They made it today.. Thank goodness.

dottie dodge is having the same problem. I believe she mailed them again and hopeful will be here soon.

sewbizgirl 12-06-2014 04:52 PM

Yay, thank goodness! What is UP with the postal system? AWFUL service!

I have all the blocks in now. So I will start swapping on Saturday and finish up on Sunday and try to get them mailed by Tuesday. I will let you all know. Thanks

sewbizgirl 12-12-2014 06:15 AM

Yay... thank you Sandra.

3 Attachment(s)
Here are three I just finished to send to England for Christmas... for my daughter's three little nieces. They all like pink, so I did one in pink and yellow, one in pink and aqua, and one in pink and purple.

Bullock2us 12-12-2014 11:40 AM

Very cute-I think they will love them-you did a great job!

Library.Lil 12-12-2014 06:09 PM

They look great! I love how they all have the same binding!

wendiq 12-12-2014 06:30 PM

Darling! I like how you pulled out all the special colors and then bordered them with the dominant color. I always just put all mine together....I may have to "borrow "your idea.....

sew_busy 12-12-2014 07:01 PM

They look wonderful!! Very fun to see some of the squares that I mailed in make it into your quilts!!'

Thank you everyone! We had three little girls who all loved pink and we needed to make three different quilts... and didn't want anyone fighting over a pink one. So this way they all got the same amount of pink on their quilts.

I usually just put all my squares together too, wendig.

I was hoping some of you might recognize some of your blocks from past swaps...

It's HARD to find I spy fabrics (novelties) in purple. And when you do, they have butterflies most likely, or faries. Not a lot of variety in purple novelties, if you can even find them.

owlvamp 12-13-2014 02:38 PM

I love all three. Thanks for sharing.

owlvamp 12-15-2014 07:57 AM

Okay all the packages went out this morning. Good thing I went early and stood in line for 25 minutes.. It was a long line behind me.. So be on the look out and we will take off January and start back up in February or March. if you all still want to continue... I'm sure we just didn't have enough players do to the holidays... Will see.

Maybe we should do every other month. What do you all think?

Thanks Sandra... those long lines are why I get my shipping labels online and then just leave packages in the mailbox, or drop off at the P.O. It costs you a little printing ink and paper, but they give you a discount on the postage so it kind of all balances out. So much more convenient! :)

So now we have a surprise coming in the mail! Just like Christmas!

Every other month sounds good, especially if not enough people are participating. I would be fine with that. Easier on you, too.

Merry Christmas!

Bullock2us 12-16-2014 05:15 AM

Every other month would be fine by me. I think people were busy for the holidays. I love this swap and will start my search for new fabrics for it after the holidays. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to everyone!!!!

Judith1005 12-17-2014 06:27 PM

Owlie, thank you. I received my charms today. All I can say, is I got a wonderful variety and can't wait to meet up again in the new year. I really can't wait to start on one of these. But, alas, I have a baby quilt top to finish first. Sewbizgirl, yours were a great inspiration. Thank you for sharing them. They are great!

sewbizgirl 12-18-2014 11:27 AM

Awww...glad to help enable! Er, I mean "inspire". ;)

wendiq 12-18-2014 06:33 PM

I received mine yesterday, too, and Owlie, I thank you for all your work! I won't get to these for a while, but when I do, it will be fun! : )!!!

sewbizgirl 12-19-2014 10:45 AM

Got my package... yay! Some cute squares in there. My son's new fiancee just graduated with a chemistry degree, and I have already picked out the two blocks with the periodic table on them and made her a mug rug for Christmas. I know it will make her smile-- thanks to whoever sent those in!

quiltingdragon 12-19-2014 02:03 PM

I got my squares! Thanks Owlvamp! As soon as I know what the twist is for sure I will go shopping for fabric for whenever the next round is.

QuiltingNinaSue 12-19-2014 02:54 PM

Thanks, Owlvamp, I received the packages you sent. Will look at them soon, too many things to do,with the season to do what I want to do at this moment. Thanks for all the work you did on this project.

Bullock2us 12-19-2014 07:57 PM

Received mine too-Thanks so much revamp for all your hard work!

mrshalibut 12-21-2014 02:23 PM

"Maybe we should do every other month. What do you all think?"

Hi everyone. I was also thinking we could trade sets of ten instead of twenty. That way, we wouldn't need 21 participants to have no repeats, we would only need 11.

Library.Lil 12-21-2014 05:29 PM

I also loved going through my new squares! Thanks everyone!

As for details for next time, I am in with whenever, however often, and however many. How's that for agreeable!? The lower number per set is a good idea.

I would be interested in knowing the theme/twist for next time, if there is one, as soon as it is set. I plan to do some after-Christmas shopping!

wendiq 12-22-2014 04:37 PM

Since I'm not a collector of children's prints, I'd love to know early what the next theme might be so that I can shop accordingly.

I was actually thinking the same thing about 10 per baggy.
Any suggestions on the twist? How about super hero's, we could also do a all girls and then an all boy twist.

sewbizgirl 12-23-2014 07:31 AM

I'd love to see an agreement to send only *new* prints each time-- ones we have not sent before, received in a swap, or even ever seen in this swap. If everyone could agree on that, our swap would be that much better!

dottie dodge 12-23-2014 11:11 AM

Forgot to post that my charms arrived. Great assortment as usual! Thanks everyone who swapped and a big thank you to owlvamp for being our hostess.

PeginCO 12-25-2014 01:38 PM

Hi there! I will try to pay attention to when the next round comes around so I can hop in again. I agree it would be nice to get charms that haven't been previously sent - when I was swapping earlier last year, I did get several repeats...and since I do try to buy/search the stash for new fabric, it's nice to receive the same.

And Bonnie, I'm specifically going to look for purple! Hope everyone is having a nice Christmas!

mrshalibut 12-26-2014 07:01 PM

It would be nice if everyone tried to send one purple background next time! I've had lots of luck through ebay, if I can't find anything in the stores. I've found out-of-print fabrics that I never saw in the past because I wasn't looking for kids' prints. That's where I get all my reds.

Bullock2us 12-26-2014 07:40 PM

I never send the same ones I have sent before or copies of any that I have received. Some of us that have not done this as long as others don't always know what has been sent before and sometimes when people post pix of the ones they receive-I do not always receive the same ones they received. So sometimes we don't know what everyone received. I am always happy with what I receive and figure if I cannot use it I will pass it on.-Just sayin

owlvamp 12-26-2014 11:40 PM

It's true we do have new comers and they don't know what was sent or not. Plus there is some that can't afford to just go buy fabric for swaps and would like to use up there stash. No one can blame them there. The good thing with the same blocks or even duplicates you can pass a long or make charity quilts or those books that were shown or place mats.. Some ladies gave us wonderful ideas. If you can find different fabric each time that would be wonderful but the swap is opened up to all . I just like looking at all the fabric that comes in and touch it as it goes back out.LOL

rbwiese 12-29-2014 06:12 AM

I like the idea of 10 per baggie - that way there would be more variety - that also might allow more people to want to swap - could use up smaller pieces of fabric and fat quarters would work.

Might allow for more than 6 spots of all different fabric if people need more squares per month.

Just thinking out loud..........

PeginCO 12-29-2014 05:00 PM

Good point, owlvamp and bullock2us. Hope I didn't sound contrary... I appreciate everyone's efforts to do what they can. Love new stuff, but understand if it's not always possible.
