My goal this week is to finish up last of the Halloween blocks and put them in the mail, so hold me to it :) :) :) :) :)

terriamn 04-24-2012 05:27 PM

I ordered some Halloween fabric from Keepsake quilting, it arrived today but will need to use 2 or 3 of them on the back instead of the blocks. Patterns are way to large. Oh darn I will have to keep looking for more:)

Here are some of the blocks that I have done so far. I have many more in mind, but these are the ones that I have done or are almost done with them anyways (I just have a few more of the pumpkins left to finish up)

Wow awesome Halloween blocks...great job Ladies. :) :) :)

marcialee 04-27-2012 08:08 AM

I have 3 sets completed. I didn't realize we had until the end of July, so I am going to hold them and maybe do a couple more sets.

sew1096 04-29-2012 10:30 PM

Beautiful blocks ladies. I am still in the planning stage. I guess I better get going huh?

kiffie2413 04-29-2012 11:13 PM

Well I have 6 of mine done, the other 6 are applique, just need to do the machine applique around them...I am usually a hand applique/embroidery gal (as you can see from my avatar pic..lol) for some reason doing it by hand is calming to me and I just enjoy it! As these are for the swap, I will machine applique, as from what I have heard machine applique is sturdier...
All of the blocks pictured are so cute...
Take care all,
Kif

Have not been on line for some time so just found the fun swap today. Sent a PM that I will start my blocks and will let you know by June 1st if I can really be in it. Been looking at all your blocks and did not see a one I did not like. Now to find my Halloween fabrics and see how many I can get done. I'll do my best to be able to commit to 3 sets. Last year's swap was terrific.

dove911 05-03-2012 04:51 PM

I've started my blocks. I signed up for 2 sets, but may do more. This is fun!

athenagwis 05-04-2012 04:43 AM

Hi everyone!

Just checking in!! We still have some time before these blocks are due, but remember, you can always mail to me early if you finish up early. :) :) We have received 2 participants' sets so far. If anyone needs my address again, just shoot me a PM. And of course we always have room for more if we have any lurkers. :) :) :)

Thanks everyone!
Rachel

Here are my 3 blocks. The ghost is made from glow in the dark white. I tried to do a dark pic of it, but my camera wasn't very helpful. For those of you who get the ghostie, washing instructions are the same as any 100 percent cotton fabric. He won't lose his glow.

SheriR 05-10-2012 07:48 PM

Such cute ghosts! How do I get one of each? LOL I got some Halloween Fabric fat quarters today. Now to find a pattern or two that compares to what I've seen... IDK....y'all have set a pretty high standard...

Love, love, love them! Especially the witch silhouette w/the moon...it reminds me of Halloween decorations back when I was little and Trick or Treating was so fun, and much safer...(Yep, showing my age, it was late 60's early 70's..lol).

I know whatever you make and send will be great! I was feeling just like you...then I just said to myself, "get over there and finish those blocks!"...:) . Can't wait to see what everyone has made!

How does everyone feel about embroidered blocks?

marybrace 05-11-2012 07:46 AM

Ms Grace, will be watching for the answer to your question...that has been one of my concerns also.

I have some embroidery on several of my blocks, I am usually a hand embroidery/applique gal, but for this swap I did most of it by machine..mainly due to the fact the rules state the blocks need to be sturdy and stand up to being machine washed. If its ok with Rachel, and it turns out to be a vote question, I love embroidery on blocks...so thats my "early" vote...lol..

Kif

dove911 05-11-2012 09:58 PM

Much cuteness going on here!

Embroidery is fine with me too.

athenagwis 05-12-2012 06:56 AM

Wow some great blocks coming along!! I just wanted to pop in and say that I finally made it to my PO, and I will be going through the packages I received today or tomorrow. So if you recently mailed to me, have no fear!! I will be sending a PM this weekend to verify that it is here safe and sound. :) :)

Cheers!

Ms Grace 05-12-2012 01:00 PM

Marcialee, your blocks are so cute. I hope I get 1 of each!

I'm going to start on my blocks on Monday. Going to be spending the day tomorrow at my 84yo mom.
Glad so many of you like the embroidery idea. That's what I'll be doing.
I'll post pictures when I get done.
This is going to be a fun swap.

kiffie2413 05-12-2012 06:37 PM

Oh my word!!! Those candy with the red heels and gloves on are too cute!!! How creative you are!
K

sew1096 05-14-2012 11:15 PM

All the blocks shown are fantastic. I love what you've done Marcialee. I have just about as much fun looking at all the pictures as receiving the actual blocks. :)

marytoddliz 05-15-2012 02:47 PM

I love Embroidery~ And I love all the blocks posted, I am excited about having a nice warm quilt to throw on the sofa for Halloween! Some times here it is actually cold enough to snow on Halloween.

We often get snow on Halloween too Marybeth. Even without the snow it is usually cold and windy. I always have a pot of stew or chili going on the stove with hot drinks so family & friends can warm up a little before continuing through the neighborhood.

Need I say that I love Halloween and always "over" decorate!! But the kids always expect it and also enjoy the full sized candy bars I give out. :)

kiffie2413 05-16-2012 08:03 PM

I have to agree, where I am in Texas, we get our 1st snow quite often in October! Back in the late 1990's we had like 13" of snow on Halloween... Also want to add I mailed in my squares today. Woo-hoo...now if I could just quit procrastinating on the "kajillion" ufo's I have calling my name...lol
