Boom 29 Robins (sign ups closed)

Here is our brand new thread for our Robins Boom Swap group! Please to continue to chat, and post pics of your fabrics.

Janice McC 03-26-2023 03:52 AM

Found you! Robins it is! Love the name.

Lstew2212 03-26-2023 04:21 AM

I found our new home. Robins is a great name. Hello Robins, Good Morning

Libster 03-26-2023 06:02 AM

Good morning, Robins. My F8s are sitting here, all ready to go to the post office Monday morning. I'll post a pic of my fabric soon.
Everybody in the path of these storms, be safe. We've got thunder this morning, but so far, nothing bad.

Terri, if you are short on the multi colored fabric, I have more than enough to make a block or two for you.

Cheesehead 03-26-2023 07:14 AM

Love our name the Robins! Very warm and humid here but no storms, when we have bad storms they come in from the Gulf.
Even though it's warm and humid, this Yankee has the windows open. Back in Wisconsin they had 8 inches of snow where we live, so happy to be here in a warmer climate for now.

Terri, this is the almost finished quilt using your fabric. It still needs the binding and a quilt label.

Tweet Tweet Tweedle Deet! Have a great boom, Robins!

That's a beautiful quilt Cheese! :)

ibex94 03-26-2023 08:16 AM

Cheesehead you sure make beautiful quilts!! That is a great pattern you picked to showcase those fabrics!

Hello Robins!
Cheese, what a gorgeous quilt and how nice of you to offer to share some of your fabric with Terri. Funny but I have been looking at that quilt pattern lately, to use with my Kaffe Fassett fabrics. It's beautiful.

So at the end of this week I should have all of your F8s and be sorting and shuffling them to send back to you. I should be able to mail them one week from tomorrow, Monday April 2.

Here is my second fabric for the swap... kittens in Santa suits, playing musical instruments. So kitchy. And I'm posting another shot of my construction machines fabric for Janice, hopefully closer to the right size.

Mona G 03-26-2023 02:32 PM

Beautiful quilt cheese.
Snow is almost gone here in west central WI.
Prayers to all effected by the storms.

Hi Robins! I have decided to use my first collection of 19 for UFO completions. I had 2 panels last time and mis-counted, I don’t have enough 12” blocks to surround the panels. So, I have 5 Halloween and 7 little women packages. I bought the FQ bundle so each little women package has a different little focus piece and a 13x18 background piece. Then the last 7 are backgrounds for a previous row by row. My sweet daughter wants more rows so I’ll make up any additional beyond the 7 I’m including. Here are the photos, I’m including photos of the two panels. Hugs!

Here is the second fabric, did you like modern blocks last time? Let’s have fun with this Star Wars fabric, if you use any background fabric I’m asking for pure plain white, not white on white or a pattern. This is a retro print, so use the colors in the fabric. It’s for my 30 year old Star Wars fan son. Boys will be boys :-) I have 18 of these and 1 more for the row by row from group 1. Thanks and hugs!

sewbizgirl 03-26-2023 08:50 PM

Fun fabrics, Reba! It will be fun to do another block for your quilts, plus the cool Millenium Falcon fabric! Be sure you put color preference on a note in your baggies.

Everyone please be sure your F8s will reach me by Friday!

Janice McC 03-27-2023 03:40 AM

Good morning, Robins! I'm up to date on putting your f8s in the Fabric section of the gallery except for Hav4boys as I don't know which of those fabrics (post 42 of sign-up thread) you decided on. If it's easier, please just repost here at your convenience. I'm about to open up the Main block gallery so you can look for it soon.

SBG, my package should arrive today.

Hope everyone has a fine week!

terriamn 03-27-2023 05:57 AM

Cheesehead that would be fabulous if you could make me 2 blocks so I will have 20 blocks for the quilt. Sewbiz should I send an empty baggie with cheeseheads name on it with my fabric request? The quilt is beautiful Cheese.

My fabrics are ready to go to post office today!

SusieQOH 03-27-2023 08:26 AM

Hi fellow Robins!
Lovely pictures, everyone!
SBG- since I just mailed my package I quickly looked up your city when I heard about the horrible tornado that leveled a town. So, so sad!
Hope all is well with you.

Libster 03-27-2023 11:48 AM

My F8s went in the mail this morning. Tracking number has been emailed, Sewbiz.

