nhnative Hi there, I sent a pm but don't think its working. So can you try pm me and tell me which you prefer christmas or winter? Me it doesn't matter. I love christmas (no crosses) but everything else. I love Santa, reindeers, ornaments, trees, sleds everything to go with christmas. Winter i love snowflakes, snowmen etc.....
Just contacted my partner. Waiting to hear from her now.
Judith, have you announced the themes for 2016 Fabric Post Cards? Will you let us know soon. Thank you.
Hi Cuppy, I have not announced the themes for 2016 yet. I do have one picked out for January though. Since January is about new beginnings, a New Year and all, I'd thought we'd try our hand with "Rainbows". It does not have to be traditional, It can be whatever you want. I already have so many ideas. lol, (I need to stay focused on this month. :D) I always associate Rainbows with hopes and dreams the start of new beginnigs. So, next month is all about Rainbows.

Wonderful!

December Postcard Swap
Hello Stashmaker!
Glad to hear from you. I am looking forward to the swap, too. This is all new to me, so bear with me. I am fine with either winter theme or a Christmas theme for the post card. Should we both make whatever strikes our fancy when we are in the "designing mood" and see where it takes us? That way it would be a surprise for both of us. My address is: Debbie Wallace 1615 CharlotteOak Dr. Fairmont MN 56031 Don't let the fancy address fool you. I live in the country. Sew on...... Deb.

FABRIC POSTCARD SWAP
Come join us in trading Fabric Postcards. *Making postcards is not an exact science. There are a lot of great tutorials on the net. Postcards are a very forgiving project as they are not something you would wash over and over.* Be creative, inventive, try out new skills, embellishments, have fun. It's a wonderful mini project. We will have a general theme each month. Please mail your fabric postcards by the 20th of each month. (This is a hard deadline!) *NOTE* New Rule* you must post on the thread a minimum of 3 times. Once at the beginning (say hello greet your partner), once in the middle (how are you coming along) and once at the end (on the 20th confirmation of having mailed). And as always, I need to hear and so does your partner when you receive. This is not a new rule just a reminder. *** Theme, Winter. (No Christmas please unless you have cleared it with your partner.) ex. Snowflakes, Skates, Snowmen, etc.*** Please PM me with thefollowing: •QB screen name •Real name •Address/city/state/zip •Are you willing to mail internationally? This is not meant to be a Secret Pal kind of swap. Once I have everyone partnered up, I will post the QB names on the thread then will send along the above information by PM to the respective swappers. Some required details: •Postcards must be 4” x 6” •They must have a finished edge. •Your postcard needs to be sewn (be it a little or a lot) with at least either pieced or appliqued, embroidery, etc. plus whatever you want to add. *If you add a lot of embellishment, you may need to enclose your handmade postcard in a clear mailing envelope (available at the big box stores and online) in order for the USPS to handle it/mail it and so your postcard doesn’t get caught in their equipment. •Your postcard must have adequate postage. Do not send something that will require the recipient to have to pay postage due. •Please let me and your postcard recipient know that you have RECEIVED your postcard. •Most of all, have fun! Please, we want this swap to be fun. Just as a reminder, it is up to you to make sure your partner receives your postcard. Use an envelope if in doubt. Make sure your return address is on there. If you have not fulfilled you obligation you will not be allowed to join the swap the following month. If you do not fulfill your obligation, you will leave me no choice but to leave negative feedback. |
Just a little tease I am.......but.......is that an orange index card cut in half and taped closed??? Why???
My post cards are done for this month but I'd appreciate some advice on edging. My machine does not love sewing on
card stock. I've been rubbing some Mod Podge on the stitching. Looks ok. Ideas?? |
I don't use cardstock. I use muslin for the back (message area), Timex (heavy stabilizer), & whatever I've sewn for the front of the postcard. So each layer is fabric.
For those who do use card stock, the index cards can be bought in that exact size. You might need to put two together, but they are cheap. There are so many ways a person can do them I guess. They are such fun!
I use index cards, add a clean one on the back. Several layers of fabric.
Great ideas ladies. See, no wrong ways with postcards. Do whatever way works out best for you. Dotty if your sewing machine is having a hard time with a zig zag edge, try using a straight stich to finish off your cards. See how you like it.
dfelker we can swap post cardds if you want. I don't mind and would love to do it. Let me know.
Dotty, I do a zig zag, will your machine do that, if not a straight stitch
I've got artist block. Can't think of what to do this month. The winter snow is peaceful. There's hope in new beginnings and the new year is certainly a new beginning. I've given up resolutions; failure is too final. But I do like goals: got a whole year to keep trying.
Just rambling thoughts. |
Dotty, I use the Timtex and muslin too. I increase my stitch width and shorten my stitch length resulting in a tight zig zag. I'm learning too, the Timtex is costly I wait for a sale or use a coupon from JA. The Timtex has an adhesive activated by steam or the moisture from spray starch. calla
Petthefabrics ......thanks for my time for reflection........I'm sure your inspiration will come....... |
After finishing a couple of these other swaps, and finishing my daughter in law a set of coasters I can now work on my post card. :)
I also am still crocheting scarfs for the great nieces. 6 of them. I am on scarf number 4 now. Have the front side of a mug rug finished for my dad's main nurse who is so good to him. I think I have everything under control now. lol... I have to get some cards sent out, but had to wait until things calmed down. My sister 4 years younger than me is in the Oak Ridge Hospital with a blood clot in her heart, and more in her feet and toes. When she goes home someone will have to be brought in to stay with her. She is in bad condition. I didn't know a person could get blood clots in their feet and toes. I can't wait to work on my post card now. :) |
my partner PMd me that she has received her PC.
Hi Dee, I mailed out your postcard this morning.
I would like to share with you the Winter Postcard that dotcomdtcm sent me as a Thank You. Dotty, thank you again. I love the effect you got with the beads and the tree. The colors give the tree such depth. And the woodland animals are just darling. I love it.

Just a little update for those of you who know Elisabrat. I got a nice little Thank you note for the postcards that I have been sending her. She is now out of the Hospital and Rehab and is at home still trying to gain her strength back. And can still use some encouraging words or a card if you have the time.
I have been wondering about her, thanks for the update...........calla
