I absolutely DO want to sign up...I also want to make sure I am welcome in the future for swaps..and am not "shown the door" due to not finishing things .
If I don't make it this time, I will have to "skulk" about and see about next time...
Regards all,
Kif

Now Lynnie, that would be awesome! Except I would just have to mail this quilt separate from your table runner/fabrics/thread pkg I am readying..otherwise you would never get any of it!!

Perfect explanation, thank you Brat! This is a sneak peek at what I am working on, if my partner does Christmas I will use the holly and berries. If she prefers something else I will substitute something else in it's place.

ok I am stalling going over and hitting my ufo box so maybe if you would just sign up I would be 'forced' to make a dq this month.. still waiting for the sign up's here so it just well has to happen.. how many are signed up now I wonder? and Kiffie get going all that time you spend sitting on a fence could be making candles out of fabric and tunnels and wings and all sorts of things and noooooo your just sitting there saying oh woe is me.. no time.. get sewing sugarpie and you too will find your finished in not time at all. BUT you have to sign up. maybe you will get me as a partner and then oh oh oh what would you find as your dq? not traditional might be the first clue. or maybe totally traditional..

cheesehead those are my favorite type of candle holders.. so so cute. grand idea with the interchangeable parts on the bottom!

QuiltingKrazy 09-27-2013 03:08 PM

Cheesehead I love it!

QuiltingKrazy 09-27-2013 03:09 PM

So far we have about half as many signed up as compared to last month... SO SIGN UP Y'ALL!

kiffie2413 09-29-2013 01:05 AM

Okay, okay.. I am in. I told myself I was going to get caught up on stuff...but who am I kidding?? I will never be caught up.. Now Brat, I gotta tell you, it's not a "normal" woe is me, I don't have time, yadda, yadda this time.. I have a new grand baby on the way!!! A lil boy, due end of December.. and I have a sweet daughter-in-law who keeps sending me pics of things that "our darling baby-to-be" just needs so much..things his Grammy needs to make him. And my lil granddaughter, only grandchild I have as of now, is also telling Grammy what she just loves and "will you make me one, Grammy??" And, Grammy "my lil baby brother will need one, too..". Lol.. Just can't turn down those eyes.. and those happy hugs I get in return is a big payout! My mom always told me "Just wait til you're a grandma, you'll see..." boy was she right! :D

mooretll 09-29-2013 02:19 AM

I will give this another try.

Elisabrat 09-29-2013 04:57 AM

kiffie my little girl who is 22 sends me pinterest items all the time.. momma when I have a baby you have to make this MOMMMMAA I really need this.. I write her back and say get married first. old fashioned me right? plan your wedding first don't skip over that before you go to need this car seat cover and this baby blanket and these jammies and this.. argh pirates. going to fix her sewing machine she can sew it all herself. the Brat sucks at regular sewing stuff. oh heck no. guess I will be bugging Jaba to learn how. she can teach me if she is patient enough lol.

I think its a going back to school month and panic about Christmas is setting in hence the lower sign ups not the theme quiltingkrazy. HEY all of you thinking about signing up think on this: this could be a gift for the holidays hey hey you get to play and you get something to share afterwards.. hey hey grand idea!

DONT BE CHICKEN sign up already! its a tiny little wall quilt or doll quilt to be correct. You can whip one out in no time and the theme is fun.. bright! cheery! a light in the dark!

cuppy 09-29-2013 05:49 AM

Count me in. October is my birthday month.

paperpieceme 09-29-2013 08:56 AM

you know i have been lurking on the thread.even after i officially called my self out this month. these little dqs are addictive. i just need to hold on till you close signups , one more day.....

Elisabrat 09-29-2013 09:27 AM

ok here is another concept.. the theme is golden glow yeah the total line is of candles but what about a fire? of a sunset? still a golden glow right? and paper pieceme we are waiting for you and thank you Cuppy for joining! yahooooo!

Bilben 09-29-2013 09:45 AM

I am in again, but I am having a harder time trying to come up with ideas. I think I need to stop trying to be creative and just go with a pattern. Brainstorming on the word "candle", I can only come up with ear candling, and that would not be a very nice quilt to make!

paperpieceme 09-29-2013 10:02 AM

i am a glutton for punishment! i woke up this morning and drew out a picture of a cow that i want to put on a quilt. then i came out to see where you ladies were at and a thought perked, and i sat and drew it out. I AM IN. hopefully i can get it done before we leave, i designed a quilt that i can do a lot of hand work on in the car just in case.

kiffie2413 09-29-2013 10:05 AM

n;6320 in again, but I am having a harder time trying to come up with ideas. I think I need to stop trying to be creative and just go with a pattern. Brainstorming on the word "candle", I can only come up with ear candling, and that would not be a very nice quilt to make!
I for one would love to see a quilt based on that!! :D Heck, I am just um, odd..no, weird..no, strange..no, unique..yep, that's it, unique (tho in our family it's pronounced you-knee-cue) enough to be fine getting your "ear candling" quilt in this here swap!

