WOW! That looks great! It has been a few rounds since I had seen it. Thank you for pitching in sandpat :!:

MaryJane-I hope your feeling better. Still sending prayers your way.

And a great big THANK YOU to everyone that worked on this. What a treasure. And I plan to keep this one for ME!

I received my top from Elle!!!

Words cannot describe how beautiful it is. I don't think the pictures can possibly do it justice but I want to share with you the finished quilt top.

Thank you to everyone who worked on this. It really is a work of art and I thank each one of you.

It will probably be a while before I actually get it done because I want to hand quilt this one. It has the great spaces open for quilting.

I have included some close ups of some of the beautiful work you each have done on this. Elle's ribbon embroidery is the icing on this. I really am left speechless and humbled by all of your beautiful work. All I can say is thank you.

I have been looking through the 19 pages with my jaw dropped ... I can not come up with the words to describe how beautiful these quilts are

quiltilicious 06-11-2010 09:21 AM

I've been looking through the RR threads, amazed at the beautiful work... and I'm wondering when the next sign up is and how to sign up?

sandpat 06-11-2010 10:58 AM

The current IRR is scheduled for its last mailing in August..so the new one will not begin until after that date. There will be a sign up thread started sometime probably around that time. I'll put you down to make sure you see it.

I LOVE the quilts!!!!! Especially the black with bright colors. That is me,But I really would be honored to have any of them.

If you start doing these quilts again i would love to join in. You won't be disappointed with my work but I do a pretty good job. I've always wanted to do quilt go around. We used to do it in quilt guild but when someone decided to keep someone elses quilt, we quit doing it. Of course that was before they got to mine. One of these days when I can figure out how to post pics. I will post some of mine.

sandpat 06-27-2010 04:44 PM

Brenda, we'd LOVE to see some pics of your quilts! I put your name on a list to make sure you see the notice when a new Round Robin is started.

Butterflyspain 06-27-2010 11:16 PM

Brenda 5 . If you go to the Home page there are instructions on how to post pictures. Hope that helps.

This is just the corner of it. These are really big! I'll try to get a better picture after the rest of the family is up. I didn't feel like I could wake everyone up at 5 in the morning to share this with them. Somehow I didn't think they would appreciate it.

Thanks Tisha for giving me the privilege of working on this.

How do you make the fence rail?? Is there a pattern to it? It is wonderful!!

Hopefully the texture shows. I made rows of tucks with ribbons inside then stitched it down and flipped it around and stitched it the other way.

Maybe not the best picture And the edges really are straight they just aren't laying straight in the picture.

How did you do this technique??? I LOVE IT!!!! You are sooo talented!!

To make the fence I strip pieced the little pieces and just figured how much space I had to work with and divided it into 5 unequal spaces. To make my math easier I had my middle piece smaller than the top and bottom pieces.

For the main white parts of the fence I did basically a flying geese at the top.

If you want a picture tute I can do that.

To do the rows of tucks I took the width of the border I was making and doubled it. For this I used 3 different fabrics and I did each fabric by itself then sewed it all together.

I believe my tucks were each 1 inch deep although you could do them however deep you wanted them. I measured in from one of the long sides 1 1/4 inch and pressed it the full length to the right side. From the fold I measured 1 inch and pressed it to the wrong side. I measured down from that fold 2 inches and pressed it to the right side. Measure 1 inch from that fold and press to the wrong side. Going back and forth until you have folded your whole fabric. For mine I had 3 tucks for each fabric. You should have 1/4 inch past the last fold to allow for seam allowance.

I added the ribbon down the middle of each tuck. The ribbon should be laying flat but it does need to be pretty on both sides of the ribbon because when you sew it you will see the backside of it.

With everything laying nice and flat (I used my big irnoning board) mark at regular intervals where you want to stitch. I went through and stitched every other one with it laying flat. Then you go back and stitch the every other one that is left going the opposite way which will make it stand up.

Again, if you would like me to do a picture tute I would be glad to do that.

Thanks,
Mary

sandpat 07-23-2010 04:41 PM

 Love doing those tutes do ya' Mary??? You know...of course we want a tute!! I would love to figure out the ribbon one. I think I know based on your description and could figure it out, but, well...a picture is always better

mary quite contrary 07-23-2010 04:59 PM

I am happy to share but I need a little time. I should take a picture of my sewing room. My DD & family just left and what a mess the DGDs left in my sewing room.

I'll do it hopefully the beginning of next week.

sandpat 07-23-2010 05:19 PM

Don't stress yourself over it Mary...just when you have nothing else to do...

mary quite contrary 07-23-2010 05:35 PM

That would be never. I'll do it.

It's done! I will be putting it in the mail this afternoon. This was a fun one for me. I wanted to kind of blend in with center "God's Eye" so I thought the doves of peace would work. My first thought was to use black as a back ground but glad I found the purple material.
