I received a very nice PM from OdessaQuilt. Thank you very much. It was very supporting and gave me tips to get organized with the labels, mail and how to select blocks. Love you already OddessaQuilts. You are a generous person.
I will be looking for my fabric this week.

Okay ... Okay ... who keeps twisting my arm ... ;) (feels it being twisted) ... I hear the squishies calling my name ...

I have about 4 total quilts to do and all this stuff piling up ... by Christmas and getting ready to take a class ... if it wasn't for that ... I would do it ...

I will be watching 3.0 and signing up for 4.0 ... but I will miss this swap ... it gave me so much confidence :D If I didn't have so much going on (and I may be switching positions at work in addition to everything else) ... otherwise I would join

BUT I am your encourager and cheerleader :D

Robin! You're on the cheering squad with me!!

We'll have fun getting our stuff caught up, and dreaming about our 4.0 blocks!

OdessaQuilts 08-02-2010 07:59 PM

Hey, look, ladies ......... I only made pompons for MJ -- my stash is far too important to me to be making them for EVERYONE! Oy! You guys are just like my kids .... what one gets, the rest want ...... ahhhhhhhh!

Just kidding! Jetnica and Robin, I will miss the two of you this time around, but I know you'll be cheering us on from the sidlines.

I can hear you now: "two, four, six, eight. oh, whose blocks are really great? yours! yours! yours!!!!!"

You guys are just too funny!

Odessa

Soon as April sends the address list and gives us the official "okie-dokie" ....

Oy! Such fun to be had!

kwiltkrazy 08-02-2010 08:48 PM

OK, Thank you. Guess I go shopping in my stash, and see if I have to hit LQS.

KarenBarnes 08-02-2010 08:52 PM

Guess I'll have to go shopping! Ah darn! :)

reneebobby 08-03-2010 03:23 AM

Oh, boy we need a cheering squad this time around with Christmas lurking in the background. hahahaha I know 2 blocks a week sound like a lot but once you get the hang of it they go fast. I sometimes don't sew but pick fabrics and cut and cut and cut then one day just park my fanny on a chair and sew and sew and sew then no sooner than you know 10 blocks are flying out the door heading back home to mommy or daddy. hehehe

LovingIzabella 08-03-2010 03:48 AM

As soon as signups close and we have a full 36 member roster I will email out the spreadsheet of addresses used for mailing labels and tracking your F8s and blocks.

This is going to be fun especially if we have cheerleaders!! We will miss you ladies but appreciate the support on the sidelines!

Hugs
April

ONLY ONE SPOT LEFT :-)

reneebobby 08-03-2010 03:53 AM

Yeap, need cheerleaders, but at least my fabric was ordered and shipped same day from thousands of bolts. I have never ordered from there so I hope (went cheepest shipping) that it arrives this weekend so I can do the most dreaded chore in my life, wash, dry and IRON oh I just hate the IRON. It's strange how I like to quilt and I have to use an IRON.

LovingIzabella 08-03-2010 04:12 AM

Wooohooo we have hit 36 but I am waiting for one lady to confirm she wants in on the swap and I want to see what my doctor tells me today as far as surgery dates. If all goes well I should have the list out tonight :-)

Welcome Montanablu.

Hugs
April

reneebobby 08-03-2010 04:13 AM

Wow that is fast okay send it over when ever.

wendsy 08-03-2010 07:12 AM

I've found 3 coordinating fabrics in my stash-none big enough to cut the entire amount of 8ths. I was wondering if I should include a swatch of the other fabric with each 8th? I don't want to limit anyone's creativity but I would like one quilt in the end, not 3 different wall hangings. Thanks for your imput.

Wendsy, that is a good idea. People have done that before. I will be sending "co-ordinating" instructions with my F8s this time.

Woo!Hoo! Signups are ready to close! Squishies are about to fly!

My dh stopped to check the mail this morning, when he came in he said, "nothing squishy in the mail box. I guess it's too soon."

I told him we're still signing up now, but it will be soon.

Yippee! Almost boomerang time!

Oh, yeah! I'm ready! Time to cut!

I am ready! My squishes are ready to go :-) as soon as the adresses arrive.

I managed to buy just the one piece of fabric but DD put a few in the cart  Too bad for her I am not willing to give up my temporary sewing room for her to make anything. I only have this space for another 4 weeks.

The only ones I share my room with, and not by choice!!!!

