tlambing 08-10-2014 09:22 PM

Question: what size is too small/large for a doll quilt? I'm almost thinking I'm going too big? Any input would be greatly appreciated! I can make my pattern a little smaller if need be, just wondering what size others are going for?
Teresa

Judith1005 08-11-2014 04:26 AM

tlambing, it's always been very flexible. I would estimate, 12 1/2" sq to 20-24" sq. Or, it can be oblong also. I really think it's up to the maker. Is that right girls (guys)? It's been a long time since I've been in the swap. Have the rules changed? I guess that's a good thing to know now, before I send the wrong size one. (There is time to make another if I need to.)

QuiltingKrazy 08-11-2014 01:04 PM

I think anything about 24" width or length or smaller would be perfect. OF course nothing is set in stone about what size is to big for a doll quilt. Remember the "Quilt Police" DO NOT exist!

Okay, Mines slightly larger , I'm gonna go for it! Thanks for the input all :)

sdeaaz 08-11-2014 03:44 PM

I was wondering about size as I was doing mine too. It ended up being 16x20.. so I guess I am in the ballpark. Nise, I have it done, but want to wait until next week to mail. I need a show and tell project for next week. Since I have been gone and didn't work on anything else... this will be it...I will let you know when I mail. Thanks.

Also... why is it necessary for tracking #.... ? postage without is a lot less expensive.....

jaba 08-11-2014 05:43 PM

You can track it, it's insured and delivery is more reliable. Most of the swaps on the board require you to have it now. To many people receiving and not mailing.

Been working today on my doll quilt. So glad my partner likes scrappy! It's turning out lovely :) and only a little huge.

Dearest Quiltingkrazy;
Sorry I have been off-line for so long, my arm was broken and they had to reset it and in cast for a while, so no quilting, that coupled with computer problems, then last month my beloved Mother died. So things have been a wreck here. But, your quilt is almost done. Will need your new address to send it to.
Thank you so much for your patience.
Kwiltkrazy(Lucinda)
PS- glad you are moved. Now is the settling in time.

Krisb 08-24-2014 11:19 AM

Is it time to sign up for September yet?

Judith1005 08-26-2014 06:34 AM

KwiltKrazy, I hope your feeling better and that your body is healing. I am so sorry to hear of your mom. You are in my thoughts and prayers. It will take so much longer to remember your mom without crying. But, the day will come and you will remember her only with happy thoughts and smiles. And she will always reside in your heart. *Hugs*

Lisa, I mailed off to my partner today. And she has also touched base with me as well. I know, I really enjoyed the process of making my doll quilt this month. I was reluctant to rush through the process. Thank you partner for your patience.

Lisa, how is settling into your house going? Are you located very far from your family? Are the furr children adjusting into their new surroundings?

jaba 08-30-2014 04:04 PM

TL that is so cute...all those wee tiny squares! Lots of sewing in that and they look perfect :)

Judith1005 08-30-2014 08:10 PM

That's really pretty tlambing. I don't think it's too big. I love your design and fabrics.

Here is my beautiful Quilt from Judith1005, it is so pretty and she even did hand quilted Hibscus flowers in the centers of each 9 patch. Thank you so much Judith! I love it.

sdeaaz 09-01-2014 03:43 PM

very nice Judith....

Judith1005 09-03-2014 05:17 AM

Thank you sdeaaz.

Letsquilt, thank you for the very lovely doll quilt. I just love that shade of turquoise.

Note the darling decorative outer edge. Again in that lovely shade of turquoise. And the creamy print is to die for. It has bits of gold flecks in it. Very rich.

Not pictured, (shamefaced) is the twister tool that letsquilt sent. She had an extra so sent it to me. I can't wait to play around with that. Thank you so much for the lovely swap this month.

Lisa, will there be a September doll quilt swap? I didn't realize how much I missed these.

Aw, a couple more darling 9 patcher's. Love them both. I'm chuckling just a bit. One of you went blue and the other went pink. (giggle)
