Yippee!! I got an old friend (from the old R.A.K. days).

Debbie I THINK that I might still have your address unless you
have moved since last year.

I will send you a pm with my address just in case you need it.

Sapphire_Rae 10-01-2013 02:03 PM

Just answered QuiltyMom's PM. Nice to meet you, Sue! I have an idea in my head, we'll see what happens by the time I get it pieced. My plan is to mail my finished DQ the third week or so. Happy sewing.

Chasezzz 10-01-2013 02:24 PM

Yeah! Grandma DI and I have exchanged PMs and will be doing...Christmas candles!

QuiltingKrazy 10-01-2013 03:09 PM

Glad things are off to a great start!!!

Lynnie25 10-01-2013 03:56 PM

Sent emc1118 a PM, now need to decide what to make this month.

OMG we are getting battered here in northern Tassie today, galeforce winds and torrential rain. Windows are shaking and the back door is about to cave in. Just had to go chase a few flying objects around the yard and secure them. What happened to the nice sunny spring weather??? :( :( Hope the power doesn't go off - although lights are flickering badly so will happen I guess - thank goodness I have lots of hand sewing I can get done.

kwiltkrazy 10-01-2013 04:09 PM

Lynnie stay tucked in, cuddle up and work on your DQ. We had it really bad for a couple of days. But now, it is sunny and calm.

Think "lights are flickering" sounds like a DQ to me!

kiffie2413 10-01-2013 06:14 PM

Just answered my partner kwiltkrazy's pm. Excited to be involved in this swap! Especially since I happened upon a "glowing" idea...;)

Lynnie25, Oh my word! Hope your weather changes for the better, and soon! You and your dh still planning a lil vacation to your fishing cabin? Hope y'all can safely still go...take care!

The lights flickered and went out over 2 hours ago so my sewing time has ground to a halt. getting some prep work done though. no major damage at home but trees and water across roads everywhere. Thank goodness for iPads to stay in touch but I wish they could brew coffee... I am about at withdrawal stage right now. :). :)

kiffie2413 10-02-2013 02:04 AM

Lynnie,
Glad to hear your ok, and the weather should be clearing soon. Enjoy your time at your fishing cabin, and your coffee when you get to make some!
K

Elisabrat 10-02-2013 05:23 AM

the not having coffee is a horror worse than the lights out, rain flooding and well winds that take you for a kite ride down the road.. no coffee. My sincere sympathies to you my dear woman. What a nightmare! I am unable to hit return right now on the darned computer no clue why. what a nightmare for me! lol.. (not as bad as no coffee however) .. I have spoken to my partner Dabbler and she is recovering from sticker shock. How did I get BRAT for a partner and what the heck will I receive? something interesting my dear something interesting :) I am going to work on that today and a baby quilt. multi task and mailing gotta hit the post office and shoot need to run to Jaba's and where will my hours come from? magic, I need a magic act here. any ideas?

omacookie 10-02-2013 05:46 AM

Hello, Did you forget me ?I signed up for October DQ swap. Thank you, omacookie

QuiltingKrazy 10-02-2013 06:27 AM

omacookie I am SO SORRY! I didn't mean to leave you off the list! YES you can play and if you'll have me I'll be your partner! Unless someone lurking out there wanted to sign up and didn't.... now is you chance to jump into the fun!

Tam...Moo 10-02-2013 06:47 AM

Oh my goodness - my partner is Jaba - what a sweet sweet lady - I cannot wait to swap. Quiltingcrazy - thanks so much for hosting.

jaba 10-02-2013 06:52 AM

Thank you Tam...Moo, what a nice compliment that is! I try but some days are better than others if you know what I mean. Got my little "idea" quilted for you yesterday, maybe, unless you want something specific. Still have to sew the binding. Let me know your wishes, sent you a PM

dabbler312 10-02-2013 07:39 AM

I will never be without coffee again if the power goes out - I have an old fashion stove top coffee perker - it's my camping coffee pot - I make certain that I have kerosene fuel on hand for camping stove and lantern. I had to deal without coffee once and the headaches were more than I care to experience again; now I'm prepared/if worse came to worse I can make coffee and cook food on an open fire as well - Jill of all trades master of none - that's how I came up with my online name - I have many many interests and like to dabble a little in each.

