How exciting for you!

I wouldn't mind teaching a few young people in my area to sew and quilt,
but I am afraid that my basic sewing does include clothing as I am self-taught
and everything I know about quilting I learned from watching tv (Alex Anderson)
or on the internet.

Not to mention young people in my area just don't seem to have an interest
in learning something fun like quilting. I know this because I took out an ad in
a local Middle & High School papers, plus posted message on bulletin boards
at many local places like the grocery store, rec center, etc.

Good luck and hope you will post some of your students completed projects
(with their permission of course).

Thanks for the invite reminder......Sign me up for 2 ornaments.
I've been alittle busy this past couple months as to why I haven't been on much. I started teaching FCS at an area public school. I am teaching FCS to 7th-12th grade after the retirement of a 33 year Home Ec/FCS teacher. Hired the week before school, so I have been working on Lessons plans/Modules and units for my classes. And I know some my ask if I am adding quilting to my curriculum, YOU BETCHA!!! and my students are excited. Yeh me!!

I have also included a week or so to homemade items for gift giving - so you can bet Christmas ornaments will also me included in this section.

Just to excited..................

I'm really going to miss this swap this year. I'll be watching though. I have to have some extensive back surgery done and it is iffy on the recovery time so I just can't commit to this right now. Don't know how much sewing I will be able to do and the wood shop will be totally out of the question. I will be checking and seeing all the wonderful items you all are making.

Jaba,
Hope your surgery goes smoothly, and that your recovery is quick! Sometimes we just have to stop and take a break to make sure we can keep on keeping on...
Regards,
Kif

Thanks kiffie, they will do X-rays this Friday and possibly another MRI, then I will know surgery date for sure. I've put this off for a very long time and now my time is up. It's the recovery part I hate the most, like everyone else.

I've just sent in my PM, This is my first year. I have a few made up already. Every year the grandkids get a new homemade ornament. This started with my mother and mother-in-law. When the kids moved out my tree looked very bare. I really don't care much for factory manufactured ornaments.

I'm in again. Loved this swap last year and already have some ideas, now to get to the store. Sending PM now.

Thanks Linda, appreciate your thoughts more than you know. I'm not looking forward to this at all, but it's a have to sort of thing.
