I told him we have until June so he'll have to be patient with me getting ours done too.

We are missing 4 f8:
grilscouts1
lovngrandma
mosher92
tracibug ( I saw you were mailing yours )

Does anyone have any updates on the other 3?

jaba 03-03-2013 07:36 PM

I'm missing the same ones Moonwork, hopefully they get them in the mail. I'll beg or something......Please Please ladies they should be in the mail by now, please mail them out. Thank you am looking forward to getting them.

I hope that is mine you are talking about. If you are talking about the block with the tiny border, its called a five patch star. It is made to be 10 inches, therefore I added the two borders.

moonwork42029 03-03-2013 08:37 PM

I went back in the posts and see where Mosher92 posted she has hers ready to mail and will be doing so shortly. I know Tracibug also posted she has mailed hers now.

I don't see any messages from Mosher92 or Lovngrandma regarding their f8 so I did send an PM to them asking for a status up date so we'll know what's going on. Sure hope all is okay with them and theirs ... makes me wonder if they are having a difficult time and just need some understanding from us.

moonwork42029 03-03-2013 08:40 PM

Jaydee... you'll get a giggle from this ...

Dad -- Got a lot of good blocks in ... best get yours going
Me -- Dad we've got until June 1 to get them done besides I don't see you doing any
Dad -- That's what I got you for
Me -- What if I kick off ...who is going to do the blocks then
Dad -- I'll just call that lady in Texas and have her come up and do them, cackle cackle cackle
Me -- Oh thanks, now I see how easy I can be replaced
Dad -- more cackle cackle cackle

Yeah... thanks for the update. I mis-read it and thought it meant your mailbox was stuffed with incoming mail from others.

Heard Kansas got dumped on by the snow machine and glad to hear you guys are making it. We went around 18 days without power during our ice storm a few years ago and it's no picnic.

Thanks for the update too girlscouts1. Was worried since I know you have been in them with me before. Glad y'all are okie dokie too.

That means everyone's f8 should be in the mail in the next few days ... yeah that will be super!

I did have a laugh...I think your Dad must be a joy. Mom was somewhat depressed the last year of her life and not as much fun, but I do have fantastic memories and really wish I had her back, so enjoy and cherish every day that you have him... Oh, and I did tell him I was going to be in Paducah for quilt show, so let him know I could just make a side visit and make those blocks.

jaydee3 03-03-2013 10:41 PM

By the way, Moonwork, did you know there is a Possum Trot, Tx? It is a tiny unincorporated community that has adopted over 70 foster children. Some of them the worst abuse cases. They have performed miracles with these children and are still at it.

joanelizbay 03-04-2013 06:02 AM

Jaydee, yep thats it. Very pretty block and the tiny border really sets it off! Great job! Moon...I just love the posts about your dad! So lucky to have him still with you. I was 34 when my dad died and 42 when mom died. Ours was like a yours mine and ours family..I have neices and nephews older than I am..my twin brother and I were born when mom was 40....My kids are 16 years apart so I have a granddaughter just 3 years younger than my own son. Enjoy each and every minute with him! And give him a hug for me and I can dream its MY dad! :)

How cool is that? We're too small to have a post office but we do have "official" city name signs (provided by the state even) to proclaim you're in Possum Trot.

Anyone that is going to the Paducah Quilt show, let me know because I am only about 15 minutes from there. I will be helping our LQS (at her shop - Odds & Ends in Benton, KY) most likely as she stays open until 11pm during the show and we have a blast. We play strip bingo, show and tell and just enjoy visiting with everyone.

Just checked my list. Got it!

jaydee3 03-04-2013 07:18 AM

I might have to make a quick trip to Benton one eveniing. PM me you cell number and I will contact you.

joanelizbay 03-04-2013 11:24 AM

I was just sitting here thinking, If everyone has mailed their F8's to me WHAT am I going to do for 3 months until the next boom starts?? Maybe I need to re-think making them as I get them so I can have something to do!! LOL...This has been the smoothest swap so far! Thanks everyone

jaba 03-04-2013 11:33 AM

Yes it has gone smoothly and I'm loving it! This way I can get the quilt designs picked out, sewn together and quilted. They will be totally done before the next Boom instead of being a UFO. See joanlizbay there is an upside to all this.

joanelizbay 03-04-2013 01:00 PM

I guess you are right Jaba because I now have 4 finished boom quilts just waiting to go to the quilters instead of blocks laying everywhere! That is an up side but I sure miss my mailman! :)

jaydee3 03-04-2013 01:30 PM

I am so excited about this swap and sorry that I didnt find it a few booms ago. I will definately join next time. It will be fun to have the quilt finished before the next one starts.

Country1 03-04-2013 02:00 PM

Re'd a grown up block from Irish Rose 48 today. It's a beauty!... LOVE it.
Country1

quiltingmommy 03-04-2013 02:03 PM

Okay need help from you in this group. I think that I am pretty organized about this swap. When an envelope comes in I number it, open it and check what type of fabric is inside. Then I log the numbered envelope in a notebook with this info: name, fabric description and any special requests (all incase fabric or notes get seperated). When I get to an envelope I make the block and tag it with the return address from your envelopes until I can get it mailed. Then I photograph and log the picture with names attached so that I have a visual image of what goes where as well. So far my process has worked well, or so I thought.

