Yesterday I received two blocks. One from joanelizbay and one from sunrise450. They are both wonderful! Sunrise's is the first one I've gotten with red which I planned on adding myself if one didn't come with it and joan's has a wonderful print that goes perfectly with my fabric. Thank you both very much. Pix can be seen in my album.

Okay everyone I need some help! I am new to quilting, and my machine is good for piecing, but I cannot to any machine quilting on it because the feed dogs do not drop. My birthday is coming up and I want to get a new machine that I can do more with and has more options. What do you guys reccommend around the $300 range? The Quantum 9960 was recommended to me at a cost of 369.00 but I found it on Amazon for 231.00. I watched a video about it and it seemed like a good machine, but since you guys have more experience I wanted to know what your thoughts were. All help and comments welcome!!!

Janice McC 07-31-2013 10:49 AM

I just love the Winnie the Pooh fabric. Tigger was my all time favorite Disney character! Great blocks!

Wish I could help but my machine is ancient and may need replacing soon so I look forward to the answers you get.

I have a Janome 6500, about 10 yrs old, and I free motion quilt without dropping the feed dogs. It calls for dropping them but it works many times better not to drop it. You might want to try it on your machine.

If you still want the feed dogs out of the way you can tape an old credit card over it or for some machines you can buy a small plastic cover you snap in place or it comes with the machine, like Janome Jem silver 3/4 machine.

Finally!!! Pictures!!!

Well, after dozens and dozens of attempts, I finally figured out how to post pictures thanks to continued research and then this post: http://www.quiltingboard.com/qb-help...d-t208411.html. I'd been using the "quick reply" option that simply didn't work for me and my laptop. In any case, if you see photos below, I've finally figured it out. (Hope it helps someone else!)

Here are the first 3 blocks I rec'd. Libster made the Antique Tile, ljdugas made the Arrowhead Puzzle and Marytoddliz made the Card Trick. Thank you very much ladies! More pix to come and I've got to figure out how to insert text between them.

jaba 07-31-2013 05:02 PM

If you want text between them, after you upload your pic just keep typing. When you're done hit enter on your computer and it will go to the next line, post pic...type what you want, hit enter etc.

Here are a few more blocks (in order) from Brat, Catgirl, awilson and two from Jaba. The colors are not as nice in the pix as they are in person. They are really wonderful. Thank you all for your efforts. I'm so pleased with them!

jaba 07-31-2013 05:05 PM

Forgot to add, nothing in the mail today. awilson you won't be sorry with a quantum they are reliable machines. I still haven't gotten your fabric.

jclinganrey 07-31-2013 05:06 PM

Another option is to COVER your feed dogs with something like template plastic or cardstock - - - -

Janice McC 07-31-2013 05:11 PM

Hi Jaba, if you look at your posts with pix and mine, they look different. Due to the way I have to upload them, I haven't been able to put text in, add a pic and then follow it with text. I must add pix as attachments. I cannot click the pic icon and upload directly into the message. Pix, for me, have to be done as attachments. It's really irritating but sooner or later, I'll figure out a way to make it work. Apparently, it may work differently if I use a different web browser like FireFox/Mozilla instead of IE. In the meantime, I'm thrilled to be able to upload them at all!

Gosh darn, it works correctly in Mozilla/Firefox! Hurrah! From now on I'll use it instead of IE to come to the board.
These are from Jaba!

Elisabrat 07-31-2013 06:05 PM

like my brother csi6000 from walmart. not a fancy machine at all cheap though and well you see my blocks you decide. Themamahauser also has this as a back up and likes it fine too.

jaba 07-31-2013 07:33 PM

Janice McC glad it works for you, had a tech tell me to literally get over IE, he said that it was so unstable. Now that I've changed I can really tell the difference, love Google Chrome. Very smooth and quick for the net and no "freezes".
Glad you got the blocks, hope they will work in your planned quilt.

Elisabrat 08-01-2013 01:50 AM

ok MORNING~ no new blocks yesterday but I came up with such alternate FUN for those who are finished you wont believe it! I started a new table runner swap for fall! so come one come all sign on up for FALL FUN! We had some absolute beautiful runners made in the summer swap and this time should be no exception. Your all talented quilters and block makers surely one runner fits in your schedule? (SHAMELESS PLUG brought to you by le brat)

sunrise450 08-01-2013 05:46 AM

Awilson, I received your block yesterday. I love it and thank you so much! I have heard that I can post a picture with my ipad, that is what I will try next. This is really frustrating not being able to post pictures.
Thank you thank you!
By the way, could you let me know what the name of the block you sent is?

createfourpaws 08-01-2013 06:26 AM

I received a block last night and for the life of me I can't remember today who it was from. I will look tonight and post pictures of the ones I have received.

sunrise450 08-01-2013 07:00 AM

I tried *again* to post a picture, failure failure. I did manage to set up a maia file to post pictures to. Got the file and still can't upload a picture. Am so frustrated I'm near tears. Think I will eat breakfast and then go downstairs and sew a block. :(

I am going to be working on these I promise. I just ran into my other row robin swap, got three rows at once so working on those because they have a deadline of today. They got put first. Not what I planned, but has to be done. I have these and all my fabric store out and all over the place. Hope I will be able to get my garage shopping done and lined up with some blocks so I can get these done. I was working on some blocks for the row robin, had to throw those in the orphan block pile because was not on track. Over it though so onward ho. i still have a couple of you I need to get fabric to and will, just hold your horses please, the fabric needs to come from a quilt that is not quilted yet. Working hard.
