I need to start mine. I have a great partner from Down Under. Cannot wait to get started. Wonder what I will do?
Should I do where I'm originally from or where I am at now or maybe combine the 2? Hmmm...decisions, decisions.

978gray 01-01-2011 08:50 AM

So excited. I have mine all planned out, just need the time. Can't wait to get started!

buddy'smom 01-01-2011 11:12 AM

I hope to start mine this week.

KellyK 01-01-2011 03:41 PM

I'm thinking about using the place I've lived the longest instead of my current location. Do you think that would still be true to this months theme?

Sounds good to me. I don't think anyone is going to follow you around to make sure you live there. ;) ;) ;)

yorkiemom 01-01-2011 06:28 PM

My partner lives a couple of towns over. We're gonna meet for lunch to swap!

Short an Sweet 01-01-2011 06:43 PM

Oh my :!: :!: :!: I would need many more fingers and toes to count that many pieces.
I can't wait to see the picture

dettonlisas 01-02-2011 03:26 PM

Starting is the hardest part... hmmmmm

jacie 01-02-2011 03:39 PM

Have my dq packaged and ready to mail in the morning..... will be happy to see the new pictures s oon to arrive.. this has been most chalenging for many. but 227 pieces? wow. Jacie

jljack 01-02-2011 04:00 PM

Miss kwhite, Overachiever!!! Hahahaha....just kidding!! That's AWESOME!!! Wow, can't wait to see it.

I am still mulling this over. But I think I'm gonna do my area instead of my state. Bakersfield actually does have a couple of claims to fame...one being a busted up portapotty with a Bakersfield business name washed up on the deserted island in the movie Castaway with Tom Hanks. Anyone remember that movie? Hummm.....that could make a block, couldn't it??? LOL :-)

abonda 01-02-2011 04:59 PM

absolutly

kwiltkrazy 01-02-2011 05:00 PM

Oh my goodness, Kwhite I am getting excited. I haven't even started mine yet. I will start tomorrow. I think you will like it. I hope, I hope, I hope.

Boop56 01-02-2011 05:25 PM

Sending mine out 1/3/2011. My husband asked me if I glued all the pieces together. He said he didn't know I could sew such small straight lines. If he would of been watching me instead of football..... LOL

I am sure I will like it. Take your time. No hurry. I have to sandwich mine and quilt it. I don't think I will hand quilt it though. Too many seams to go through.

amalia64 01-02-2011 08:05 PM

you guys are sewing fast, I'm still thinking on mine have ideas.

abonda 01-02-2011 08:23 PM

just worked on my Jan doll quilt tonight. Have to applique it and then sandwich and quilt. I think I like it??

Iluv2quilt 01-02-2011 10:26 PM

I'm so excited to be swapping again! I sat out the Nov/Dec swap just in case I wasn't able to get it done with the holidays and trying to sew presents at the last minute.

I've been working on the central theme all day on and off, it's turning out really pretty so far. I'm paper piecing again and what fun it is! :-D

kwhite 01-03-2011 05:21 AM

This is my first doll quilt exchange since July. i am happy to be back in too. SQA kicked my butt.

kwiltkrazy 01-03-2011 12:22 PM

I'm very glad you're back and excited about our exchange. What is SQA?

Janis 01-03-2011 04:51 PM

I'm still trying to think of what I can do about Indiana. I had good ideas last year and used them. Right now I'm at a blank as what to do. Does anyone have any good ideas to share?
Janis

roseOfsharon 01-03-2011 05:23 PM

Neato!! I wish there were someone near me that joined in the swap!
But I did so enjoy the telephone exchange with Oksewglad (Gladie), we chatted for a good while and got to know each other.

Janis,
Two things come to mind when I think of Indiana:basketball and farms. Ok,three, and snow. I am sure I'd love anything you come up with. :-P

oksewglad 01-03-2011 08:23 PM

Doesn't Indiana, like Iowa, have a large Amish community?

Talking on the phone was one of the things I missed about the Nov/Dec swap. I have had great chats with my doll quilt swappers!

Janis 01-03-2011 10:10 PM

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone. I just wish I'd gotten some race fabric after the 500. I'll be sure to look for some this summer, in case we do something about our state next year. I've come up with a few of my own too, now. The Colts are in the playoffs again, but just how far will they go this time. Thanks.
Janis

jacie 01-04-2011 07:02 AM

I agree about missing the one on one contacts. I have made new friends by having swap partners that I can write , call, and email to. I prefer knowing the likes and colors of my partners., but this has been fun finding fabrics that denote particular high points of my state.

happy quilting. Jacie

Iluv2quilt 01-04-2011 06:16 PM

I just finished my doll quilt top, I'll savor a little break and then I'll sandwich and quilt it tomorrow. I am really happy about how it turned out. I wasn't sure there for awhile as I spent some time measuring wrong, cutting, sewing and ripping, but in the end I really like it. I hope she likes it too! :-D

Secret Quilt Angel. A year long exchange I did that ended in Dec.

Has the January partners list came out yet? I haven't got anything from Chele.
