Oh, by the way did I mention that I am actually an employee of the Post Office :o So I think it is pretty embarrassing that some don't know the rules correctly. I process mail images in a huge warehouse with hundreds of others. All mail is scanned by machines and read my computers. If the computers can read the address the mail goes on its happy way. If it cannot be read due to bad handwriting, missing info, or strange computer fonts etc...., the mail image in scanned and sent via the internet to either my center or one in Kansas. Than a PO encoder (ie a real human being) has to decipher the info and hopefully get the mail on its way. Thousands of workers are processing mail 24 hours a day7 days a week in this fashion between the two centers in the country; each looking at over 1000 letters each hour. I work 4 nights a week 6-midnight or 5-1:30 am while my kids are hopefully sound asleep.

I did not know these things. That is nice to know. My father worked for the Post Office for almost 30 years. You would think I would know these things. He has been medically retired since 2000 though so I am sure things have changed a lot since then. I will make better care to write neater or print out labels so that the machine can read it. Two envelopes arrived safely today: Donna (dahna42) and Mary (ok Darla).
I also got an afternoon alone so I quilted. I my first two blocks: Sherry's (ssnare) and Dotty's (dotcomdtcm). Sherry your music fabric for your son was very colorful and fun. I didn't want to cut it up into tiny pieces because I felt the images of the musician and piano would be lost, so I looked for a pattern where the blocks would be large. I was also looking for one that had a modern and masculine feel. Hopefully you like my results. Dotty, I remembered that you were donating your quilt for project Linus (hopefully right?). So I was looking for a youthful pattern that would appeal to a child, hence the pinwheel. Your fabric had several colors that I could have chosen, but I went with the lesser two colors, green and yellow, because I liked the way they complemented the pink and purple tones (and because they were more gender neutral). Hope you like the block. I will mail these blocks later next week, once I have a handful of envelopes to go out. I looked over my list I have not received from: areinn, lv2sew2011, Mosher92, saraaev, nexxus, oldcatlady and Angel B (last three were extra swaps not Pearls). So if you have mailed already and you're on that list, last hope that they will still make it here safely.
I have finished 6 so far: cuppy, dahna42, dotcomdtcm, jahaper, ljdugas31, ssnare. I just created a picture album under my profile page, not sure how to add a link at the bottom of my posts like others have, and added pictures of those blocks completed. Just an fyi though, I haven't cleaned up strings or squared off all of the blocks yet. I still have extra fabric of mine, if anyone is interested in an extra swap let me know. I have finished 9, yes 9! I have pictures in my album: cuppy, dahna42, dotcomdtcm, goldendog55 (1 let me know if you did want to do extra swap Judy and I will do a 2nd), jahaper, ljdugas31 (1 will still make a second for extra swap), okdarla, ssnare and yayquilts.
I have not received fabric from: areinn (yet I have heard from you and can't wait to get yours), Lv2sew2011 (I understand that you will be sending them out soon), Mosher92, and saraaev. I have also received back one finished block from marytoddliz! THanks a lot. question though, do we need to send back unused fabric, Marybeth did to me I appreciate you doing so, but it was my understanding that we kept the extra fabric. I haven't mailed back my finished blocks yet and don't want to upset anyone if I do this incorrectly. Thanks Christina |
I might have done it because I though you were one who wanted it back. I usually only send it back if they ask for it!
But I get confused real easy :shock: and someone might be expecting theirs back... Oooops~ If you wanted your fabric back and I did not send it with your block let me know and I will send it on... But it also might have been someone from the Diamond group, I don't keep my groups separate. I just use the First in First out method, Unless I need to buy something and usually then I let the person know there might be a short delay getting their block back. Only activity in here is I received F8 from Mosher, I sent back a grown up block to Dotcomdtcm on the 28th. Have a wonderful holiday weekend ladies, we are going to have a small yard sale! The Entire Town does it! Well most, my husband is going to sell his stuff, he asked me ifI wanted to sell any fabric! I am still laughing about that one! |
