i wonder if we need to 'remind' them we are on this thread as well. i haven't seen either of them on here yet...
:(

Boopers 03-22-2011 07:05 AM

I had forgotten all about this thread. thanks for reminding me. The plan for my view is in my head. You all know I don't like to applique so my row is pieced. My view is mountains, sunset and more mountains. I don't think it will take very long to do, once I get to it.

lindyline 03-22-2011 12:39 PM

I got it. I can make my block. Trustees of the shrine of remembrance said I can use the image. Now to finish the sewing and decide on a few more "views".

jacquie 03-22-2011 03:37 PM

ohhh wow!!!! how fabulous is that!!!
way to go linda!!!
i'm seeeeeeew pleased for you!!!!

i was going to say, just use it. they will never know, but it's so much nicer and 'honest' to have the important 'yes, it's fine'!!!

i'm sew looking forwards to seeing it!!
you will need to tell us more about your view! sounds very interesting!!

i think we need an in-depth explanation to everyones views and why we have chosen them! don't you!?!

pattis47 03-22-2011 03:44 PM

That is such wonderful news. That must mean they felt you did the Shrine of Remembrance justice in your rendition with fabric, needle and thread. Congratulations !!!!!

Pugh I really like your view!!

pattis47 03-24-2011 06:53 PM

You are really just moving right along Jacquie. You will be far ahead of me now. I am going home to visit my son and his family this weekend. That means no sewing. My granddaughter has a concert on saturday so it will be alot of fun. She has called several times to be sure I will be there, like I would miss it! I will just have to be more diligent next week to keep pace with you.

i promise you i won't shoot ahead in the sewing dept! lol although i am doing nothing but hand sewing just now, as i twisted my back some how the other day, and it is seeeeeew sore!! i can't do an awful lot at the moment but sew!!
(SUCH A SHAME!!) LOL...

looking forwards to hearing about your weekend!!

I'll still be here lol... waiting to hear all of your news...
have fun!!

i really appreciate all the work you've done on my row prior to the quilt show, but seriously!! please finish your pincushions etc!!
i would hate for you to be running around panicking at the end of the 7 days, as you've ran out of time!!
like i said, my row will still be there :)

Oh, Jacquie ...... your view is coming out fantastic! Just hope my view will come out as I have invisioned it. Sure will be glad, when I can get started on it.

Was looking ahead at the order in which I will be receiving the individual rows ..... believe I've got it figured out right .... and when I get your View Row to work on, the theme for the row will be your "Baskets w/ Fruits". So between now and then keeping the mind and eyes open for the cream and blue fabrics, along with the designing of the same. :)

jacquie 03-28-2011 03:55 PM

maine ladybug 04-06-2011 11:49 AM

Hi all you "view" ladies! I didn't even realize we had this place to talk and show our view pictures. I just found it when I was looking at who I was supposed to send my row out to.
Anyway, I'm here now and will post a picture of my row before I send it out. It's been done for weeks and I am anxious to get going!!
Looking forward to working with all of you again and welcome to Linda!
Oh, and Jacquie your view is starting off wonderfully!

jacquie 04-06-2011 12:03 PM

well done joan!! you have really done well getting yours finished sew soon!!
mine hasn't got any further since my photo above, as i have the christening dresses to think about.
i'm also needing a little inspiration to complete this last bit on the left.
i'm wanting to add 'fur baby; fudge', (our springer spaniel) and our deceased 'fur baby; bonnie' (golden lab, who died 2 years ago)
i suppose i should add 'tibby' & 'king noodles' (cats) as well, and maybe our deceased cat 'jinxy'? (where do you stop??? lol)
i need to play around with it.

i'm off to 2 interviews tomorrow, and we have a 'viewer' on friday, then the baby shower on saturday!! life is busy at the moment!!
i then need to sew the 2 bolero jacket's together which i have cut out, and then cut & sew the 2nd christening dress.

phew!!!!!! when did you say you where coming over to help me ladies???
I have 2 spare rooms here at this house!! lol (unfortunately when/if we move, we won't have any!! :( )

jacquie 04-06-2011 12:06 PM

ohh, i forgot to say!!!!

joan... where are your photo's!!!???!!!
:?: :?: :?: ;) ;) ;)

pattis47 04-06-2011 01:39 PM

jacquie
keep fur baby fudge on terra firma and the others up above as angels

Remember what I told you about working, it sure cuts into your sewing....I dont see how you will have time to work....you will just have to tell him.....SORRY!

I guess some of you would like to see my row. Well, I'll post a picture soon, but here's a little teaser....
I used actual photos I've taken out my window.

I hope you still think so when you see it. My Dad really liked it ( I'm still spending a few days a week with him at his house ). Here it is the whole row and a couple of the blocks in close up.

Joan,
That is just AWESOME! What a wonderful idea. The whole row is marvelous. I'm glad you get to spend time with your dad and still work on your projects. Now I will have to put my thinking cap on and get down to work on planning the row I will do for your quilt.....Phhewwww, what a challenge.

I hope jacquie took my advice and took a nap so she could see the pictures.....she will be so excited. She loves to take pictures too.....