Have a fantabulous day!

kiffie2413 10-02-2013 10:26 AM

Good luck on finding hours in the day, Brat...if you discover the "magic secret" let us in on it!
Um, I don't drink coffee..never have..I can see the  now from you coffee lovers...I do admit to a lil Coca Cola habit...and not just the Coke theme dining room I have...
I just hafta say all of you who are posting you're finished, or just have to do one thing on your quilts are scarin' the Kifster...
K
To my partner: I don't mean to add you to the "a-scared" group with me... I have never shipped a swap late, well unless you count my dear, patient Lynnie25...waiting oh so sweetly "across the pond".. But she knows her runner is heading over, with "friends" included.

kwiltkrazy 10-02-2013 10:34 AM

not a-scared, I know I'll get mine.

kiffie2413 10-02-2013 03:18 PM

=kwiltkrazy;6326420]I'm not a-scared, I know I'll get mine.[/QUOTE]

Kwiltkrazy,
I knew you and I were going to get along just fine.
The one fabric I just " had to have" to make your quilt the way I wanted to make it came in today...along with a few others that were absolutely necessary...that's my story, and I'm stickin' to it!
Off to get washing, pressing, drawing, and cutting...oh, and throw a lil quilting in there, too.

Lynnie25, I hope you're NOT reading this...because you and your hubby made it safely to your fishing cabin.:)
No internet service CAN be a good thing, under the right circumstances.
Have a great night all!
Kif

I am! My lil granddaughter is coming over for "Grammy" time tonight. She loves to sit on my lap and push the start/stop button and "help" me sew. She knows all about Grammy's swapping here..she will ask me if I "have anything new from my quilt friends from the computer?" when she comes over. She's also been known to "Just love that lil " that might have come in. Once I received a lil pillow pincushion as an extra on the fq swap, she loved it "so much" with that sweet lil "please look"; it's now a doll pillow for her favorite doll..lol

Can't wait to have lil grands, my oldest son is getting married this month, so maybe there is still a chance. I don't know though, they say they probably won't have any.

jaba 10-03-2013 05:10 PM

One of my great grand daughters, 2 grandkids and kids will be here next week. I can hardly wait to see them. I get pretty tired when they are here but it is so worth it. Doctor appts. tomorrow if I can make it there, 115 miles away and it is winter here today, tomorrow and through Saturday. We have 3" of snow right now and it's still snowing, fireplace is going and it's 31.5 degrees. Winter is here.....

kiffie2413 10-03-2013 06:08 PM

Jaba,
Enjoy your family! And your winter weather...I sure do miss the winters we used to have...I am up in the panhandle area of Texas, so we actually do get snow...often when we do its a "Blue Norther".
http://www.weather.com/news/blue-norther-20121003
It brings along howling winds and drifts 6-7+ feet out in the country where we live. I could do without the strong winds...but I love the snow! And, I love rain...but the last 2-3 years we have been in a terrible drought, so any precipitation we get I am thankful for! Be safe if you do get out to the Dr tomorrow!

Kwiltkrazy,
Dh and I weren't going to have children when we married, either...til about 2 yrs later I got "baby fever". We have one son, who is the light of our lives, along with his wife and our lil granddaughter. Hubby and I also waited a long time to be Grampy and Grammy. Our granddaughter was 4 in June, and we are gaining a grandson in December! We only have the one son, he and dil say 2 kids will be it for them. Before our son married, it was a family joke about him being an "old bachelor"...tho he was only in his mid 20's. Also before he married I would tell him I was "going to be my own grandma, since I was never going to be anyone else's!". Son has the same "wonderful?" sense of humor dh and I have. He got to where he would reply, "don't worry Mom, I will find out if any potential dates have grandkids for ya!".
So, never fear!! Grandchildren may be in your future... I always say I respect people's decisions to have children or not..or to have only 1 child. It's much better for people who don't want children to not have them, especially for the child. This is only my humble opinion...and we all know the saying about people's opinions...
K

kwiltkrazy 10-03-2013 06:24 PM

I agree with you. people who don't want children shouldn't have them. But, both of them would be great parents, and I would be a magnificent grandma.Hahaha