I got a message from TwinRiverFarm that I mailed her the wrong block. I have checked back at all my notes and everything fits as being hers...so I need your help in figuring out where this one goes. I have marked that a black fabric with red dots went to Miriam at TwinRiverFarm with no special requests. Does anyone have a black fabric with red dots in their to-do pile? Who does it belong to? It's all odd, becuase I have finished all most all of the F8's that I have received and don't have any unnaccounted fabrics the description that was hers.....Perplexed

joanelizbay 03-04-2013 02:52 PM

Moonwork is the only one that I have received that is red/black. Can you post a picture of the fabric or the block or can TwinRIvers? We all make mistakes! I sent the wrong block to someone but they have been nice enough to forward it on to the right person!! Good Luck

Catching up from last week! DH took a couple of days off work, plus the weekend, for his birthday. We've been remodeling the kitchen, so I haven't been online much. I'll be glad when the kitchen's finished. It looks like an explosion happened in there! ;)

Received F8's from: jaydee3 and dottiedodge.

Awaiting F8's from: girlscouts1, lovngrandma, Mosher92, Tracibug

Received two gorgeous blocks from jaydee3 and phannie1. Love them both!

Thanks for the note, Anna! :) Both DH and I have lived in this area our entire lives. We didn't have any direct damage from the tornado. It really tore Ringgold up, though. We live about 3 miles from where it first touched down. We were lucky. I was on the phone with DH when it went over, and was looking out the front door. There was some CRAZY lightning and thunder going on, so I quickly moved into the hall. Even the air had an eerie, foreboding feel to it. I logged onto Facebook a few minutes after the crazy lightning stopped, and people were posting that downtown Ringgold was devastated from a tornado. It was almost dark when the tornado went through, but the photos started coming in early the next morning. The damage was unbelievable. Eight people were killed. It's a miracle there weren't more fatalities than there were, though. Here's a video someone made of the tornado passing over: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zZSCo4PW0yk I saved all the pictures people posted on Facebook. I'll put them on a blog at some point.

moonrise 03-04-2013 04:48 PM

I just uploaded the tornado photos, along with some videos I found on YouTube, to my blog at http://ringgoldtornado.blogspot.com/

I received f8s from dottie_dodge and jaydee3. I received blocks from (in order) jaydee3, country1, and RoseIrish48.

urgodschild2 03-04-2013 05:46 PM

Well I am like quiltingmommy. I have to be organized as I am in all 5 groups and I do not want to lose one piece of fabric. I figure if I screw up and send off a block to the wrong person that everyone is so nice that they will tell me and we can figure out who it should go to. Fortunately, I have not had that happen. I have posted the wrong grown up blocks in the wrong groups on here but I guess that is ok too. I am now up to 44/90 and I think that is doing pretty good.
Today I got F8 from quiltingmommy and Tracibug. Cute stuff.

alikat110 03-04-2013 05:46 PM

Lovngrandma...got your f8....

travelinggramma 03-04-2013 06:16 PM

Have finally gotten the adult blocks in wrap, note wrapped, envelopes all addressed and double taped. Did however forget my name label inside the wrap - but note says who i am and also on envelope.
Tomorrow the following will go out:
Abbys Mom, Elisabrat, Gaijin, jaydee3, Lestrong601, moonwork42029,OKDarla, Roseisrish and urgodschild.

Have worked on my curves, and the dreaded "scant" 1/4". I still don't get it. When I learned to sew it was always 5/8". Then wen I went into quilting it was 1/4". now it is a scant 1/4"/ WHY??? I want my quilts to hold up and if you don't do alot of top quilting then the seams will loosen easier.
Just needed to vent - but would really like to know why it is so little allowance.

jaba 03-04-2013 06:41 PM

Got a F8 from tracibug today for this group, still need from ninakk, additional swap, girlscouts1, lovinggrandma and mosher92.

I work in a Building Inspections Department and my boss had went up to Ringgold and determind if homes could be rebuild or beyond repair. He brought home pictures that was awfull and amazing at the same time. I still say a pray as I drive by on the interstate going to Chattanooga. I will try to let you know I am coming my next trip. We can meet at the Sew-Be-It. Phannie

Sorry I couldn't help track it down either.

lovngrandma 03-04-2013 09:32 PM

great thanks have fun with it

TwinRiverFarm 03-05-2013 04:44 AM

Thanks, Moonwork, that is definitely my fabric. I have no doubt that Quiltingmommy is too organized to be making a mistake (her system is foolproof!) so I must have had a mind-melting day somewhere. But honestly, I don't recognize the black/spots fabric! Does this mean my stash is finally in control and I am just a pawn in it's hands? I must defend myself from it and hide the scissors. Now where did that rotary cutter go....

I could swear I say that fabric when I was lurking in one of the other Booms. Are you in more than one Boom?

ArizonaKAT 03-05-2013 06:59 AM

I sent adults out in two different mailings so far. The first mailing was quite some time ago. I got acknowledgement from Joanelizbay and travelinggrandma but still waiting on RoseIrish. Rose if you don't have your adult, please pm me and let me know. I'll check to see if I have enough material to make another one.

The second mailing went out Monday a week ago. There were 11 adults. I got confirmation from OldCatLady, moonrise and moonwork42049. The other 8 are missing in action. If you received an adult and your name isn't here, please let me know you have it. If you already posted and I missed it, I'm sorry :-(

The kids walk the adults to the mailbox as I finish them now so they will be coming in dribbles. Good exercise here in the desert.
