December Postcard Swap

FABRIC POSTCARD SWAP

Come join us in trading Fabric Postcards. *Making postcards is not an exact science. There are a lot of great tutorials on the net. Postcards are a very forgiving project as they are not something you would wash over and over.* Be creative, inventive, try out new skills, embellishments, have fun. It's a wonderful mini project. We will have a general theme each month. Please mail your fabric postcards by the 20th of each month. (This is a hard deadline!)

*NOTE* New Rule* you must post on the thread a minimum of 3 times. Once at the beginning (say hello greet your partner), once in the middle (how are you coming along) and once at the end (on the 20th confirmation of having mailed). And as always, I need to hear and so does your partner when you receive. This is not a new rule just a reminder.

*** Theme, Winter. (No Christmas please unless you have cleared it with your partner.) ex. Snowflakes, Skates, Snowmen, etc.***

Please PM me with thefollowing:
•QB screen name
•Real name
•Address/city/state/zip
•Are you willing to mail internationally?

This is not meant to be a Secret Pal kind of swap. Once I have everyone partnered up, I will post the QB names on the thread then will send along the above information by PM to the respective swappers.

Some required details:
•Postcards must be 4” x 6”
•They must have a finished edge.
•Your postcard needs to be sewn (be it a little or a lot) with at least either pieced or appliqued, embroidery, etc. plus whatever you want to add. *If you add a lot of embellishment, you may need to enclose your handmade postcard in a clear mailing envelope (available at the big box stores and online) in order for the USPS to handle it/mail it and so your postcard doesn’t get caught in their equipment.
•Your postcard must have adequate postage. Do not send something that will require the recipient to have to pay postage due.
•Please let me and your postcard recipient know that you have RECEIVED your postcard.
•Most of all, have fun!

Please, we want this swap to be fun. Just as a reminder, it is up to you to make sure your partner receives your postcard. Use an envelope if in doubt. Make sure your return address is on there. If you have not fulfilled you obligation you will not be allowed to join the swap the following month. If you do not fulfill your obligation, you will leave me no choice but to leave negative feedback.

I want to welcome our new players. I hope you have fun. And, for all you ladies who are continuing to sign up each month with me, I truly appreciate it. You all make this swap GREAT!!

Ladies, just a reminder, Please let me know when you mail and when you receive. This month is shaping up very well. We have started with a nice group of ladies and added in a few new ones so far. This is going to be so much fun.

Another reminder, I only have 1 international player right now. So, I am pairing with the first person who pm's me. I already have a player for BettyJ this month. But, if anyone else can mail international, let me know. If someone else international sign's up I will pair the next person on my list.

JuneBillie 11-24-2015 06:01 PM

Wow! We have a good list going for this month. It will be so much fun.

Thank you Judith for all you do.

Here's a link ladies to some super cute ideas that can be tweaked for our Postcards. Very clever ideas. https://theorganisedhousewife.com.au...isplay%20Ideas

cuppy 11-26-2015 02:50 PM

Have 3 great ideas for winter fabric post cards.

dotcomdtcm 11-27-2015 11:59 AM

What do you do with your pcs? A little big for my tree?

Judith1005 11-27-2015 12:35 PM

Hi Dotty, I have heard several different ideas. Display in wicker or wire Baskets, under a glass top on a coffee table, I have mine now hanging across a window with curtain pinch clips. (Instead of a curtain.) I'm sure others will add ideas as well. I also posted a link in comment #22 a link that has some great ideas for displaying cards.

This swap has been very enjoyable. It helps me think through ideas. No plans yet, but it will come. Please add me to the list.

Judith1005 11-29-2015 05:55 AM

Hello everyone, I will be assigning names late today. I have been working on my postcards today. I have 2 in the works right now. Both Christmas themed. I have picked the one person for my partner that requested Christmas. And, I have a Christmas sideswap with someone else going on. I just need to whip up 2 more Winter postcards. One for my mom and one for another quiltboarder who is still rehabbing/resting at home and unable to join us here on the board. I see her occasionally on Facebook. I think this month is going to really be fun.

If you have changed your mind about wanting Christmas when you get your partner, Please talk it over with them. In a world of political correctness, we cannot make someone do something they are not comfortable with. That's why I set the theme as "Winter". But, I leave it up to yall to make a final decision.

I need to go to Ikea in a little while. I think I will have breakfast there then pick up a few picture frames as a Christmas gift. I love that place! I do more looking then buying. But, I do have quite a few of their furniture pieces. And have a few still on my must have list. They are great for what they are. And, I love the clean lines they have. And, they are very affordable.

Nelco 11-29-2015 10:50 AM

If Ikea wasn't a 2 hr drive I would be in there all the time looking and getting ideas.

Dotty, that's so exciting. I have all my moms beads also. I just love adding them in here and there. "Starry Night", I just can't wait to see how you do with that. I'm sure it's going to be fun. :)

JuneBillie 11-29-2015 07:50 PM

My partner nancia has contacted me, and I have a pm back to her. I look so forward to this month's post card theme. We have such a great group for this month. A busy month too for most of us. :)

Judith you do sound quite busy already with lots of fun ahead for December.

Judith1005 11-29-2015 08:04 PM

Hi JuneBillie, yes, I have been busy. But, am hoping that things are winding down. Important gifts have been bought, mailed and delivered. Just a very minimal shopping is left. I have been babysitting my neighbors dogs this week. They will be home in 2 more days. I have one of my own dogs recovering from surgery. (She is doing very well.) But, I think I may have another sick doggy on my hands and we will be visiting the vet tomorrow. He has just not been himself and the 3 one is my sweet little angel. I'm always watching him. He was very sick last year and we almost lost him.

But, even with all those things going on, Life is good. I so enjoy seeing you all here.

Armylady2012 11-30-2015 09:35 AM

Dotty I received your PM and responded am busy brainstorming on a few different designs I am creating a winter and Christmas theme card.

Hi Dotty, I just use a pigma pen and draw the line in the middle. I write Postcard at the top. And, I always write my swapper a chatty note on the back. And, I address it and make sure to sign it. I usually fit in that it is the "QB Dec. Postcard Swap". I also mail in an envelope. I always have my mail weighed just to make sure I have the correct postage. This is just my personal way of doing it.

I have received others that do it differently. Maybe they will chime in about their way.