Paperpieceme,
Come on, I gave in to the "dark side", er Brat ;).."Come join us, Paperpieceme, and we'll play forever, and ever, and ever..." .
Sorry, had a lil "The Shining" moment there..just read an excerpt from the sequel that Stephen King finally wrote..
Kif

kiffie2413 09-29-2013 10:15 AM

Yay, Paperpieceme! I would like to think it was my "Shining moment" that reeled you right on in...But since it came after your post, well.... Hey, I just thought of something, Shining..like a light, or candle...yep, I totally got it on my last post, too..yeppers, sure did...uh-huh!!
K

Elisabrat 09-29-2013 02:08 PM

OK WAKE UP AND CHECK THIS OUT! do a google search for "candle images clip art" you will have more candles than you could ever dream of and if you print it out.. well you can cut for templates. not hard at all :) NOW you have to sign up truly you do.

emc1118 09-29-2013 06:43 PM

Sent a PM. Will start thinking of a plan...

kwiltkrazy 09-29-2013 08:55 PM

Welcome emc. I love this theme, I was obcessed with drawing candles when I was a teenager.

kiffie2413 09-30-2013 01:51 AM

I am so excited... I was looking thru all of my quilting/crafting books for a pattern for a friend and I "happened" upon an idea for this quilt swap. Showed it to hubby (who was as excited as I was! OK, not really..lol). I have parts of it drawn out and am going to start cutting out pieces tomorrow, er later today. Lastly, I want a certain fabric for part of it..unfortunately (teehee) I didn't have the batik I was wanting, so I HAD to buy new..and iI couldn't just buy one, so...I know my fellow quilters understand.
Take care all,
Kif
And, thanks Brat for the extra nudging to sign up...:)

quiltymom 09-30-2013 05:41 AM

I signed up again!!

paperpieceme 09-30-2013 05:59 AM

okay who is going to bail me out when DH has me committed to the loony bin? i stayed up waaaaay to late working on this little top (they are addictive, i told you!) so i have a top. now it just needs all the little embellishments that are going to make it shine. its amazing that yesterday at this time i didnt even have an idea. of course the list of unfinished ufos didnt get knocked down at all this weekend. ;)

Elisabrat 09-30-2013 06:05 AM

OK I AM IN KIFFIE :) If you will jump so will I. sigh. You forced me to do it. Yup handcuffs and all dragged me to the lap top and said sign up or take the consequences. NO DoLL quilts for you if you don't sign up. well given that choice which was really no choice I had to sign up. Its all your fault. hope your my partner. You like weird I mean um different you would be perfect as my partner. lol. So traditional I am not.

This is going to be one of the fun swaps I think. A beautiful variety of interpretations of the Golden Glow theme.. my mind goes right to a sunset which is certainly not a candle but still a golden glow. I get a kick out of watching the sun rise and set each day.. when we get those beautiful colors in the sky.. ah that is a special moment. Yesterday we had this slice of salmon almost color right under this big white/gray cloud . It only lasted about 5 minutes but it was an "ah" moment. :) I also go to the candles I put on my sideboard at Christmas. I place them right near a sparkly decoration say a bowl of glass ornaments.. and I turn the lights off except for the tree and garland. Everything sparkles.. it reminds me of being a kid how much I loved sparkly things. So that is what I see in my head when I think candles.. glowing, sparkling wonderfully magical light. :) now put that in a doll quilt why don't you!

mooretll 09-30-2013 11:04 AM

I am doing a retreat in two weeks and hope to find some goodies at the retreat. any one in Panama city, Fl gonna be there look me up if you are.

QuiltingKrazy 09-30-2013 12:52 PM

You ladies are a hoot! I love all the comments and replies if you signed up for the OCT swap and I haven't acknowledged the PM forgive me....I am behind! I will get a list of all swappers posted tonight and have partners assigned by tomorrow sometime! Don't shoot me if it isn't bright and early tomorrow!

kiffie2413 09-30-2013 03:03 PM

To our "fearless dq swap leader". Whomsoever thinks the day shalleth start bright and early shall well, quit thinking!!! Of course if you notice my post times, it is apparent I am: A-an insomniac, B-a night owl, C-a character that should've been in the Twilight series of books, a sparkly in the sun character, or D-an insomniac, night owl, who is way too old to be in the Twilight books but not too old to crack really pitiful jokes. Okay all you who said C....Um, nope...lol

