Just have fun girls and enjoy the process.

i agree, its the reason i joined the swap. i like sampler quilts that have varied block sizes.

its a nice break from the 12 inch with sashing.

here's my test blocks:

lol - i'll keep them both - the spider is a selvage block, and i messed up the applique on the lime candy - but you get the idea.

=)

The spider bodies will most likely be a variety of black scraps, and the candies will be all sorts of colors - whatever I pull out of the scrap bin...

Jennifer 04-21-2011 07:32 PM

These blocks are looking great! I have not start mine yet, but the spiderwebs will be in the works shortly.

cbridges22 04-22-2011 06:06 AM

RedGarnet222 04-23-2011 11:16 AM

Oh my gosh! Those candys are adorable!

quiltwoman 04-23-2011 11:19 AM

Is anyone else making 3.5 inch blocks? I made one as a sample but I won't make more if no one else does. Most of mine are 6.5 or larger--I could turn the 3.5 into 6.5 though....???

I'll get upstairs to snap a few pix later today.

I like using the 3.5s to fill in spots or I add a sashing between 2 or 3 and add along side anothr block or set of blocks. Just my thoughts.

fabric_fancy 04-24-2011 03:23 AM

it looks like both of my blocks will be coming in at 9 inches.

lingeringliveaboard 04-24-2011 04:47 AM

I think I'd like to do this, and I've sent the link to my sister. We both love Halloween and the fabrics for this holiday are adorable. Thanks for the initiative!

Hi Lingeringliveaboard,

We hope you join us. Let me know by pm when you girls are ready to sign up! We have some great people in this swap. It looks like you are a new user to the board. WELCOME!

Hi everyone! I am sure there will be a good mix of blocks to send to everyone. It makes it fun to have different shapes to work with while assembling the wallhanging /quilt.
Right?

cbridges22 04-24-2011 08:10 PM

RIGHT!

dd 04-25-2011 04:19 AM

I was looking for some patterns before I sent anything. Now after looking at the posted blocks, not sure mine will measure up. I want to do this and will PM later when I actually get some finished.

Do it!!!! I am positive your blocks will "measure up" - don't forget that the of us posting blocks now are 3 months early. (overachievers!) I am sure that my blocks will pale on comparison to what everyone will come up with by July!

Join in! The more the merrier!!!!

Jennifer 04-25-2011 06:45 AM

So I was looking around for patterns on spiderweb blocks and the ones I found would not look like a spiderweb unless you had several of the blocks put together. So I found a kaliediscope(SP) block that I think will work in halloween colors of course.

Also for my applique block, what do you ladies think of the witches legs...click the link.

Both of these blocks are 12 inchers, but I do not care about sizes I just want to make these!

I was thinking the same thing... I want to do this also... but have never done applique.... does it have to be applique or can I make a block with fussy cut fabrics?

RedGarnet222 04-25-2011 07:51 AM

Your so right jessica! Thanks for being being so welcoming.

Hi jennifer ... I love your choices! You chose two of the cutiest blocks! I hope you share them as you go.

Kat ... Of course you can do fussy cut blocks. They are really nice in the mix of blocks.

OK, got my first sample done.
I'm taking a vote....yes or no for this block?
I was thinking of doing the lettering on each block a different color. It measures 6 1/2" square.

Do you like it or should I do something else??

RedGarnet222 04-26-2011 09:19 AM

Hi everyone! You girls are really having fun with this swap. I am so glad.

Sewmomma Those are cute! They will be darling with some of the other blocks.