I bet you would make an amazing grandma! I wanted to tell you some of my family's story to let you know even "us peeps" who say we don't think we will have kids sometimes change our minds...and in my case, I CAN'T imagine not having my son...or my granddaughter! Hubby, either...he and our son are "thick as thieves".
My comment about respecting peoples decisions on children partly comes from dh and I have had comments about only having one child...Now I wouldn't presume to comment to anyone about how many children they have, or don't have. That's a personal decision. Also sometimes people cannot have children, or can have only one.
I also have a cousin, who I am sorry to say, took off and left her 3 children with her husband (their dad). From what I know she seems to be just fine being gone from them. She had said before she wished she hadn't had the first one..then proceeded to have 2 more. I just can't wrap my mind around that. But in that case the kids are better off being with their dad.
Regards,
Kif

kwiltkrazy 10-03-2013 07:50 PM

Our boys are my husband and my treasures, we are finding it very hard not having them in our lives every day, one lives in Ohio and the other lives 14 miles away. but we hear from the one that lives in Ohio more often than we do he one near by. But the one near by often shows up with something to do like process a deer into the freezer. He lives in the Forest service barrack so he doesn't have the facilities, but we always enjoyed doing things together, and we had a lot of fun. I miss doing things with them all the time. Making Christmas cookies, cooking special dinners, dyeing Easter Eggs........ Well, enough ranting. good night to all.

kiffie2413 10-04-2013 01:05 AM

Kwiltkrazy,
That's not ranting...that's reminiscing! And we mom's deserve to do that...I often feel like it just can't have been 20 years since my son was in elementary school...sigh... So you just reminisce all you want!
K

Elisabrat 10-04-2013 05:13 AM

quiltingkrazy I can take another partner if you need one. I am planning on having the one I started for Dabbler done this weekend so I would have time to whip one out, ideally a holiday/Christmas theme as I have five patterns for them that I found and loved :) we woke up to a foot of snow give take and the porch so snow covered it was really hard to push open. Steve just cleared the walk ways for my neighbors to get out too. Lucky for him the lady with the adorable doggies is going to give him a ride in to town. he may be late but he will get there. We have stupidly not bought chains yet figured we still have time. dumb bunnies! its a toasty 24 right now. a high of 37 before you take in the 15-20 mile a winds. lovely. time for a hot chocolate. something hot for sure I get frosty quick. the windows are covered with snow its kinda pretty I remember my mom using that spray on the windows to get that affect. so pretty. I lived in the Sierras with heavy snow but the windows never got it as the trees took the brunt as it silently fell. It did not fall silently yesterday. it snowed sideways.

Quilty-Louise 10-04-2013 08:21 AM

Debbie (mooretll) I will be starting yours when I get
over this crud I have.

kwiltkrazy 10-04-2013 09:18 AM

Brat I am good, this is a hard month for spare time, finishing my son's wedding quilt, before the 15th. But thanks for the offer. Looking forward to having you as a partner soon.

buslady 10-04-2013 01:03 PM

I am so sad. I missed sign up. Oh well. I kept saying I needed to take a month off to catch up. Really enjoyed reading today. I was way back on page 2! Love to hear about the kids. I have a boy and 2 girls. 8 grands. Neither of my girls ever took an interest in sewing, still don't. But the one and only girl grand I have is quite the little sewer. As is one of the boys. More of them would if I could handle it. LOL I do get with them once in a while and they make something. Oh, the memories we are making. I have been spending every spare minute trying to finish a quilt for our church quilt show the 19th. DH had hip replaced last week so work on it halted. I hope to finish it up over the weekend. DGD made "bibs" for her great gramma, on her daddy's side, at our 4-H meeting Tuesday!! Seems odd, but gram has trouble eating and doesn't like getting her clothes messed up. Lilly had a wonderful time. "she would like this", "she loves that". Lilly is a little helper (when she wants to be) and often goes with her grandma to help take care of GGram and her home. I get all teary eyed thinking about the memories she is making. WOW, I guess I have missed my time on the board. I really got off on a tangent there. LOL Can't wait to see what you all make, if I find time I might just make one for myself. That would be novel.

kiffie2413 10-04-2013 06:32 PM

Buslady,
Sounds like a great time you are having with your "grands", making irreplaceable memories! Hope your dh heals quickly..mine had a bone spur and it had chipped off and torn his right Achilles, had surgery last November. Had to be off work 3 mos, mainly due to the fact he also has MS, and unfortunately it has affected his left leg (we say why couldn't the Achilles deal have been on that leg, so at least he would've had one "good" leg..). He was non weight-bearing for 8 weeks, used a rolling walker with the seat, that way he could prop his "casted" leg on the seat and "go to town". Lol.. 4 more wks in walking boot, then back to work. Don't know who was more excited, him or me?? Teehee..
Regards,
Kif

Elisabrat 10-05-2013 04:26 AM

I gotta say I don't know where you get the energy to do everything you do! Seriously...you are an inspiration to those of us who also have health issues...and I am betting to those who don't!!

Have a wonderful day everyone. I'm on my way to the hospital to check on my dad. twice in the hospital in two weeks- he keeps falling. Guess it's time to move him to the nursing home.
