What if after Elle teaches me, you both waddle over to VA (hope we are still going there) and we can have fun doing it. :)

Oh no Patti....Kinda Plan doesn't work either.

I am going to tell you tho....the last border going on will be sort of a simple one. That way, it will tie the entire quilt together, but not "take away" from any other border.
On second thought.....I'm just going to keep it. No sense it sending it out. I think it looks really pretty spread over my chair, don't you think?

Oh, Patti.....meant to tell you...don't worry about "claw marks" from Monique trying to dig. She's got no claws. Silly girl, had she listened to mommy, would have been able to keep them, but noooooo, so out they came! Hubby told me I should let you know about that just in case you thought there might be some little claw holes. I told him that you were probably ok, but I'd let you know. So, he's a happy boy now lol

sandpat 07-27-2009 05:25 PM

Tell hubby not to worry. I wouldn't be able to tell if they were hers or from mine before it ever left here  I like your idea really...keeping it simple. I just love it now and I'm thinking I could maybe do some trapunto work on the border you add? Thinking maybe some groups of grapes and maybe some vines??? You see this would be in a lifetime when I have time to devote to finish it though

While it looks plenty nice on your chair, I think it will look tons better on mine!

Esqmommy 07-27-2009 06:11 PM

That ribbon art is fabulous...I see a new class I'll be searching for. Terri - if I were you I'd just keep it - RR be darned!!!
Esqmommy...If Patti comes after me and I end up needed someone to defend me, will you take the job as my defense?

I got your back kiddo!

Why is it that I feel "ganged up on" and its MY quilt?????

And, you do realize that I have a "quilt alarm" set up and you won't get away with your quilt heist!!!!

tlrnhi 07-28-2009 05:13 AM

Go ahead and tell me it's your cats or you have a dog that will "attack" me. I'll have that dog on it's back BEGGING for me to rub it's belly! lol

tlrnhi 07-28-2009 05:24 AM

I JUST THOUGHT OF SOMETHING!!
I could grab Patti's quilt, jump on her horse and ride like the wind! lol

mamatobugboo 07-28-2009 05:55 AM

i am in awe of the beauty of Patti's quilt!!!! It is so amazing!!!

elle, you are beyond talented....and everyone else, you have done a superb job on it!

Patti, I won't even TRY to weasel you out of it...it is too beautiful to keep away from you!

tlrnhi 07-28-2009 05:56 AM

Steph....to see it in person is just amazing!
ALL of the borders on it are beautiful!
Patti is going to have one gorgeous top when she gets it back.

OH MY! Did I just say she was getting it back????

mamatobugboo 07-28-2009 05:58 AM

Butterflyspain 07-28-2009 06:06 AM

Hi you all, Yo are all making me blush with all the wonderful comments about my work. I will let you into a secret it is really easy, I know it looks difficult but its not. It grows really quickly as well. I have only recently learned how to do this.

Now how about this. Where is a central point in America where we could all meet up, (Its such a huge place) and I will come over and visit and show you what I know about Silk Ribbon embroidery.

Terri can you get a really big house with rooms for all the girls please LOL
We could have a ball and I would love to meet you all. Its got to be really late next year though or even the beginning of 2010

Elle

Elle, my house is ALWAYS open to ANYONE that wants to come visit and stay for a while.
We ALWAYS get a 3 bedroom whether we rent in town or live in gov't quarters.
I have a fold out couch (queen size) and 2 Aero Beds (queen size)....Courtney can sleep on the regular couch, so that frees up her bed. No problem, see?
Plus, I have enough blankets/pillows/quilts to cover tons of people!
No one would have to bring sewing machines. I have 2 that work right now and when I get back, 2 more are going to the sewing doctors for fixiing.....and one has embroidery to it too!

So, Virginia could be a nice place to go! :) :)

Butterflyspain 07-28-2009 06:14 AM

I am going to search for Virginia and see where it is (and to think I used to love geography) but America is just so huge I forget where everything is. Sound good to me. Wouldnīt be the first time I have slept on the floor, I usually do when I visit my daughter.

Elle

tlrnhi 07-28-2009 06:17 AM

East Coast, Elle.
Half way down the coast, right under Washington, DC

Yep I got it, looks like a lovely place to be Terri, you are going toloveit there. Its really near, well I say that, looks like it on the map to NY and Washington, probably hundreds and hundred of miles.

