I Spy Swap with a Twist Dead Line to Join is Nov 29, 2013

I Spy Swap with a Twist Dead Line to Join is Nov 29, 2013

Please cut your charms before joining.

Charms need to be in my hands by Dec 7, 2013
Will start swapping on Dec 8, 2013.

If you would like to be part of the I Spy Charm Swap, here are the guidelines. Please read carefully:

1. Please pm me telling me that you want to enter the swap. In the pm please tell me how many sets you want to do,name and address along with board name. I will then send you a pm giving you my mailing address.

2. We will be swapping sets of 20 charm squares, each 5 inch square. You may send more than one set of 20 charms, up to 6 sets. Each set that you send to me CAN be cut from the same fabric (or 20 different fabrics) . You should be able to cut 20 five inch squares from around 1/2 yard of fabric depending on the design spacing. If you send more than one set, please use a different fabric for each set. I will divide up the charms randomly and return back to you 20 different charms per set. At least that is the goal, and I will try hard to do that! (If you send several sets, please realize that you might get duplicate charms in return.) If you do the twist no fabric from your originals are to be in there.

3. Please send 100 percent cotton only. Prewash or not prewash is exceptable . Squares should be carefully rotary cut from 100% cotton fabric. Keep in mind that your squares could end up in a child's quilt. Select fabrics that will hold up to a lot of love, wear, tears, draggin', cuddlin', washing, and trips through the dryer. Fabrics that fray easily, or are fairly easy to see through are not good candidates for this swap.

Please be advised that fabrics that are not square, squares too wonky or too off grain, squares that are shedding, squares that contain selvages, or those that are not 5" square will be returned unswapped. Be accurate in cutting the 5 inch squares. The novelty design should be good size, not tiny...it needs to be easily recognizable from a distance.Try to have the character centered on the charm as much as possible.

Be creative in your shopping...it would be great to not have too many sending me the same fabrics! In doing this I've only had a couple doubles. If you want you could post pictures of fabric it helps others in what they will send. Not a must though. Please no flowers, lines, solids, etc. These will be returned to you. We need more children fabric. Trucks, houses, food, characters , sports, camping, lets did dig deep and send in different things. License fabric is welcome. Children's fabrics please!!

4. Place each set of 20 charms in a zip lock sandwich size baggie. INCLUDE your name, address, and QB name on a piece of paper and put it inside baggies. Please buy postage or concealed cash put in your envelopes. You just need to give me the correct postage. If postage is not included I will have to wait to send your charms back until you send the correct postage. I will provide flat rate envelopes they cost $5.95 now. Postage went up.
****Outside the US needs to add more postage for it will cost more. I'm sure when you send it you will know what to send. Please send correct amount for I will not ship until correct amount is received.****

5. The last day for me to receive the charms is Dec. 7, 2013. I will post when I receive your charms. If you are sending them from outside the US, please keep this in mind as it sometimes takes weeks for packages to arrive. I will divide up the charms During the week and send out by Dec 14, 2013. Anything received after that will be returned to you.

Now for a twist on the swap:
You can additionally send in 6 baggies of 10 doubles in each = 20 charms in each bag. So basically 10 doubles=20 with your name and board name in each Baggie written on there saying this is for the Twist. I will swap Baggie for Baggie. So those of you wanting to do a I Spy match quilt this is for you. Now you have to at least do 2 baggies in the regular swap to be able to do the twist.(( The fabric MUST be different from the original sets)).

Remember to send in what you would like to receive back.
Let’s have tons of fun,and of course you have to follow all the basic rules, found here.

I'm already hooked, and I haven't even received squares from my first I Spy swap yet! (October)

I'll cut them first before I pm, but I've got some really cute fabric I've found since I sent the last sets in: )

charlotte37830 11-07-2013 07:37 PM

I'm glad you are joining us again. Just pm me when you are ready. We already have 6 people signed up, you will make seven. Almost enough to start our list.

charlotte37830 11-11-2013 08:32 AM

Hello everyone! It has been suggested that we do a swap of snowmen, snowflake and Christmas charms. What does everybody think? I know some don't celebrate Christmas, so I could do a duel swap. If you send non-Christmas/winter fabrics, you get non-Christmas/winter back. If you send Christmas/winter, that's what you get back. I would only be able to it that way. I wouldn't be able to send snowmen/flakes, but not Christmas or vice versa. I would for sure get it all confused and someone's feeling would get hurt. If you would like this swap for this round, just let me know. I need a consensus in the next few days so everyone knows what's going on.

marybrace 11-11-2013 09:14 AM

I'm confused...I joined this swap thinking it was for I SPY and as suggested, I cut my blocks before joining.

Is the new suggestion for an entirely different swap? If some one is looking for a winter theme swap or Christmas theme swap, INHO an adequate lead in time should be offered.....

