I've received some blocks I'd like you too to see.--------

hoppyfrog made this one for me. She paperpieced it, that is why it is so precise. I know how much extra time this method takes (I'm working on learning it now). It is just beautiful! I love the way you used my fabric and your choice that you put with it. Thanks so much for taking such care in doing my block. It will look so nice in my Christmas quilt. Sue

Marybeth made this one for me and when I saw it, I got all excited to receive another block that it had fussycuts in it. The Pointsettias stand out so well against the cream- on- cream (the camera makes it look white) fabric. They are so pretty! I guess you know they are one of my favorite flowers. You did a good job at "finishing it off" it just adds to its beauty. You don't know it, but we now have a secret), but I have had to do what you had to do to make your blocks 'complete'. Glad to know I'm not alone. tehe

This one was made me from Kathy N "Spring". I don't know if you noticed it, Kathy, but I gave you different fabric on purpose. (Not to bore you or anything!) As you can see in this picture the red has twinkling stars in it and picks up the yellow in the complementary fabric. It is a very pretty block and I really appreciate your care in doing it for me. Thanks.

You're way ahead of me.

I just spent three hours " creating" a block for Quilt Mom and What Fun That was!
Now I get to put it together again and sew it. That will be "some fun" too!!

I had to take a picture of it with the pieces laid out so I would remember where they will go.

As you can guess - lots of little pieces

She gave me a challenge with all tose colors and I took her up on it. I sure hope she likes it. I don't know how long it will take me to sew it.

Don't hold your breath Quilt Mom :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D

All the blocks made for Roseysue are gorgeous, as are all the blocks for everyone that we've seen so far.

Still out of town on our way up to Bend, Oregon today. Spent the last few days at our friends' house in Redding, Ca. Visited 4 quilt shops in the area! Fun, inspiring, and, of course, found a few pieces of fabric I had never seen before and just had to have a bit!!!!!

I have 5 F8's with me to make. I have picked out the coordinating fabrics for each and decided on patterns for each. Hoping to cut them all out in the next couple of days.

I received a block today from babeyruth, I really love the block you made. I have received 8 blocks so far and had them all laid out thinking if I wanted to make two small quilts or one big one... I am still debating, but all the blocks I have received so far really go together nicely.

Camera is fixed and doing a lot better so I will try and get them uploaded to photobucket. But it might still be a few days, I am finishing up a wall hanging for Halloween. I just realized it is next Monday! Wow where did this year go!

OK! Thanks for brightening my day. I had to laugh at your comment about a picture to remember where pieces fit, 'cause I do that too!

Someone came to me Sunday with pieces cut for a halloween costume and begged me to put it together for her daughter. So I can't work on the blocks right now. Just when I was on a roll... I do have several done, just not sent.

What singer machine (model) do you have? Is it worth a new bobbin? Some of the old girls are worth it to repair. Some are not.

Can onlu hope your happy with my fabrics and the blocks. I recieved 4 blocks in the past week, just got a chance to podt and say thankyou. Thanks to happyfrog, sewhappy30, jillnjo and marytoddliz. By the way love the pinking cutter!! Only have 2 more blocks to do but waiting for the fabrics. This has been lots of fun. Picking different designs, (all I have never done before!) and fabric. I'm glad I decide to try this. You all have made this fun.

quiltin'gran 10-25-2011 05:32 PM

Received a squishie from dungeonquilter today...

Waiting for squishies from brenda21 and deltadawn...

marytoddliz 10-25-2011 09:13 PM

No squishies today.

I was really thinking how little I know about quilting as we did this exchange, but I feel that I have learned a lot. I love seeing the blocks posted, there are going to be some very nice quilts from this group!

I am working on a dress for my Granddaughter. My daughter found a picture of herself when she was two. She asked me if I could make a dress for her daughter just like it.

How funny, when she was little I loved making clothes for her, she was such a tomboy hated wearing dresses. Now she can't wait to get her daughter in the same dress.

LovingIzabella 10-27-2011 05:23 PM

Just wanted to pop in as I often do on these swaps just to post a few gentle reminders :)
Please remember to check the size of your finished block. They should be 12.5" when you send them on home.
Also please do not forget to hold off on the heavy fragrances, perfumes or such to help those with allergies not be attacked my the meanies :)
Have fun and learn lots of new things!
Any questions as always send me a message!
Hugs

I am going to try to post pics of the wonderful blocks that came winging home. (My computer kicked me off once already...)

