I was wondering where you'd been Jupiter. I was just thinking about you a couple of days ago.
I've missed this group! But I still don't have my Boom5 blocks sewn together yet. My Boom 3 quilt is a lovely king size and on my bed! I love it. I got a long arm machine and am learning to use it. That is where a lot of my time is going right now. I questioned myself doing another Boomerang but hey, I've got to keep making quilt tops to quilt on, right? hugs, Marilyn aka Jupiter |
HI April,
I sure hope yesterday wasn't anything too awful. Praying for good health for you... hugs, Marilyn |
Jupiter, which Long arm did you get? I have been looking and dreaming, so far we have not found the right one to fit our budget, but we are still looking. I have been checking out the used ones, Right now I do FMQ or good old SID.

Ok! I'm ready!! I have my f8's cut and folded! Just need to wrap them up and address the envelopes!! (I know, I'm early, since sign-ups are open for another whole week!)
|
Did you get me on the list? I signed up yesterday? Hope you are feeling good today.

I got a good deal on a Pfaff Grand Quilter 18.8 with a Grace Imperial 10' frame. Got it from sewingmachinesplus.com for about $6,000 with financing 0% for 48 months! Couldn't say no to that.
I am liking my machine. I named her "Ms Joy Pfaff"... lol A lot to learn about stitch tension, but getting a lot of knowledge from a set of DVD's I bought, also from videos on YouTube. This machine has a very nice stitch, its not really loud, and I keep the same thread in the bobbin that I have in the top so I am not having any trouble keeping the tension right how it needs to be! Then I found a Yahoo Group that has only members by invitation only, who have the exact same machine. There are about 150 ladies there, and they really do answer a lot of questions that come up for the "new-bee" me. OK... I promise that was not a paid advertisement. I just like what I got! hugs, Jupiter aka Marilyn

PS It cost more to mail my squishies to Canada, England and Australia--I took those to the Post Office counter (around $1.50-$2 each). |
How do I get signed up for the block swaps?

I sure hope i do this fast because I keep thinking about changing to a different fabric! I hope to get My boom 6 done this month, My New Years Resolution finish one Quilt a month,,,I quilted 3 of my own so far but didnt get My january and February ones done yet..Maybe I can catch up in March!

I keep changing my mind on what fabric to use. I guess I will have to decide soon won't I? I also use white letter size envelopes with the block wrapped in saran wrap. Works just fine.

Looking foward to doing this. Learned alot from last time. Lookinf foward to fun!
|
Thank for posting the info on what works best for sending these :)
|
I went fabric shopping today. Not only did I get the fabric for the swap, but 4 other cuts jumped into my stack and demanded to go home with me... Imagiane that! (thats my story and I'm sticking to it!) lol
I got a really nice strips, but its not boring stripes. they have texture in the stripes and between the stripes is a flowery vine. Has lots of potential I think. Can hardly wait to send it out to you. hugs, Jupiter |
I cant stand that, I have Fabric that does that to me all the time...and they refuse to get off my pile..Then after that I feel sorry for it because it must really need a good home. I cant say no at that point..I am sure the stripes are very happy now.
|
Yes, the stripes are giggling.... The other 4 are lining up to make a queen sized quilt for a friend who just retired and had a house built in Hawaii. We get to go for a visit this summer, so thought a quilt would make an appropriate gift to bring along (then think of the empty suitcase that will be needing to fill up with delightful things Hawiian for the trip home!)
hugs, Jupiter
