So sorry, guess I read it wrong, in to be of a hurry trying to post.

goldendog55 01-14-2011 01:09 PM

I sent out all of my f8's today to everyone else today. I've just got 3 pieces to go to people that are in both swaps.

I went to the post office today, and found out that it is less expensive to send out a flat large envelope, than putting it into a legal envelope, which is fat or lumpy.

I had been wondering about that myself. So how much does that cost? Do you know if you can buy those envelopes in bulk?

JudyG 01-14-2011 02:13 PM

I just got back from the post office. I had purchased 6x9 manila envelopes without the clasp thinking I would get by with .61 postage. They said that since they were "lumpy" (the seams), I had to pay extra for hand canceling because they wouldn't go through the machines. I thought it interesting that they didn't mark them to be "hand canceled."

Obsessed 01-14-2011 02:17 PM

Hello Besties!

Shaysmema - so glad to hear that your husband is home and doing better!

I received F8s today from Chigger Holler Quilter and OK Darla. Lovely! Ideas are churning...

goldendog55 01-14-2011 02:31 PM

You can buy those envelopes in bulk. I am going to use the big ones, as it will be cheaper to buy them than to pay for lumpy envelopes. He also told me that the flat rate envelopes have to be flat, too. Otherwise, you have to put them into the box!

Grown-up blocks went home to PokerDiva, twospoiledhuskies, fryguymoore, janecat, Oatw13. You can preview them on my blog. If you want to be surprised, don't! Someday, I'll have all 70 blocks posted there!

JudyG 01-14-2011 02:51 PM

Ok Darla 01-14-2011 03:03 PM

You guys are scaring me. I have been mailing my completed blocks in legal envelopes with one reg stamp. None have come back and I know a least one has made it to where it was suppose to go but now I am afraid to keep doing that. If anyone gets a block from me with postage due, please let me know and I will send you a stamp or something.

I sent a completed block out today in the legal size envelope. My postmistress said it was just fine! and with regular stamp...:) Hope it makes it home okay!

Chigger Holler Quilter 01-14-2011 03:53 PM

I found two F8's today in mail box! :) they are from Lillie and buddy's mom!
Lillie I got 2 f8s from you today...I don't know which belongs with which group, but I love them both. Great choices!
Buddy's Mom...I love 30's fabs...it'll be fun working this! :)

Jennifer22206 01-14-2011 04:13 PM

I got 2 F8's today, one from OK Darla and the other from Lillie.

I also got a grown up block from JaneCat. Just need to take a picture of that one.

Jennifer22206 01-14-2011 04:14 PM

Can I ask what 30's fabrics are? I called my not so LQS and they said "any small print" but that doesn't seem right to me.

pattis47 01-14-2011 04:15 PM

Happy to hear he is doing a little better.

They are fabrics that resemble the 30's era. A great website for refernce is this one:

I think it depends on the person at the post office. I didn't have any stamps so took them in to see what they would cost. Should have just bought stamps and put them on. Bet they wouldn't have come back.

Is feedsack the same as 30s? Or is 30's pastel colors?

Sorry to be a pain! I'm excited because I know I don't have any 30's in my stash and that means *shopping*!!

pattis47 01-14-2011 04:53 PM

I folded min and put them in the small envelope. as long as it is under 1/4" thick it goes first class for 1 stamp. That is what the lady at the counter told me when I took mine in to be checked, however because the completed block will weigh more than 1 ounce it requires the 64 cent stamp.
and to Canada it cost 75cents for the F8 and the finished block.

Hand canceled just means the clerk puts a ink stamp over your stamp.

It has been my experience that whether you pay more or not means NOTHING to the wokers. Most of the squishes I received where the person paid extra so it wouldn't go through the machine went through anyway.

I love all my squishes even if they arrive postage due or in a body bag ;)

Jennifer22206 01-14-2011 06:16 PM

I figured it out. :) And I'm about to hit confirm on an order I placed! :D

Carsey 01-14-2011 06:20 PM

OK. 28 of my F8’s seem to have gotten to their new home. There seems to be several names that I don’t know if my blocks got to them. The names are: bookworm, Diecy, goldendog55, jaciqltznok, Main Ladybug, MegsAnn, and OK Darla. Could you please post when you receive them so I can mark them off or send you more fabric??? Thanks!!!!!