They are great additions to my growing stack of blocks for the spring quilt. Thanks so much!! You are all so creative.

from jillnjo - a basket of flowers

from babeyruth - a block new to me, Does it have a name?

from hoppyfrog - this is 'wild thang'!

Quilt Mom 10-27-2011 06:25 PM

Looking at the above pictures, they are all dark. Guess I will learn to take pics in the daylight for better results  All the blocks are very pretty, and my spring quilt is shaping up nicely.

I have received f8 from quiltin'gran and dungeonquilter. Still looking for f8 from brenda21 and deltadawn. I'll be checking the box early tomorrow. Hope, hope, hope! Then I will be stitching up a storm!

yayaquilts 10-27-2011 10:16 PM

Love all the finished blocks made by the spring boomerangs!! Everyone is so creative. Got my 5 blocks cut so they will be ready to sew when we return home, the end of next week.

Still on vacation--it's cold up here in Oregon, especially since we live in north San Diego County where it's practically 70 year round, almost anyway! Way colder than we expected....it was 20 degrees the first morning and got up to 47; 18 degrees in the am, 38 at 10 am, and 51 in the afternoon; 20 again and up to 50 today-supposed to warm up a bit tomorrow and Friday.

While my husband has been fly fishing, I've been picking fabrics and cutting the pieces for a BOM I'm doing with one of my BFF's!! Nice to have the time to do this, since the hardest part about doing a BOM is choosing the fabrics from one's collection!! Does it take anyone else a lot of time to choose just the "right" fabric for each part of a BOM!??

dconroy84 10-27-2011 10:52 PM

I recived my grownup block from Marybeth today OMG it is beautiful. The butterfly is just to much. Thank you Thank you. I think I'll try and figure out a way to put your block in the center of my quilt when I put it together. As soon as I can get a picture I will up load it.

marytoddliz 10-28-2011 10:52 AM

I haven't got any mail lately, but I am making blocks today. I wish I could do over some of the first ones I sent out, as I realize how bad they must have been. I have been teaching myself the art of quilting via U-tube...

Most of my previous quilts have been memory, and making them with "traditional non quilting" materials. Fun but really nothing to teach the true art of Quilting. This swap has showed me how much I don't know and I feel like I am learning stuff all over again! See it is never to late to learn!

Happy Quilting ladies

There are a lot of good videos on you-tube. I have learned a lot there. Part of quilting that helps me is to find a person to work with. Then we help each other through the learning process. Maybe you can find someone near you to piece/quilt together. There is SO much to quilting that we never finish learning. So keep up the good work!

quiltin'gran 10-28-2011 05:28 PM

Two beautiful blocks came home to stay...one from hoppyfrog--
the colors you picked go perfectly with the fabric as does the name of the block, "Duck Tracks", for I do make tracks when I need to...

The second one from Sewhappy30 again had great choices of color to go with all the color in the fabric I sent...the block, "Contrary Wife" sometimes fits me to a T... :) but someone in my Autumn group made a "God's Eye" block so I'm covered... :D

Yes, the blocks will be posted...

marytoddliz 10-28-2011 08:34 PM

Quilt Mom, you are so right, I have a wonderful group of quilting buddies, to not only help work out problems with quilting, but nothing like having some gilrs to help work out the problems in life.

Quiltin gran, I am glad you like the Gods eye, when I saw the article in an old quilting book, I thought your fabric was great for that pattern.

If I had realized we were both in the same groups I would have sent them both back at the same time. Or maybe I have already sent them both back LOL... my brain is in deep freeze mode, the weather here is starting to head into winter and it is cold tonight.

quiltin'gran 10-28-2011 11:28 PM

Know what you mean about the brain in deep freeze mode...
we're getting into the cooler weather up here...don't think I'll be zippin' down your way until the Road to CA comes...

deltadawn 10-29-2011 05:46 AM

Hi All ,

All squishies from me are now winging their way to you all.

deltadawn 10-29-2011 08:26 AM

Squishie received from oma7 . :)

oma7 10-29-2011 09:52 AM

Wow, that takes longer than I thought!! I recieved a grown up block from KathyN today. I'll post pic soon. Still waiting for 2 more F8. Hopefully soon they'll get here!

marytoddliz 10-29-2011 10:43 AM

I am really looking forward to that show. It will be the first time for me. I went to Quilt show in Long beach and that was how I met the ladies in my quilt group. Four of us met on the bus that left from the local Quilt shop and have become fast friends! I love the world of quilters. We will have to plan on meeting at the road show in jan. I might take a few classes, I keep looking at the selection and am really amazed how fast they fill up.
