Hodge Podge (Stashbuster) 6.5" Fab Swap Sign-ups Open Until 11/5/13
Welcome to the 2013 6-1/2” square fabric swap!!!
October – December’s swap theme is “Hodge Podge” 6-1/2” squares, up to 6 sets. Think Hodge Podge from your stash, anything you want to get rid of from your stash!!! Anything goes!!! Registration is open to the first 156 Sets or until November 5th, whichever comes first. These are due in my hands no later than Friday, November 22nd. If you sign up, please follow through with commitment and deadline. If you sign-up and need to drop out let me know ASAP!!! Failure to comply with the rules of this swap will results in negative feedback being posted and possible banning from future swaps. Due to the private message constraints, I will be doing correspondence by e-mail. I have set-up a swap only e-mail address (approved by PatriceJ) at [email protected] (*Please use for swap ONLY correspondence) *~* Please E-mail me all the info below to [email protected]: *~* Board name: How many sets you're doing: Date when you plan ship your package by: E-mail address: Your real name: Your mailing address: *After I have received all of the info I will add you to the list of swappers and E-MAIL you a message with shipping instructions and a checklist. This swap was approved by PatriceJ. The link for general swap rules. http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-20154-1.htm * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * Each swapper will submit 12 – 6-1/2” squares of any 1 UN-WASHED 100% cotton fabric that is in your stash. Have FUN!!! *(If you have any questions please ask.) Squares should be carefully rotary cut from UN-WASHED 100% cotton fabric. If needed, please take the time to fussy cut. Fabric contains two selvaged ends. Make sure you completely CUT OFF BOTH!!! Select fabrics that will hold up to a lot of love, wear, and tear as well as multiple washings. Fabrics that fray easily or are fairly easy to see through are not good fabrics for this swap. Please be advised that fabrics that are NOT appropriate related fabrics, squares that are not square, off grain, those that are not the right minimum size, those with the selvage edge still attached, or those that are deemed unusable by me will be returned unswapped. If selvage edges are left on, I may return the entire set unswapped. Please keep in mind I have the right to return all or part if your set is deemed unacceptable…so please take the extra moment to look over your 12 squares carefully before sending to me. I will accept squares 6-1/2” – 7” as most of us will use them as is. Anything less than MY 6-1/2” measurement will be returned. If you are unsure of your accuracy, over-sized squares will be accepted as they can be cut down to size if need be... please nothing over 7”. Approximately 1/2 of a yard will yield 12 count – 6-1/2” squares nicely. If you are fussy cutting, please buy extra. * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * - * Here’s how it works: In your package to me you will enclose: ** 1 QUART SIZED (Hefty/Ziploc) bag with 12 count – 6-1/2” (up to 7”) squares of ONE fabric for each set. (Please DO NOT send a gallon sized baggie. If you send gallon sized baggies, please send extra for postage.) ~Fabric must be UN-washed, ironed and in quart sized bags for safe passage thru USPS. ~ Selvages MUST be removed entirely from both ends. Be sure to remove ALL selvage holes. Any sets with selvage edges left on may be returned unswapped! ~ Please remember that each set (baggie) should be cut from a different unwashed fabric ~ 5-6 sets fit in ONE priority flat rate envelope… *(confirm with your PO for price increase) more than 6 sets will fit in the legal sized or padded flat rate envelopes. ** Write your screen name ON your baggies along with SET amounts. For example, if I wanted to do 4 sets, I would write Yosamitesa X 4 on the bag in a Sharpie or pen that will not rub off or on a label attached to the baggie. ~~MUST HAVE NAME ON BAGGIE!!! If there is no name, you may get your own fabric back or you may get someone elses... ** INCLUDE YOUR REAL NAME AND MAILING ADDRESS ON EACH SWAP BAGGIE*** Should your envelope be swallowed by the USPS machines, they can get the fabric back to you, instead of being lost at the lost mail facility being played with by the mail trolls. ** Please staple (or tape) a piece of your fabric on the outside of the baggie. A piece of your fabric is required stapled on the outside of the individual baggie for identification purposes. (See picture) ***Also in your package INCLUDE a sandwich baggie or envelope with the following: **Sample pieces of each of your fabric(s) stapled to 1 small piece of cardboard/cardstock/paper/etc. ~The fabric must be big enough for me to determine which fabrics you sent in; approximately 2”x2” from your left over fabric is perfect. ~Also include on the paper your board name, your name and your mailing address (an address label works great). (See picture) ~My goal with this is so that I will NOT give you any of your fabric back. This helps me keep up with what everyone sent in as a quick reference, since I will have (hopefully) over 150 sets and a toddler who gets into EVERYTHING! **A self-adhesive return address label **Return priority postage of $6.00 – DO NOT SEND YOUR OWN ENVELOPES. Every package will contain delivery confirmation back home to you. This way I can track to make sure all are delivered. Please remember that if you do not send enough return postage I will not be able to return your swapped squares until you send me the difference. IF YOU DO NOT SEND AT LEAST $6.00, I will return your squares unswapped once postage is received. After 30 days, I will donate the unclaimed squares to charity. I WILL NOT ACCEPT PERSONAL CHECKS!!! Postage stamps, Post Office money orders, or concealed cash at your own risk will be accepted as forms for shipping costs (NOT metered postage as some of these expire before I can get the packages back to you). ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I need these in hand no later than Friday, November 22nd. A post mark no later than 11/18/2013 should give the USPS ample time to deliver without a grace period. After 11/18/2013, PRIORITY or FLAT RATE ENVELOPE shipping is recommended. After 11/20/2013, OVERNITE shipping or FedEx, etc. is required. IF YOU SHIP OVERNIGHT, CONTACT ME ASAP BEFORE YOU SHIP!!! International members need to send them to me sooner- PM for details. Please remember that any packages received after 11/22/2013 will be automatically returned unswapped. Any member not fulfilling commitment will not be accepted in any of my future swaps and negative feedback will be posted to members account per Moderators requirements. I will then sort 11/22 – 12/01 and will hopefully mail out no later than 12/02/2013 Any questions please pm me. I'll be happy to assist any way I can. Happy quilting everyone!!!! |