I'm awaiting not so paciently for my fabric that I ordered yesterday.

purplemem 08-03-2010 09:24 AM

ReneeBobby,
when I order fabric I want it NOW! Like on my doorstep immediately! I don't understand the 1 or 2 day shipping thing-that should be the slow/cheap options, when I pay priority I expect to hit the ''send" button and then go to the front door! LOL!

reneebobby 08-03-2010 09:35 AM

lmao I went snail I hope it doesn't take to long but att least they shipped the same day. hehehhe

Can you say I'm in love Purple? I order fabric yesterday and it shipped yesterday and it's here TODAY!!!!!!! Okay 8 yards of fabric to wash, dry and do the IRONING. Can you tell I hate IRONING. But I'm in love with thousands of bolts (which by the way ladies) I took the cheapest shipping. hehehhe

purplemem 08-03-2010 10:49 AM

Tip for washing 8 yards of fabric:
Safety pin the selvedges together to make a tube, put in washer that way and dry that way also, make sure thoroughly dry, then unfold to iron. Much less wrinkles!

MJ, why didn't you give ME that tip when I was washing 10 yards LAST TIME?????

Now I've got 14.5 yards to wash, but it's in 6 or 7 different pieces, not one really long piece.

[walks away, shaking head, muttering to self, "and to think I gave her my best purple pom pons"...............]

[boy, ya think ya know some people ...........]

oy, what to do, what to do, what to do .........

CraftsByRobin 08-03-2010 11:30 AM

Great tip ... I wish I had known it as well ;)

shaysmema 08-03-2010 11:33 AM

You ladies are too funny. Wish I had the safty pen hint few days ago when I was washing my fabric. Oh well, next time. Mine is all ready to go washed, dried, ironed, cut and in baggies with name labels. All I need are names and addresses then to the post office I go.

Thanks for the great tip. How close together do you pin them?

Jupiter 08-03-2010 11:51 AM

I was going to use up some of my stash. Use some of my not so favorite ones just to get them gone. Then had second thoughts. They won't be gone forever, and will eventually be a quilt in my house. I want something that really appeals to me. So shopping I went, fabric I bought (very special, I think).

I determined that the stuff in my stash isn't bad, it just is too much oranges for me. I am a blue-green lover. So the oranges are going into the give away pile. I bought some cute orange and green and brown, trees with monkeys, that will finish out the oranges into pillow cases for the kids at the homeless center.

I see I am rattling here, sorry. Can't wait to get cutting!

4-6 inches

Great, thanks a million

hahaha now you tell me to late in the washer. I guess I'll struggle. hahaha I think my mom ruined me with the ironing, when I was a kid.

Will this work, I think there is enough color to give you all a lot to play with.

It's an oriental print

You can send it all to ME! :P

I can imagine a LOT of lovely blocks with that fabric!

Oh! And as for you newbies who're sooooooo ready to jump in RIGHT NOW, let us old dogs get caught up! Some of us are still diddling with 2.0 Boomerangs that are straggling in! What is your RUSH???

edited to add: I hope you newbies all realize I'm just joking with ya! yes, I seem to have a slightly warped sense of humor

kwiltkrazy 08-03-2010 12:36 PM

Not rattling this is how we get to know each other ... I'm a purple/blue/red person myself ... and some greens (not into lime green but the darker greens) ...

Warped sense of humor? Isn't that a requirement for quilting??? ;)

fryguymoore 08-03-2010 01:01 PM

What is your RUSH???
My sewing room is going to be harshly snatched away from me when my kid returns home in a month :( :( :(

You oldies (that is the opposite of newbie, right???) have been saying "squishy" for a very long time and I never get to say it. I love that word, I even tried to name a guinea pig that once, but the kids wouldn't go for it.

Get's start!!!!

hoppyfrog 08-03-2010 02:27 PM

Ya know we're all a bit warped and crazy. We take big pieces of fabric and cut it into little pieces and sew it back together to make big pieces. To a non quilter I'm sure that doesn't make an sence at all.

LovingIzabella 08-03-2010 03:32 PM

LOLOL I love you all!! Us oldies move a little slower sometimes but we do love those squishies :-)

First I will say if you do not want the oranges Jupiter I would be more than happy to take them off of your hands and send you some blue green stuff :-)

Second I love your fabric choice kwilt-that will be a stunning top for sure.

I have not even decided what I am going to use this round yet!

MJ-thank you for the tip-I love you lady! How are you feeling??

Hoppy I think you are correct..only quilters see what we are doing as normal lol Everyone else thinks we are crazy for that exact reason!

I am waiting on one last confirmation and as soon as I have that the list will go out and we can begin :-)

Hugs
April

letsquilt 08-03-2010 04:36 PM

I need to ask a silly question, How many yards of fabric do we need? Can we choose to do only a 2 color quilt?
