Terri, love the cracker candy, too! My DIL introduced us to it a few Christmases ago. So yummy.

How was the bean soup and bread, Janice? I'm sure it was delish!

I have been out running around all day. First, a dr's appt this morning and then Christmas shopping the rest of the day. Whew! I'm pooped! But I think I am finished with the shopping. Just waiting for a couple of things I have ordered. Thank goodness I don't have to go out to shop again! I couldn't believe the crowds and the traffic jams!

Tomorrow is my small quilting group's meeting. We will have show and tell and then go out to eat together. It should be fun.

SBG, a quilting group show and tell and then lunch sounds like a perfect day! Glad your shopping is done. Ours is too. The soup was excellent and the bread crusty on the outside just the way I like it. It’s a no-knead recipe and super easy.

Terriamn, I looked up a couple of recipes for your toffee. Looks easy and delicious and too much like something I’d keep eating until it is gone!

Today we’re taking Ernie on an adventure to a brewery that’s having a fundraiser for the Humane Society. We got Ernie through them. It’s a couple of hours of pix with Santa, local sellers and music. We’re not sure how he’s going to handle being around other dogs and lots of people but we can snatch him up if he gets overwhelmed. Funny, yesterday, I was walking home from one direction while DH was walking Ernie toward me. Ernie has limited vision and is deaf so he didn’t recognize me. He started growling! It wasn’t until he got a sniff of my hand that he relaxed and started wagging his tail. Surprised us both. lol. Thirteen years old and still a tough guy!

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend.

Good Morning! Janice love the fact that Ernie is protecting DH and that he knows your scent and happy to "see" you. Soup and bread is always a favorite here. Made a NE Clam chowder the other day and brought back memories of New England.
Took our Roxy for annual visit to vet yesterday - they haven't seen her since 2022 but brought all her records from NH.. Says she has to loose weight although she hasn't gained anything in over a year. She wasn't happy last night when her bowl was empty at her midnight grazing. I will give it a few weeks and see. So hard to tell when you have a mutt and don't know what size they are supposed to be! it doesn't prevent her from running and wrestling at the dog park twice a day.
Finally got all the packages to post office. I was watching the three and they all were brought at same time, but arrived in phoenix and different times and now only one has left there! I feel like when we watched the TV radar where Santa was!!
Enjoy your day - you only get it once

We went to our Christmas party last night and played right, left and center with 14 people. We play 2 games with quarters and one game with dollars. It was rowdy and tons of fun. Then we played catch phrase the guys against the girls. Again very fun but what made the evening stand out was one of our friends who is pretty quiet and grumpy was laughing and happy as could be, so nice to see him so happy

Thankfully the freezing rain that was predicted turned out to be just a dusting of snow and temp is up to 23. A heat wave

Ernie is turning out to be quite a good watchdog. Hope he enjoys being with all the other dogs and the people don’t overwhelm him

Today we make leftse, a holiday favorite.

Today is going to be a quiet one but I am going to have DH’s help on adding the backing to his quilt. lol. He is oblivious it’s for him! He seems to think it’s another donation quilt and I’m not going to set him straight. Roflol.

Have a nice day.

Janice McC 12-15-2024 09:53 AM

lol. DH just sandwiched his own quilt, no questions asked. Too funny! Now to begin quilting it in a few hours.

That is funny, Janice! I've sewn shirts for hubby right in front of him and he never knew. We sew so much, they don't pay attention!
Yesterday's quilt group meeting was fun. We played a game and it happened to be.... Left, Right, Left! She must have modified it somewhat because everyone won a small prize.
Lunch together was good at a local Mexican restaurant, and then we hopped over to a big craft fair going on that one of our quilters was participating in.
One sad thing, one of my quilting friends who used to run the group announced that she had dementia (we all already knew) and needed to step down from all of her responsibilities. She had driven there herself, but when she left the meeting she got confused and forgot how to work her car and started crying! I drove her and her car home and another lady picked me up and drove me back to the group. SO SAD. She used to drive our whole group around to out of town shows and shopping, using the big church bus. Dementia is a terrible thing.

Hope you all are having a great Sunday!

SBG, I’m sorry your friend has such a difficult road ahead of her. We’ve seen dementia in our family twice and it was heartbreaking both times. I’m so glad you were there to come to your friend’s rescue. She’ll need her friends.

My son asked me what I wanted for Christmas and I told him a game of Left, Right, Center. I’ve never played it before but I keep seeing it pop up in here so I’d like to try it with my family.

terriamn 12-15-2024 02:57 PM

Janice I think the game is about 5 bucks, it’s only 3 dice. Comes in a small tin with the dice

I decided to take a break from baking and started opening boxes so I could start wrapping gifts. The first one I opened had what I ordered and some O rings with 2 different return slips. Thought ok I don’t need the O rings not a biggie. Considering the return slip in the the other package I decided to open it and yes it had probably been returned because there were only 5 pieces in it instead of the 6 listed. I am going to write all over the box saying missing a piece so no one else has to deal with it. Next was a super heavy. Box, opened it and it was inside another box. Oh great not good. Sure enough the inside box was mangled. Thankfully the 25 pound weighted blanket wasn’t harmed at all. A third package is totally lost.

It wasn’t a real productive afternoon

Terriamn. Rats, all those expectations gone. :(
SBG, I am so glad that you were there to help your quilting friend. I do hope she is not living alone.
Janice, I used to sew things for my children and they would have no idea what I was making. It was such fun to be so sneaky right under there noses.

This is party week for me. Yeah, such a party animal! Quilt group, wool applique group, group from church and Christmas with my brother and his family. This will be a difficult week to keep to my eating plan! ;)
