Sent mine in. Been a rough week on the homefront. Monday at our yearly eye doctor appointment, the eye doctor was concerned with my 15 year old. He said his face was drooping on the left side. I did not see it. He then did some test having him stand with his eyes closed and he could not stand up right. He swayed like a tree in the wind. The could not march in place with his eyes closed. When the doctor did sould tests, Adam could not hear well on the left side. He asked me to go in his office and make an appointment with his doctor. We went the next day.
My son had an acoustic neuorma on the auditory nerve running from his left ear to his brain. He has been having headaches for three months and an upset stomach. Never did I relate the two to having vertigo. Adam said he was dizzy when he gets up but he hears people talking about being off balance. I told him that is at 65 not 15. Please pray for my boy. We see the head and neck surgery unit on Thursday. I have been told our options are radiation (maybe) or surgry. The surgry is 12 hours long and he will be in the hospital for a week and it will take two months to recuperate. He will have no hearing in his left year. I do not want this for my son. Okay, enough about me. Just trying to come to grips with this. |
hav4boys, It's good that you had the eye exam and discovered the problem. I'll keep you and your son in my prayers.
|
Hav4boys, please know that my DH and I will most certainly be keeping your son, you, and your family in our prayers. Please keep us updated on his condition!

You have to go to COMMUNITY at top then GROUPS, but I just went there and Lori doesn't have one up for January but said she is going to have a February one.
|
Hav4boys, I'll be praying for your son and your family.

The Community/Groups does not have a list like we used to. I haven't seen a list like that since the system changed over to the new format.

Fay, go to COMMUNITY/GROUPS and find "January Secret Pal Swap" and click on it, then look 4 Group Discussions and underneath click on Group Activity Matrix you will see where Lori said she will be setting one up 4 February.

I have decided to join this month. I've not been doing the swaps since my daughter had to have 2 surgeries. Looks like a lot of new swappers have joined in. Hav4 will be praying. We went through a scarry situation with our daughter and God brought us through it and all is well now.

Guess I'm blind. I when in there and looked at the older group discussions and I do not see the lists that shows who had mailed their packages and who had received packages like in the past. It used to be easy to find.

Have4boys...prayers are with your son, Adam and your family. I hope he gets by without surgery. My son's college roommate and best friend since they were in grade school had a similar problem. He is deaf in one ear from what he endured...I have got to say you would never know it. They are now 42 and have families of their own. God is good. Please keep us updated.
Toomanyufo's...so glad your daughter is doing well. Be well everyone. I can't wait to get my name for February... |

I'm going to do some shopping once I get my name. Oddly enough, i'm NOT happy about the sales. My favorite LQS that has been there since before I was born is closing, as are 4 other quilt shops in the St Louis area. Very Sad about Patches!
|
I'm in for this month. Just sent PM to Lori. hav4 so sorry to hear about your son. will have him in my prayers. It's always tougher to deal with when it's one of our children having a problem. Please keep us all updated and think positive.
|
I hope you got my email, would love to join in the fun as well.
|
I hope we don't have any people on here signing up this month that don't intend to ever send a package. The vast majority of us are great swappers but every now and then we get some stinkers, usually people we don't know.

Pure and simple, as far as I'm concerned, they want something for free and it's easy. I'd rather they just post and say times are tough, I need some help , then I just send them a package and feel really good about doing it.

Hav4sons, so sorry to hear about your son. Prayers and hugs to your family. Please keep us posted.
|
Have4sons, you are in my prayers.
Hope everyone is doing well during the wild weather. Last night our neighborhood was hit by one of the tornadoes that came through Tennessee. Everyone is okay. Here at our house, we just had things blown around and power off. Powerlines and a powerpole was down on our street. The subdivision that is accross the highway lost a few roofs. The most damage was done to the gas station that is at the corner of the hwy and our street. The roof was pealed back. Luckily, it happened at 3 in the morning and no one was there yet. The wind is still extremely high and it has started sleeting. Praying for you all. |

It is painful and hurtful to read that folks think newbies are deadbeats before they are given a chance to prove themselves and funny thing is I'm not a newbie and have been on here for 2 years although I don't join every swap there is. Put yourself in a newbies place and think how you'd feel if others made the same claim you just did about them regarding you. How would you feel than being told that you don't trust them to fulfill there obligation just because they are a newbie. I have seen some being on here more years than I have who don't always follow through or if they do a month or two after the fact you don't see "newbies" pointing a finger at them in a public forum. We need to be more sensitive about such issues and not point fingers at any one person or group of individuals without just cause to do so. If someone does not follow through simply contact them via a PM and ask if they are doing well and/or contact the moderator of the swap and see if they can find out for you. |
Well since I know that today was the cut off date for signing up, I - with heavy heart - am going to have to pass yet again this month. My Other Half spent a week in the hospital and we are dealing with all the extra visits to several specialist and the bills have started to roll in.
So instead causing possible panic for my partner -- I'm going to see if by chance if I might have enough scraps to start a scrappy nine-patch quilt once we deal with the next two days of all day specialist appointments. Just I am going to have to pack some hand stitchery in my bag. Hav4sons .... sorry about your boy. Will keep ya in my prayers. Tricia |
I am in again this month.

Looking forward to this swap again! Love those handmade things.........

Dag I missed the sign up:(
I will try to make it in the swap next month. |
Can't wait to get my name...I don't always send homemade stuff but I always send a package I would love to receive...don't we all? I think I have been a "swapper" for about 2 years now so I guess I am not considered a "newbie"..I am sort of hoping for a newbie so I can send some of the tools I have collected (especially the ones I have bought over and over again!) I simply love the anticipation of my SP receiving the package I send and I can't wait to see what comes to me...it is all fun. I am already packing up some stuff and will add what I can on my SP's "want" list.
I wish all of you were coming for dinner tonight. It is snowing here but not enough to mess up the streets and it is COLD so I am making a pot roast..it is definitely comfort food night tonight. I have a fire in the fireplace and my house smells like my grandmother is cooking in the kitchen. |

I am going to try this post a second time.
Ohhhhhhhhhh yeahhhhhhhhh today is jan 31st. totally spaced out todays date. I can't wait to get my name. On another note yesterday I got 2 (of my many) subscription mags in the mail Quiltmaker and American Quilter. There is an ADORABLE tote bag pattern in QM that I am thinking of making for myself (to see how easy it is) pattern says the experience level is an intermediate. Depending on what it is will depend on how I deem my experience. For tote bags I will say beginner. LOL Of course I THINK I have the fabrics picked out (in my mind at least) that I will pull from my stash for this. Might even add a touch of embroidery to it. Here is a picture of the tote bag. Very pretty, I can't make any totes or bags. I'm not a newbe either, have swap on alot of swaps. Rally looking forward to this swap.