Wow nice view. Must get started on the rest of mine.

maine ladybug 04-06-2011 06:33 PM

Thank you for your kind words. I don't really get to work on things while I'm at Dad's, but he does enjoy seeing what I have done, so I try to take things to show him. He is so proud of the quilt I made him after my Mom passed, that he makes everyone go into his room to see it on the bed. He's a great Dad. I couldn't have gotten better parents if I had ordered them.
Sorry for my rambling. Thanks again for what you said.

pattis47 04-06-2011 07:03 PM

I lost my dad when I was 18, it is the one regret I have in my life. He was my best friend. My life was changed immeasurably. I am so happy you have the time and talent to spend it with him.

your photo's make your 'view' sew much more personal as 'you' took the pics! very very clever. i really like it!

i'm very sorry Patti that you lost your father at such a young age. i had a real lump in my throat reading your post... i love my Dad to bits an would hate to have gone through what you did. very sorry. i hope you still have lots of lovely memories though, that have travelled with you throughout your life.
god bless, love jacquie xxxx

Well, so much for my week of sewing on retreat. My son broke his leg on Thursday night and had surgery to repair it yesterday. He may come home today or tomorrow and will be non weight bearing for several weeks ( crutches )so he'll need my help. My friends are all there sewing away.... Oh well, life gets in the way of sewing some times.

pattis47 04-09-2011 10:42 AM

How well I found out last night. My plan was to work on my "VIEW", got a phone call that my grandson was on the way to hospital for CT Scan of the head, he was hurt at school in gym. It took hours for the tests and results, but as my granddaughter put it, "They didnt find anything in his head, so how is he so smart if he doesnt have a brain?" After we all laughed, we were relieved it was a concussion and nothing more serious since he complained of pain in his legs below the knees. First thought was spinal injury and of course worst case paralaysis. He is much better this morning, still complaining of headache, but they said that could last for several days.
You know I was on my way, as soon as I hung up the phone.
IT takes about 2 hrs in traffic, but was only a 90 minute drive. I think the speedometer may have been just a little off yesterday.....Happy to report all is well. talk with everyone next week. Time to spoil him. He has already put in his order for dinner tonight and breakfast in the morning. He knows I love to cook for them and he indulges my pleasures.

Joan, I hope your son will do well with your help. A mom can always make it better.

The best laid plans...
I'm sure your GS will love having his favorite meals and I too try to do that for them when they need the extra attention.
Thanks and good luck to you too.

jacquie 04-09-2011 01:01 PM

omgoodness joan!!
'it never rains, but, it pours'!!!!!

your poor son! this will drive him nuts!!
my dad was in plaster a couple of years ago few months... he had his 'Achilles tendon' snapped at a Ceilidh. some chap kicked the back of his heel during a dance! these dances can be wild, people flying around everywhere!

that's such a shame you missed your sewing!!! were you booked into a sewing weekend some place?? awww bless :)

well, we've all had a brilliant day!!!
we had our baby shower for Rachael & Ben today, and ohh! what a great time we had!!
there were a total of around 30 people in the house,
and we played 4 games which were very successful...

here's what we played...
1) guess how many sweets in the giant baby bottle... (which there were 573!!!),
2) whose that baby?? (everyone brought a baby photo, we had to match the name to the picture)
3) what is the baby food? (10 jars of Heinz baby food, 5 savoury, 5 sweet) YUKKKK!!!!! i think i put rachael off EVER buying 'bought' baby food!!! GOOD!!! LOL...
4) safety pin game, (who ever says the word 'baby' loses their safety pin. person with the most safety pins, wins...)

lots of lovely food, lovely company, and all in all, we really had a lovely time!!
the weather came out beautifully for us, so we were able to open up all the doors and windows and use the garden too! such lovely sunny weather!!! unbelievable!!!
what a wonderful day! and the first baby shower any of us have probably ever encountered.

after lots of tidying, we're finally sitting down with our feet up and i'm enjoying a nice, well deserved glass of wine!!

i hope you've all had a great day too!!! and lovely weather to match!!
love jacquie xxxxxx

Holy Smokes ..... between Patti - Joan & Jacquie ..... there isn't too much left to say, than can top what all of you have going on in your lives, right now!

"ALL THREE OF YOU" ..... sit down - put your feet up - take a deep breath. (That shot of fresh air clears the mind sometimes!) Patti and Joan got you our prayers on this end for both of you .... and Jacquie, sounds like a good night's rest will do wonders for you.

Thanks Dayle. As was said, "when it rains, it pours". I'm ready for my life to get boring any time it wants to!! I told my sister today that I think it's someone elses turn next, I'm getting tired.
My son is still in the hospital ( they didn't let him come home to day because he's in too much pain.) They think he'll be ready tomorrow.
I am missing my annual week up north at a quilting retreat. I don't mind missing it, but of course it's already paid for and I hate losing that money. Family is more important of course, but it is hard to lose it.
Hopefully everything will turn out okay for my son with time and that is what really matters to me.
Jacquie, it soulnds like you had a wonderful day! I'm so happy for you and your family. When is the baby due? I'm sure you all are waiting to see her and getting excited. I wish you all great happiness.

jacquie 04-13-2011 02:26 AM

well, Rachael & Ben came round here for dinner yesterday, and GOSH!!! she's getting big!!!!!
i got out a picture of me carrying my first baby to show her! i was 1 month further on than her in the picture (8 mths), but she's even bigger!!! she's got 8 weeks left to go!!! (32wks)
she's starting to panic a little at the size of her bump, and the thought of having to 'deliver'.
awwwww blessssss... she'll do fine, i'm sure :)
it must be scary though to a young lass during her first pregnancy...
it's all worth it though! isn't it!!!
:) :) :)

lindyline 04-13-2011 02:29 AM

Jacquie, I was hinking this myself not so long ago. We have 3 grandchildren, and it seems the younger generation think everything will be easy. They don't quite get that if you work harder for it, the gain seems so much sweeter.
I'm sure Rachel and baby will do just fine. Sometimes with all the do's and don'ts of pregnancy, I wonder how we managed, let alone the generations before us.

jacquie 04-14-2011 02:44 PM

have we any more pictures of Row's in progress???:?: :?: :?:

we're not seeing many photos here!!!
i'd love to see what everyone else is doing:!: :!:
come on, share time!!!!
