I got Judy's 6th round done this afternoon and will be mailing it to her Monday when I go into town. I decided that there were so many interesting rounds that it would be too busy if I tried doing another pattern and the top really needed a solid outer border. Since the center block had a brownish background I elected to use a brown last border. I just love the tulips and all of the other rounds. Can't wait to see how Judy will be quilting it. I took the picture in my kitchen and the skylight kind of made a rectangle but I was afraid if I waited to take the picture when the sun was not shining I would not have enough light to show off all the other beautiful work.

Barb, great job! I bet Judy will just love that, she has lots of beautiful room to quilt though. :D

Ducky 07-20-2009 12:23 PM

That looks beautiful! I like the brown outer border - it adds a nice touch.

collettakay 07-21-2009 07:50 AM

OK, now that the B&W blocks are out the door I'm ready to put the last round on Texasquilts' quilt. ( I think that is who it belongs to.) I've had it planned and the fabric for it for a few weeks and no time to work on it. It is now at the top of the list.

sandpat 07-21-2009 03:15 PM

So glad to hear someone is like me....lots of plans, very little time to work on them!

tlrnhi 07-21-2009 08:33 PM

I just got a beautiful package that Elle sent!
Now, what to do, what to do.
I KNOW!! KEEP IT!!!
Patti, it is beautiful!
I'm not sure what I am going to do to it, but rest assured, it'll look pretty in my house :) :)

sandpat 07-22-2009 03:53 AM

Hey....I know that won't happen  I'm glad my baby is one step closer to home. I know she is beautiful! So......I can't wait to see what you add!!!

I'm going to add it to the top of my bed.
I think it will look perfect there!
Laying there, overlooking the balcony, staring at the ocean.
What else could a quilt top want? lol

sandpat 07-22-2009 04:21 AM

I think it will need at least my 4 house cats to sleep on it!! You don't have enough cats! And...it will need good growing weather and farm land...it is a grape arbor you know...grapes don't grow good near salt water.

Big Boy is the size of 3 cats, so him plus Monique equals 4.
Sure grapes grow near the ocean. Have you never heard of SEA GRAPES? Silly girl! I used to pick them all the time in Hawaii!

Oh, and let me tell you....what Elle did to it? Pictures DO NOT do it justice! To see it in person...OMG! AWESOME, SIMPLY AWESOME!!
I want to be her when I grow up!

sandpat 07-22-2009 04:36 AM

You can tell the pics aren't great of Elle's work. It would be hard to take a pic of what she did...I just can't wait!!!!!! (And Big boy does not qualify for 3 cats...you'll hurt his feeling is you don't be careful!)

tlrnhi 07-22-2009 04:40 AM

Nah, he knows I love him.
Right now he's outside trying to catch a Praying Mantis.

I'll try to get a GOOD pic of the quilt for you.
Will have to have 2 people hold it...it's big!
I just love it! Are you sure you won't let me keep it?
Just for safe keeping? ;)

Butterflyspain 07-22-2009 05:51 AM

:D :D :D Glad it arrived safely, that time didnīt take too long at all Terri.

Glad you like it, no I take rotten pics, never was any good with a camera.

Elle

It actually came on Monday, but since I had to sign for it and wasn't home, I had to go to the post office to pick it up.
Yesterday was Guam Liberation Day and the street near the post office was a mess. There was NO WAY I was going anywhere NEAR that area, so had to wait until today to pick it up.
I had other errands to run and while I was out of the van, I tucked it up under the seat so it couldn't be seen and no one could break in and steal it. :)
It sure is beautiful and Elle, you did an awesome job. Don't know WHAT I am going to do with it. Well, I think I do, but not sure. Maybe a "plain" border as not to interfere with the ribbons you put on, then "anchor" blocks with grapes. That was my first thought, but I dunno. I have to get it layed out so I can see the entire thing. Haven't had 2 people around to hold it up for me yet. I tried to lay it on the carpet, but 2 cats wanted to see it too. lol

Ducky 07-22-2009 06:14 AM

***holding my breath, waiting to see a picture***

Ok, I finally got some pics of Patti's center.
I didn't have anyone to help me hold it up, so I draped it over my chair.

a better view of Elle's border

It's ribbon art. Beautiful, huh? I just love it!
Now you see WHY I'm going to have a hard time sending it back to Patti??

Ninnie 07-26-2009 06:19 AM

WOW!!!That is absolutely beautiful!!!
I love all the flowers!! I will never live long enough to produce something like that! But have found enough inspiration to get me to want to keep learning!

So glad you showed it in such detail.

unbelievable work! Stunning!

Lacelady 07-26-2009 06:23 AM

That is one beautiful quilt, I can see why you don't want to part with it.

kluedesigns 07-26-2009 07:03 AM

i'm sorry, i never looked at these threads until i learned about the new RRII.

Esqmommy 07-26-2009 07:34 AM

That ribbon art is fabulous...I see a new class I'll be searching for. Terri - if I were you I'd just keep it - RR be darned!!! :)

ME DO THAT??? LMAO!! I may be good, but not THAT good. That is Elle's contribution.

Esqmommy...If Patti comes after me and I end up needed someone to defend me, will you take the job as my defense?

I TRY to make sure ALL signs of cat are off the tops if one or both of them get on it. This one is actually the first one that Monique has REFUSED to get off of. I think she likes Elle's scent. lol

sandpat 07-26-2009 05:04 PM

Terri...a little cat hair will be just fine...afterall, I have 4 in the house! My quilts all have that wonderful cat hair "patina". Could it be that Monique just has great taste? I don't blame her for wanting to be near that beauty...and its mine!!!

I couldn't believe her! She started "digging" at it like she was trying to make it more comfy to lay down on. She DID NOT like it when I grabbed her, told her NO! and tossed her on the couch. She jumped right back on it!
You will be glad to know that I have the fabric for your border. I stood in Ben Franklins for about an hour deliberating over what to do and what fabric to use. The ladies there LOVE it! They said I did a great job on it. lol I told them, thank you...but NONE of the work on it is mine yet. They are VERY impressed with the applique on it and had to check out EVERY flower that Elle put on it. That amazed them all!
So, giving them my ideas, drawing it out on paper to show them what I was talking about, they all agreed that it has to be something simple or "the eye" would be drawn away from the "theme" of the top. So, I am going to go with my original thought. I have THE PERFECT fabric...had to buy ALL of it because I wanted to make sure I had enough. There was only 4 yards of it, so I willl have to cut it on the length instead of the width, which is much better for me.....NO SEAMS in the middle of the border! :) :)

sandpat 07-27-2009 04:52 AM

WoooHOooooo.....no seams in the borders!!! I can't wait, sounds like a great plan to me. I'll have to come up with some fabulous quilting plan (as if...  ) But, I'll come up with something!!

tlrnhi 07-27-2009 05:03 AM

Oh, well if you don't have a quilting plan for it, then I just might as well keep it! Sheesh! I THOUGHT you had a plan!

Ducky 07-27-2009 06:46 AM

Elle's work is just.....incredible (wish there was a better word). Wow. Terri, I really like the idea of a border without seams in the middle. Great thinking. So, after Elle teaches you how to do the ribbon work, you can just tootle on over to Colorado, we'll get a cabin in the mountains and you can teach me!

sandpat 07-27-2009 04:53 PM

Ducky....maybe she can toddle over and teach the both of us! I'll waddle to Colorado to meet up with you guys. I might have to do that to get my top back from Terri! (And I do have a "kinda" plan...does that count?)