SheriR 11-11-2013 09:23 AM

I'm sort of thinking like marybrace. We wouldn't be doing an ispy it would be more of a winter charm swap? Maybe should be a different thread to lessen confusion?

Library.Lil 11-11-2013 11:30 AM

I agree with what has been said by marybrace and SheriR. I have no problem with a Christmas/Winter swap, but think it should probably be a separate swap. Some may be interested in both, and some people who aren't doing I Spy swaps might be interested in a Christmas charm swap.

sewbizgirl 11-11-2013 03:11 PM

When I signed up I thought it was for I Spy fabrics of all kinds, like the last several swaps were. Is the new snowman/Christmas theme instead of the I Spys, or is it a suggestion for another swap at the same time? If it's going to be a winter theme swap this time I will withdraw, because I don't have need for that kind of charms.

charlotte37830 11-11-2013 05:55 PM

Ok. I think we will keep it as is. I will talk more with Owlvamp and maybe just do a different swap for the winter/snow charm swap. We could run them at the same time. That way if anyone wanted to do both, they could do so and only pay postage once. Someone had just made a suggestion so I thought I would run it by all of you to see what each of you thought would be best. Sorry for any confusion I may have caused. I am still new at this. Thanks for such a prompt reply.

sewbizgirl 11-12-2013 07:12 AM

I think it's too late in the year to do Christmas... for this year anyway. By the time we got the squares it would be too late.

Any idea when we will be receiving our Oct. swap squares?

charlotte37830 11-12-2013 07:49 AM

Any idea when we will be receiving our Oct. swap squares?

Working on them now. I posted a fuller answer on the other post to your question. Thanks

charlotte37830 11-12-2013 08:00 AM

Ok. As for the Christmas/snow swap, this is what I have decided to do. We will have a side swap. If you want to do the Christmas/snow swap, it will be 10 different fabrics per set. I will swap these baggie for baggie so please only put one of each print per set. You may swap up to 6 sets. You can join either one or both the, I Spy swap and the side swap. By doing it this way, if anyone wants to do both they can and only pay postage once. If enough people want to do the side swap we will, if not we won't. I will do which ever everybody wants.

Once again, I'm sorry for any confusion I may have caused.

Snowcleo 11-12-2013 08:22 AM

Is it okay if there are one or two squares that are Christmas themed in the regular swap?

Library.Lil 11-12-2013 09:26 AM

Sounds like a great compromise! I will likely do both; am waiting to send a PM until I actually have fabric. Am hoping to be able to go to the store next week--just waiting for the little one to have a good day.

sewbizgirl 11-12-2013 03:51 PM

So for the side swap, we put 10 different fabrics in each bag. Can we repeat the same fabrics in all the sets? One per set, but the same fabrics in each set?

sewbizgirl 11-12-2013 03:53 PM

I'm putting together a "matching game" I Spy quilt today. I didn't have enough to do a full I Spy, so I doubled up and made it a "Find the Match" quilt.

Stitch124 11-13-2013 04:49 AM

Hi -- please sign me up for 6 sets of I-Spy squares and 6 sets of Christmas squares -- this is fun!!

charlotte37830 11-13-2013 06:10 AM

Yes you put 10 different fabrics in each bag and all sets can be the same. So if you cut 6 each of 10 fabrics, you can make 6 sets. I will be trading these out baggie for baggie.

I pm'd you. I have you listed for both. I'm so glad you joined us. It is fun. I swapped once and now I'm addicted.

sustraley 11-14-2013 04:04 AM

I want to join, but am also confused about what this current swap is going to be. I guess I will wait and see.

charlotte37830 11-14-2013 01:05 PM

This is a dual swap. The first is the regular I Spy swap. You can do up to 6 sets of 20. These fabrics can be all the same or different fabrics, it's up to you. The twist (you can do if you do at least 2 sets for the regular I Spy) is 2 each of 10 different fabrics for a total of 20 squares. These all need to be kid friendly since they are used for making I Spy quilts for kids. The side swap is a Christmas/snow theme. They can be any Christmas/ snow fabrics. They all need to be 100% cotton used for quilting. They all need to be cut into 5" squares. You can read in the first post that tells how to package and send. You can join 1, 2 or all 3 swaps.

If anyone has any questions, just post them or pm me and I will try to answer as quickly and as best as I can. I hope you decide to join.

Jannie 11-15-2013 02:27 PM

I would love to join, but this time of year is crazy for me so I have decided to sit this one out. I will be looking forward for the next one when things should be calmer.

charlotte37830 11-15-2013 09:29 PM

Sorry to hear that, but I understand. Look forward to you joining next time.

I'm sorry but the squares can't be flannel or flannelette. I will put you on the list for 2 I Spy sets and 2 Christmas sets. I will pm my address to you.
