf fabric into the block.

klaws 06-27-2021 10:37 AM

Congratulations on the new house Janice, I have several friends who live in NC. What city will you be moving to?

Janice McC 06-27-2021 10:56 AM

Thanks, Klaws. Hendersonville, about 30 minutes from my son and his family.

Kristie those redwoods are amazing! It must be so humbling to stand among them and look up.

Janice, Congratulations on the new house..
All the blocks are just lovely.
I made two this weekend...

sewbizgirl 06-27-2021 07:47 PM

Nice blocks, AHWU. The red white and blue is so festive.

Janice McC 06-28-2021 06:34 AM

Good morning. There's trouble with Weebly this morning so I will have to load the new pix later when whatever is the problem is resolved.

I'm stripping a star and planet border from my younger son's (now almost 35) room. How I'd much rather be quilting!

Janice McC 06-28-2021 10:08 AM

Pictures have been added. :). Ahwu, love the block for Juliasb. I don’t recall having seen one like it before. I think Klaws will have a beautiful patriotic quilt when all is said snd done. SBG, you have your sewing mojo, bad hand or not.

Today’s the day that doesn’t end. Now we’re off to the vet to have her look at a “suspicious” spot (again!) on Ripley. I got all the wallpaper off. Woo hoo! Now to pick out some neutral paint. The agent is suggesting shades of white as the ubiquitous grey is, he feels, on its way out. I’ll take his word for it. I’m off.

Have a great rest of your day all!

terriamn 06-28-2021 10:47 AM

Sewbiz thank you for the great block. I love it.

Kristie your pictures are beautiful, hoping to see the redwoods in person one day.

Janice the articles on line and the stager I talked to said shades of white were the best colors otherwise very very light green, blue or gray. Our living room and dining room are warmer shades of beige. Hoping she can stage with enough white things we don’t have to repaint

Janice McC 06-29-2021 04:32 AM

Good morning. Just wondering how everyone is coming with their blocks? I know a couple of you are finished but just want to make sure everyone is on track to finish by mid-August. If anyone is having trouble, don’t hesitate to let me know. You can send me an email.

Can you believe it’s almost July?

Have a terrific day, zinnias.

You are close to Asheville. My best friend lives near Winston-Salem about 2-1/2 hours from where you are moving. I'm very familiar with North Carolina. I spent a lot of time there when I lived in Virginia.

JayneW 06-29-2021 11:13 AM

Howdy Zinnias!

Wow.... so much going on. Janice! Congratulations on the new house and best wishes for all the work in moving. My son just called last night that he FINALLY got a house in SLC. He and his girlfriend had been trying to get one for months... they finally were the lucky accepted offer.

Sewbiz and Julia - awesome block for me! Thank you!

Janice - I am fine for getting my blocks done. I know I'm off to a slow start, but I'll be done! Promise!

Carrie Nation is my nemesis block. I know for most of you it’s simple but for me it’s challenging. This is for Jayne.

mjpEncinitas 06-29-2021 03:54 PM

Our twin granddaughters are coming home Saturday, coincidentally on their due date. They have been in the baby day spa (NICU) for 10 weeks. They will still have feeding tubes and their parents are being trained on inserting and using them. They went from 2 1/2 lbs to over 7 lbs. we were lucky they didn’t have any other problems except the usual premie breathing and eating. They called them feeders and growers

annt59 06-29-2021 04:59 PM

Klaws, thank you very much for my block. It is very pretty.

it is supposed to be a wonky flag! It really looks great.

sewbizgirl 06-29-2021 05:01 PM

Great blocks, everyone. The flag is really cool.

How exciting that you granddaughters are about to come home, mjp! 7 lbs are good sized babies! Wishing them all the best.

juliasb 06-30-2021 05:49 AM

Thank you mjpEncinitas for the 2 beautiful blocks. I love them. It is great to see both fabrics in both blocks.

hav4boys 06-30-2021 07:37 AM

I love everyone's blocks. The are all wonderful. I am looking forward to getting this cast off so I can sew more efficiently. I did finish a butterfly quilt for my husband's co-workers new baby and a lap quilt for my husband. It is red, white, and blue animals. Just have to put the binding on it..

Happy July all.

terriamn 06-30-2021 07:44 AM

Julia, Sewbiz and Klaws, great blocks, they are so fun to look at and enjoy

MJp love your blocks and fussy cutting on Carrie Nation stcpaws wonky flag will really give the quilt a splash of movement

Wonderful news that the babies are coming home. Did you mention there names if so I have forgotten them

Hav hope cast comes off soon.