Been to Dallas and that was humungus, i couldnīt believe it and so flat, no wonder my friend went back there to live, she couldnīt cope with Spain. I went to Competa 2 days ago on 5 Kms of road I counted 65 bends, all with SHEER drops on one side. I can tell you my eyes were shut, I wasnīt drivind you will be pleased to know LOL

tlrnhi 07-28-2009 06:31 AM

Those are the roads that when hubby is driving, I make sure I have something to do so I don't look lol

mamatobugboo 07-28-2009 10:00 AM

MN is very central, if not a bit north! I can kick my family out for the weekend so I have 2 twins, a pull out couch, and a queen size bed....plus LOTS of floor space for pallets!

I must have missed the post Terri, you are moving to VA? We are going to to DC/VA/MD next summer or spring probably to visit family and friends. DC is really neat - used to live in Philadelphia and traveled between Atlanta, NC and Philly all the time along I-95. We were so close to DC that we had school fieldtrips there!

Butterflyspain 07-28-2009 11:27 AM

Steph, I love the way you all talk about going to different places. Just googled it and its only 12 miles between Langley VA and Washington. I thought it would be 100īs of miles in between.

That interesting.

Elle

mamatobugboo 07-28-2009 01:46 PM

nope, you can hop on Amtrak (the only nationwide train system) and go all up and down the Mid-Atlantic coast (Maryland to NYC) and even to New England (Boston area) in no time at all. Driving is tons of fun, but can take a while due to traffic!

tlrnhi 07-28-2009 01:51 PM

Yes Steph,,,,hopefully VA. Should be springtime.
It'll be Little Creek/Norfolk area.
Elle, that's a bit further south from DC, a couple hours.

Hey! I just got another great idea!
Instead of me sending Patti her top back, I can just hang on to it and when I move, I can deliver it to her in person. Then we wouldn't have to worry about the mail! :) :) :)

collettakay 07-28-2009 03:34 PM

OH, OH, Viriginia would be great for me!!! We're going down the coast in September to Parris Island, SC. My cousin is graduating Marine boot camp. We're stopping off in Williamsburg, VA for a day on the way down to do some sight seeing and to break up the drive.

We went to Viriginia Beach for my senior trip and I've driven the whole way down the east coast to my aunt's house in Daytona, FL. I've also taken the Amtrak to Daytona. I remember freezing to death during the night on the train. It got so cold we covered up with our beach towels.

Hope you move to VA, Terri!

On certain days, I think that might even beat the delivery time via USPS...but naw....you are MORE than welcome to stop by...we'd love to have you...but gimme that quilt!!!!

Oooh that train journey sounds like fun and a good way to see the country. I wouldnīt be driving, I find it hard enough with 4 lanes of traffic and in Dallas there was 6, you do those left turns real different as well (at least it felt different at the time.)

You are just going to love it when you move there Terri, you are going to wonder whats happened to you with all those roads. :D Sounds a real pretty area as well. We have a Norfolk in England and thats beautiful with water canals and boats on it.

Elle

tlrnhi 07-29-2009 04:23 AM

Well, I wish this Norfolk was the same, but it's not lol

There are some nice quilt shops in the area there, so maybe I could get some classes done or something. Sure will be nice to do some shopping too!

mamatobugboo 07-29-2009 04:57 AM

when you get there, you HAVE to visit Annapolis, MD, where the Naval Academy is. My dad graduated from there in the '60s and we went there quite a bit as kids. It is a beautiful town with the best seafood - and the midshipmen are SO nice to look at  !

The Chesapeake Bay is truly beautiful and the further north on the west side of the Bay and on the East side of the Bay you get the more secluded and quiet it is.

You will REALLY enjoy the area. Richmond is lovely and very southern, Baltimore is quite metropolitan after a revival the last 10 years or so, Philly and Wilmington DE are also really nice.

Enjoy!

Driving in Atlanta is quite fun - 9 lanes of traffic ON ONE SIDE (where 2 interstates merged) that we had about 1/4 mile to go from the far left lane to the exit lane on the far right - each time is was GREAT!! But it makes a difference that Atlantan's know how to drive. You don't slow down or stop, you just drive and the other people merging get to your speed and merge.

Unlike in MN where everyone thinks they need to be NICE and slow down for people to merge in...thus we have people going WAY below the speed limit and putting on the breaks in the middle of the interstate to let people in! AAARGHH! :D

Butterflyspain 07-29-2009 05:44 AM

OOOOh Steph, 9 lanes, OMG way to many.

Tell you what the Spanish would not do well there, they donīt indicate with their lights at all or very rarely. I sit there driving and I say out loud to myself," well give me a clue then", or more usually "pick a lane....any lane" LOL

Elle

mary quite contrary 07-29-2009 06:41 AM

In Nebraska they don't know how to merge. They stop! They stop instead of hitting the accelerator and merging! So frustrating!

collettakay 07-29-2009 09:21 AM

I have the last border ready to attach to Texasquilts' quilt and off to home it goes. Probably tomorrow or Friday.