Brat, you better be signed up is all I'm-a sayin' (said in my best John Wayne/Clint Eastwood voice, with a feminine "Ellie Mae Clampett" touch..Okay, yes, I have a horrible (or wonderful?? drawl).. I would love to get you as my pardner...don't say I didn't warn ya, though...dh is out hunting as I type...he also sent me 3 different pics last week while he was at work. One said: New friend, was a pic of a Tarantula. One said: Mean lil blank, was a pic of a Bull snake that was coiled up waiting at foot of stairs as hubby was on his rounds. To that pic he added: Wants to be a rattler when he grows up. Third pic was the 2nd time he had happened upon another Tarantula, that one said: More new friends, rescued this one from sure death. Yes, I did, I went there and was insane enough to ask him when he got home " Just HOW he rescued that spider?" He said, "Picked him up and carried him out, set him in the grass by the basins, because co-worker would have killed him.". Sounds to me like "co-worker" is the one with ANY sense on that matter!! But have to say, isn't my hubby just the sweetest thang?? Doesn't it make you all "warm and fuzzy" knowing he helped save that poor spider. HELP me someone!! I would only kill a Tarantula or ANY spider with heel dust as I was running in the other direction! I would be feeling "warm and fuzzy" from some warmish liquid that might be running down my legs if I happened upon a Tarantula and was close enough for IT to touch ME!!!

Paperpieceme, See I knew you would want to play with us "forever, and ever, and ever..." or at least til this month's swap is done.

Kif

Elisabrat 09-30-2013 06:21 PM

What the heck does your dh do? he needs a new job! and oh my crud my pants oh no oh he.. no spiders of any sort get the boot quick if I have to run to the neighbors and get someone to kill it. they do not live in my house. My x dh we did only stocking gifts between us and in my stocking was SPIDER spay. I had the best laugh of my life, it was the perfect gift for me yet whose hubby shops the pesticide isle for gifts? I mean really. Now my new man of my life gives me dead animal skins. wonder is that progress? or a lateral move? lol.. your man is nuts.

I am in. watch out. I am starting on what appears to be a colorful dq. I hope it comes out like I hope. Lots of work to finish I think. wish me luck... can't wait for names. Maybe I will get like 10 of them! (kinda hope I don't).

Lynnie25 09-30-2013 06:26 PM

LOL LOL kiffie, gosh I love your ramblings.... can't wait to see you in the next Twilight series too :)

SPIDERS...arrrrggggggggghhh are my NO 1 hate. And those big hairy ones are the worst ! I wouldn't even wait to kill it, I would be running in the opposite direction. I was driving one day when one of those meanies slinked out from behind the sun visor - I screamed as I pulled the car almost off the street, threw open the door and jumped out (almost into the line of traffic). Some darling man came to my rescue and hunted down that meanie and threw him out right into the line of traffic. Now when I get in the car the first thing I do is pull down the sun visor to see if anything is lurking behind it.

Elisabrat 09-30-2013 07:25 PM

I would have died right then and there. one there was one on the window I didn't see but my friend did. she said linda turn here NOW. pull over NOW I thought oh no she is prego is something wrong? she said GET OUT OF THE CAR which I did thinking she might be losing it a bit. it was then she slowly got out and said turn on the flashers there is a big spider on the windshield. I said turn them on yourself not getting back in that car. yikes if I had seen it two dead if not more people for sure. I don't do them at all. ever. not ever ever. yikes no more chat about those things or I wont be back til its all over. oh heck no.

ok here it goes. Kiffie your getting old. I didn't want to say it but its true. Sleep is ruined, it is shorter than you wish for you flop over at random times find yourself UP at 3 ready to do something.. its wrong but it happens. join the club. no tv shows for you or there would be one cast overload with all of us in the same darned boat. sigh.. things happen :)

Paperpiece me I have a plan. NO bail but I COULD spring you if your taken away. like rope to your window you slither out the window I will have the get away car and a sewing machine in hand in case of emergency. your going to be safe. Also a good plan not to mention it to him :) and he might not notice you too are never sleeping as your sewing away for all your swaps. Phew.. this is an easy one. you are truly safe. no get away car needed.

kiffie2413 09-30-2013 11:15 PM

Oh my goodness, Lynnie, I'm with Brat.. I would've definitely had that warm feeling...and a ruined car seat! I can just picture you pulling down that visor and...well, wish I couldn't picture it though..lol.
In spite of living with Jed Clampett, er I mean my hubby, I. don't. do. spiders. EVER. either!!

Dh works for the water treatment plan in the city we live just outside of. There are lot of critters out and about at his work. He doesn't kill any of them except for poisonous ones..killed several Black Widows few weeks back..and has killed 3 Prairie Rattlers in the last couple of years. One of those is the one I posted the pic of where he preserved the skin..what's worse than that is I actually helped him locate the stuff he needed to do the preservation! What's this world coming to??..When Nellie Olsen teams up with Jed Clampett??!! Okay, I'm not like Nellie, but I ain't no Calamity Jane, either!
Um, Brat I have the pic of the 1st "new friend" dh sent me on my computer..guessing you don't want a quilt made from that pic printed on fabric, eh?? I'm kidding, don't disbar me from QB!! Kidding about quilt, not about having pic...lol. I laughed at you getting bug spray in your stocking, that's hilarious.
Thanks for reiterating what I already knew.. I'm old. But hafta tell ya I don't wake at 3 am because I haven't been to sleep by then yet! So, I must be in the reeeeally old group.
Off to harrass others somewhere else, y'all enjoy your peace and quiet with me gone.
K