I'm still thinking about this one but I know you usually have your themes selected well in advance so can you give a clue as to your next swap?
Oh, did you find your keys and if so where? |
January will be next. Still working...but...there will be a batik next year.

I want to make sure I understand -- a set in a baggie is (12) 6 1/2" squares of the same fabric?

Okay, please be patient with me. I have never done this and all the info is making my head swim. I just want to make sure I understand all of this.
1. Any fabric I choose including childrens fabrics. 2. 1 set = (12) 6.5 inch unfinished squares which means there are 6 inches once finished 3. I then staple a small piece of fabric that represent whats in the bag to that bag. 4. I then also make a sample page that represents all of my bags. 5. All the bags adn the sample page is to be label with board name, real name, and addy. 6. along with all set and sample page I also mail extra baggies for each returned set and $6.00 in postage to you for return. I think that sums it up. Sorry for seeming so knuckleheaded but between the DH, 5 boys, life, and my not so well oiled brain things got a bit cloudy. Thanks in advance for answering my questions. Now onto sewing and doctors appts. |
I don't see where we need to send extra baggies for return mail. I assumed you would use the same baggies we sent the blocks in with. Please clarify. I don't mind sending extras but just want to make sure. Thanks. I hope to get mine in mail tomorrow as I will be out of town for 2 1/2 weeks. Birth of first grandchild. Hurray!
|
You do not send extra baggies for swapping. She uses the bags you send in with your fabrics in them.
|
Thanks Sustraley, That is what I thought but wanted to be sure. This is the first swap that I am doing. Want to get it done correctly and timely.
|
All correct except no extra baggies. Just 1 little Baggie or envelope that contains shipping label, postage (et al) and card with sample pieces.
Sorry I didn't reply last night. Had a raging migraine and hubby sent me to bed. Thanks ladies who stepped up to help. Y'all are awesome!!! Today my dad is having a total knee replacement so I'll be a little distracted. Quilty hugs!!! |

Yosemite, thanks for clearing that up. To all the other ladies that helped out thanks also. Prayers and good thoughts going up for your fathers surgery. I will get into my stash here, at least whats left of it after my raid for the quilt show last month and see what I can come up with. I will PM you once I have everything together. Thanks again for clearing it up for me.

mdall and AlvaStitcher. Welcome to the swap. It is a very easy swap. Cutting the fabrics for this does not take much time at all. You will get back many, many wonderful fabrics. I have a whole collection from participating in this swap. I am glad I joined it. Yosamitesa is a great hostess too. If you don't do 6 sets, you will wish you had.

Thanks ladies!!! It is a fun swap!!! :)
|
Sound like it will be fun and exciting to see what we all get! Count me in for 6 sets.
