wow joan!
i LOVE your avatar!!!!!! beautiful!!
and i have a feeling boopers is going to adore it!!! lol...

lindyline 04-16-2011 02:09 PM

Hmm, pics, now that's a problem. I still haven't done much more. Bought more fusible webbing at the quilt convention yesterday, so now I can fuse to my hearts content. All I have to do is organise what it will be. The ideas are still there, I just need the time to execute them. Doesn't help that every time I get the time, and motivation the DH gets another kidney stone. Not only that, but the one year old DGS is in ospital with asthma. And over here, they don't like to diagnose it in children under 3.Go figure.I too am more than ready for someone else to have a turn. We have a very politicall incorrect saying over here, when something goes wrong, I must have killed a chinaman. Well in my scase, I reckon the while entire nation is wiped out!!!
Cheers

Well, I must say that I love your avatars too!
Mine is the silk quilt I made a couple of years ago and it hangs in my sewing room right now. I love the jewel tones in it. It even made the cover of a local magazine here.

WOW JOAN!!!
well done!!!!! that's fabulous news!! i really love the quilt!!!! silk, you say? OMGoodness! Gorgeous!!!!!! i'm drooling!!!

Boopers, i agree, the avatars are lovely to look at, and a great idea!! i think it's nice to change them every so often. mine is one of the blocks i've just done for the new sew along on here, starting in june i think. the 'Affairs of the Heart Cyber-Sew 2011'. there are some stunning blocks on show already!!

Linda!! sorry to hear about the depleting numbers of china-men over in Oz! how about i send you some 'Lucky White Heather'!!!! it sounds like you could do with some!! lol...
i hope the family recover ASAP! no fun at all when everyone is under parr!! i wish you DGS well, when they are at that age they don't understand whats going on, which makes it all that bit harder for everyone. bless him! give him a big hug from all of us... little darling!!

lindyline 04-17-2011 02:34 AM

I gave little Tate a big hug from all this afternoon, but I must say he wasn't very appreciative. And to top off my day DH has been fine up until I went to cook tea, and is now suffering again.AAArrrggghhhh!!!!!
Ok I feel better now. ?I think I really need that "Lucky Whit Heather"you were talking about.
Well time to go sew some more Shrine. Have almost completed the sewing on block # 1. Bought more fusible webbing yesterday at the quilt convention, so now I can go whip up blocks 2 - 4.
Saw some beautiful quilts, but was not allowed to take pics, although there were some there doing just that.
Really interesting to see a quilt I stole my last IRR border from, hanging up right next to the quilt I'm stealing the next border from. Eerie actually. Butman were they gorgeous.

maine ladybug 04-17-2011 09:11 AM

Just wanted you to know I posted my retreat challenge quilts under pictures if you would like to see it. Title is Log Cabin Challenge.

jacquie 04-17-2011 01:30 PM

wow joan!!
i left you a pm there... it's truly gorgeous!!!!
you must be very very proud to own it!! and also state that you created it!!! i certainly would be!! it's beautiful!!!!
well done!!!

maine ladybug 04-17-2011 01:47 PM

I love making up my own patterns. Even if I buy a pattern I try to change it just a bit, to make it feel more like it's mine. Of course, I'm not always able to do that, but I try.

Okay - Okay .... believe it or not, "Yes it is me"! Was having a bit of trouble getting onto the board yesterday, but all is well it seems today. Betty sent me an Email and said she was having trouble also.

Got involved in a "huge - long overdue project" dating back to 2006. Spent the last "3 Days" organizing the "Play Room" (Sewing - Computer - Herman's Drafting Table - Filing Room).

This week is dedicated to putting together "My View" ... and "nothing else"! Will put in a post w/pictures the "3 Day Project".

Had my old "Entertainment Center Cabinet" (for Television, Stereo System and VHS Video Player - one of those "big monster TVs", not one of the new flat screen, skinny ones). Had it in our 2007 Yard Sale (when Herman and combined households), but it didn't sell, "Thank Goodness"!

It now has a new name: "The Therapy Center"

This is the organized "Therapy Center".

On top of the cabinet sits the Project Boxes, all labled.

TV housing area, now has labled storage containers, with color sorted small fabric pieces.

Lower Stereo housing section, now stores sewing tools, fabric scraps and more projects.

