Early Bird Threads is the 1st group for the 2011 Row Robin hosted by Bookworm. This is going to be sew much fun. I am anxious to get these rows shipped out with all the goodies we have been discussing. Let's try for a shipping date of Dec 15th for the original row to be in the mail. (Remember, this one may take a little longer to arrive due to holiday shipping).
** Be sure to insure your package and get confirmation on package. Since Jacquie thinks she will be able to do the 30 day turnaround I want to propose we continue with that date each month for January, February, March, and April. If this is a problem for anyone, please say so.

I believe Bookworm provided all of you with the info for mailing your rows. I will post the order that she sent to me so we all have the same thing.

Please be sure to post pictures here and on the Original site before you mail your row.
After you have added your row and sashing, if included please post another picuture before you mail it off to the next eagerly awaiting hands for more sewing.
If anyone has any other thought, comments, ideas please let us know.

Thanks for getting this up and running. I wondered were it had gone. I'm looking forward to seeing the rows. Go Early Birds!!

jacquie 12-07-2010 04:37 PM

oh wow!! here we are!!! at last!
this is great, i'm 'sew' excited...

i've been making drawings for my first row from 'RNUNU', which will be arriving soon, i hope! the material is washed, dried & ironed and eagerly waiting to be transformed!!

i have more material on it's way through the post for 'Maine Ladybug'...

so, it's all happening!!! i can post as soon as i have finished writing in my 'journal book'!! i still can't get the pc to talk to the printer, so... no pics... sorry about that!!

my 'autograph blocks are ready to go into the parcel, the label is done as well as the row.
things are finally moving!!
love jacquie xxxxx

Boopers 12-07-2010 09:28 PM

I guess I had better get busy making my row and the autograph blocks. I am pretty much caught up with my other projects. I have been thinking about my quilt top and kind of like the idea of vertical rows,so that is the way I am planning it.
The signature blocks are a good idea. We just finished a siggie block swap a couple of months ago. There were almost 200 swappers. I think my blocks will be usable in my block swap quilt.

Well here we are .... the "Early Bird Threads" are officially up and going.

As I posted earlier, my theme is: "Thirties Toys" and/or "Thirties Block Patterns" using the Retro Prints with unbleached muslin as background fabric. I also would like sashing between my rows and I am including it all cut to width and pieces sewn together, for attaching to each of the rows. I also have a few pictures of "Thirties Toys" I will send along, in case one wants to use them for patterns.

Sending blank Autograph Blocks for signatures and a small journal for notes. December 15th is just around the corner.

My row with Thirties Block Pattern .....

With Dog in Retro Prints .....

And Cat also in Retro Prints. Copied pictures from an old 1930 - 1931 Quilting Magazine.

Geez ..... One of these days I just might get on board and ride the same "Train" with the rest of you! Dang, it "sucks" getting old and you can't even catch the "Caboose" either! What's even worse is ..... I worked 36 years for a major railroad company in San Francisco, California!

bookworm 12-08-2010 09:02 AM

Just don't forget to post when you guys send and receive the rows :)

jacquie 12-08-2010 11:24 AM

betty, will you be ok to get all your row & bits done in time to post for the 15th?

Boopers 12-08-2010 11:45 AM

Yep, I can do that if I can get off this computer. My blocks are to be simple and I sketched out my quilt and it works out better with horizontal rows.

Ladies, Please keep this simple and have fun. I will be sending sashing strips with my row. You can add to either side until someone adds a directional row.

jacquie 12-08-2010 12:05 PM

lol, i know what you mean, i'm never off this thing!!
always looking to see what else the ladies have added!!
fun!?! that's my middle name!!
:D

Boopers 12-08-2010 01:07 PM

You know what .... I am introducing myself with words about who I am, my interests, etc. ..... sending a picture of myself in the small journal. Don't know if this will be of help for you, as an idea.

Karen 12-09-2010 04:58 PM

I'm so glad you all started early! Now I can learn from you are doing as a group. This is going to be so much fun!

jacquie 12-09-2010 09:18 PM

ok, i had a think and i've put in some pictures of 'Loch Lomond' area in Scotland where i live; showing the 'colours' as these are what have inspired me in making this quilt.
there is also a small poem about 'Autumn' and a few small drawings i've done.
i will also include a letter & pictures about me with the package.
sorted!! :) love jacquie xxxxx
(i'm happy now :) )

jacquie 12-11-2010 07:22 AM

well, my bits n' pieces are all wrapped up and ready to post on monday.
( 1 x 5 block Row, 4 x 'autograph' blocks, 1 x quilt label, 1 x Row Robin Journal.)
i nearly got them posted this afternoon, but realised that the 'post office' had just closed. it closes early on a saturday.
i had actually forgotten it was saturday!!!
dohhh!! 'blonde moment'... :)

*** a note to RNUNU,*** (Dayle),
when sending your parcel to me in the the UK, can you please make sure you mark the parcel as 'GIFT' on the 'customs label', so i don't have to pay any taxes on the goods that are coming over to me.
i've been bitten by this before in the past.

how is everyone getting on? it's seems to have gone quiet 'on the western front'...
you're all happily sewing away are you? :)

the letter & pictures i mentioned in the previous posting will be following, as my printer is still playing 'hard to get'. i will need to ask my parents to print it off for me.
i will write again on monday to say if my parcel made it to the PO this time.

take care all, love jacquie xxxx

Hi Jacquie -

I am so glad for the instructions about "Sending our packages as "GIFTS" .... I didn't think about this until you mentioned it, but yes it's true about International mailings and the subject of "paying Customs Taxes". This is a good message for EVERYONE!

Was just now getting ready to print off my 'Quilt Label' .... getting my box together and ready for mailing, to you. Targeting to get it to the Post Office and on its way Monday - December 13th.

RNUNU 12-13-2010 01:16 PM

I just returned from the Post Office ...... "Jacquie" my row is on its way to you ..... so be on the "look-out" for it, you will be getting it soon. Let me know when you receive it.

Think we need to let everyone know when we "receive" the rows/boxes/mailings .... that way we know if something isn't showing up or is lost in the mail .... we can start doing a search with the Post Offices.

jacquie 12-13-2010 02:39 PM

goodness, yes, as soon as we post/receive anything... let each other know asap.
exciting huh??
love jacquie xxxx

WOW ..... Looks "Awesome"! It will be a couple of months before I get your Row Robin, but having a picture to look at gives me something to direct my attention towards.

pattis47 12-15-2010 03:50 PM

It is a beautiful start for a wonderful quilt. I can't wait to see how it transforms

wow, that is loooovely!!!
very classy! i can understand why you all like these civil war fabrics & colours. they aren't as well known over here unfortunately :(
i'm pleased i will be involved with them!!
question, are you sticking with the R/W & Blue theme? or are we allowed to divert a little?
again, well done :)

They aren't R/W/ and Blue. They are actually Red/Gray-Green and off white. You'll see when you get it. I would like to stay with those colors if possible. I'm glad that people like my start!

deltadawn 12-16-2010 05:58 AM

Beautiful row maine ladybug!

jacquie 12-17-2010 03:25 AM

Boop, we haven't heard from you in a while...

Boopers 12-17-2010 12:35 PM

Ladies, I have been very ill. In bed for 8 days, I refused to go to the hospital. Feeling much better now. I do apolagize for not keeping in touch. My row will be mailed Monday. I will get it finished and post a picture this weekend. Will also include something to help with the cost of international mailing.