All2Pieces 03-27-2023 12:10 PM

Hi all

Good morning Robins! Great name!

Beautiful quilt Cheese! Everyone has such lovely fabric.
My baggies are on the way to our fearless leader. I am having trouble shrinking photos down to an appropriate size. My original fabric wasn't 100% cotton so I went with another from my stash. It is very bright and breezy with a texture like seersucker. I hope no one has an issue with it. I had to supplement the 1960's design with a few blue and whites. Please everyone, just have fun with it.
Stay safe and happy quilting.

Trying to post a pic of my fabric. Hope it works.

ibex94 03-27-2023 01:00 PM

I just read a blog that had a bunch of pictures from the most recent quiltcon. It gives me a much better idea of what "modern" quilts are really like. Besides the nontraditional piecing, the quilting is very dense and lends a totally different look to the quilts. Thought the boomers discussing modern styles in the last couple of booms would get a kick out of it. https://www.leilagardunia.com/blog/m...-2023-quiltcon

th
No, instead let's have Cheese just put the extra in with her other block for you. Two blocks in one bag will keep our count at 19 so we don't go nuts.

Yes, we are fine here. We are about 1 hour away from Rolling Fork, where everything is just rubble now. :(

A2P, I'm sorry but our information email stated that we use 100% Quilting Cotton only. Seersucker isn't quilting cotton, tho it may be cotton. To me "breezy" means "thin", and it may be hard for some of us to sew with. We have a variety of skill levels in this group. Do you have another quilting cotton that you can send instead?

Love the magnolia fabric, Libster. That's our state flower.

Libster 03-27-2023 05:53 PM

I love magnolias too. I'm asking for a cream solid or COC (cream-on-cream) background with matching golds and greens in TOTs (tone-on-tone). I think there's enough variation in the gold and green so it should be doable for everybody. I am asking that no other large prints be used. I want these magnolias to shine!

sewbizgirl 03-27-2023 05:59 PM

That sure will be a beauty, Libster!

sewbizgirl 03-28-2023 11:07 AM

Thanks for posting the link to those QuiltCon photos, Ibex. I am intrigued by that style and trying to learn it. Most of those, tho... I wouldn't have known where to start! I did so LOVE the Lava Lamps! That one I understood!

I got MonaG's package of F8s today. Thank you Mona. Remember your F8s need to reach me by Friday (3 days away), so hopefully everyone will be mailing their packages by today.

By the way, if you make your shipping label with Pirate Ship, rather than USPS.com, you will only pay $8.30, rather than the USPS price of $10.40. I like saving $2 per package. They still go through USPS, it's just that Pirate Ship gets a bulk discount they pass along to you.

sewbizgirl 03-29-2023 07:38 AM

Good Morning, Robins!

I made my first block from my Christmas Kittens fabric. It's from Tula Pink's City Sampler book. The red and the green are the colors I am asking for in my blocks... those plus a little white is ok too.

Looking forward to what shows up in my mailbox today. The fabrics that have come so far are beautiful! Next week we should all be getting our F8s and making blocks!

Annaquilts BOOM 29 set I

Theme-Houses, Realistic Building Materials

Colors- I am hoping for realistic house themed blocks in NATURAL shades. NO white or brights please.

Style- piecing, applique and embroidery.

Any leftovers, I'd gladly welcome back.

Thank you for helping me make these blocks. I am really looking forward to seeing all the fun creations you make. Have fun.

Annaquilts BOOM 29 set II

Theme-Florals ( Kaffe, Westminster, Rowan, Deb Strain) I am hoping for floral themed blocks. Please use a lot of the floral fabric.

Colors- NO white or yellow please. I like pink, violet, blue and greens for this quilt . If possible use similar fabrics or tone on tone. The tone on tone will help pop the floral fabric.

Style- piecing, applique and embroidery.

Any leftovers, I'd gladly welcome back. I bought these fabrics resale in a small bundle and hope to complete the quilt with the leftovers..

Thank you for helping me make these blocks. I plan to make a quilt for my granddaughter, a pip squeak redhead, heading towards puberty. I am really looking forward to seeing all the fun creations you make.

Mona G 03-29-2023 11:06 AM

Those fabrics are beautiful.