I finally got access to the board. Dayle, I love the therapy center.

I haven't been able to get on all day today until now. No trouble yesterday, just today.

Dayle, the therapy center is great. You must be so happy to have everything so neat and tidy. I wish my things were as nicely organized!

jacquie 04-19-2011 01:34 AM

i had trouble yesterday too, i think it MUST have been a 'quilting board' thing...

i too love you therapy centre Dayle!! and i'm really pleased it didn't sell! although if it had been me walking past and spotted it, i'd have snapped it up in a second!!
maybe use it as a 'therapy Centre'?? lol...
why shouldn't we have nice furniture to house our important possessions? lol...
wonderful things will grow from those cabinets!!! they need to be nurtured comfortably!!! :)

i'm just waiting on nice 'mr postman, kevin' to come knocking with a lovely squidgey parcel for me!!!

it's a BEAUTIFUL sunny day!! a delivery would just top it off nicely!!!!!

jacquie 04-19-2011 07:57 AM

Dayle, congrats on re-arranging everything. I found the best storage boxes for 12 1/2" blocks - > Pizza BOxes. They fit nicely and lay flat without folding them.

Yes .... they do. What I have done here is .... took one of those Pizza Boxes ..... padded just the top lid portion, covered it in a Ivory colored piece of flannel I had ..... and use it to lay out pieces I am making a block with and get a good idea how the block is going to look (especially when making different blocks each time) .... and like you said, these blocks lay flat in the box also, until ready to be sewn together. Also ... the padded box can lay right near where you are sewing .... so you don't have leave your machine and use a display board in another area.

Boopers 04-19-2011 08:50 PM

We had a surplus of political signs around here and I collected a few. I have one covered in batting and use it as a small design board. Works great.

jacquie 04-19-2011 10:33 PM

Patti!! what are you insinuating!!!! lol... :)

actually! when we're not in 'Kevin' leaves parcels in the old stable... and writes on the letter through the door ' package in stable, kevin'.
(i think he's after a 'tip' in his christmas card! i HOPE that's ALL he's after!!) lol
he's actually very thoughtful. the old couple who live along the lane leave out their mail for him to take with him, as we're 2 miles up the farm road, & well way from civilisation. V kind of him.

tut tut patti!! for thinking such a thing!! i don't think he'd look twice at me actually, he's seen me in my crumpled state, when he's wakened me out of bed ROFL!!! that's enough to scare the cats!!!
haha...

pattis47 04-20-2011 03:33 AM

I was sure you would get a chuckle out of that, and pretty sure you would not take it the wrong way... lol
My postman is just as thoughtful. When I get a package and I am not here, he leaves it with my neighbor and then the boys bring it over when they see me get home. I think either today or tomorrow will be your lucky day.....lets hope

Hi Girls --

I'm busy-busy working on "My View" .... very intense and slow going, but coming along. I will post a couple of pictures as soon as a little more progress has been made on it.

While I've been busy working on my project .... Herman put a project together for me today ..... I posted it on the QB ... click on the link and take a look at it.

Looks great Dayle ( and Herman )! I have one that sits on the counter that holds my rulers, but I really like the idea that you can hang it up and it can hold the rotary cutters too.

lindyline 04-25-2011 01:26 AM

Hello Jacqui, what about a pic of Errol?? Haven't done anymore on my row, but I will be working on it all week. Unable to sew this evening, because I spent hours chainsawing tree branches this morning, and my wrists and lower arms are really sore. Hopefully will be recovered by tomorrow, so I can get on with my view. I know what I want to do, just need to get to it.
Hope everyone had a Happy Easter spent with family and friends.
Oops, I should have waited, pic is here. Really cute little guy. I hope you're going to some training with him. Nothing worse than a dog with anti social manners.

The Lab dogs are the "greatest" .... beautiful family dogs. Son had a Chocolate one, now has Sandy (Blonde one) .... low and behold, Eileen (my daughter) a Blonde one (a rescue dog and her established name was Sandy also).

thank you ladies...
a row i don't think i could repeat!! it was such a lot of work!!
time consuming if you know what i mean!! but enjoyable non the less :)
i was doubtful for a while, i didn't think it was 'pulling' together, but once i had added the embroidery here and there it seemed to look a bit better.
i'm pleased with it :)
