Hi, Sue! Ive also checked periodically for updates but haven’t seen anything.
It is crazy times! We have tried to stick to the stay at home plan with few exceptions. I have a routine dental check up next week, and I’m wondering if I should delay it. My husband has gone for two haircuts in the past 5 months. I haven’t had a haircut since January. But have one scheduled for later this month. With Covid cases rising, I’m thinking it isn’t a good time to relax. But most people around me don’t seem to agree. I was surprised our county fair board decided to go ahead with the fair in August. The fairgrounds are here in our little village. Then school starts! Has me worried. Can they say the second wave has hit if we haven’t managed to exit the first wave? I’ve been cleaning and reorganizing my sewing room this week. It doubles as a family A/P and A/R room. Trying to minimize the overlap that happens regularly. It took me two days to get this one corner done. At this rate it may take me weeks! LOL Haven’t been very motivated to sew for some reason. I am still making masks. But not even that every day. Stay safe and well! hugs Bev I too am feeling that things are opening up really quickly & on a large scale. Our area has been doing well, but our province of Ontario, not so much! And now, we see pics of all the July 1st, Canada Day parties that happened all over, with lots of people, no precautions etc! I had an appt today so shopped for groceries while out. Very few people wearing masks, and some who were wearing them, was a waste of a mask. People - cover your darn nose! Yes it's hot, I don't care! The mask I'm wearing is for your sake, please wear one for me! I thought I was finally past the emotional upheaval of the early days of the pandemic, but for some reason, this week I've hit a bump in the road & having trouble focusing on the many projects I have going, walking my dogs, cooking etc. So yesterday, I thought it was time I checked out our site again, thinking maybe I had missed an update. I am so hoping everyone is ok and safe wherever they are! I'd be happy just to hear that our runner partners are hanging in there! So that's hint to everyone - just please check in, say hi! The runners can be done anytime, but staying in touch is so important right now! |
Hi Ladies,
Just a quick PM to say the the swap will be back this month. As we all had plenty of time to make runners before lockdown I will make the deadline for sign ups the 31st July 2020. So if you want to take part in the swap PM me and I will start a new list. If you sign up it will be a commitment to take part and this will be the final "ready to mail list" as we started the swap previously. I will keep you all informed of sign ups as we go along. I am looking forward to getting the swap up and running again. Hugs Caroline |
Hi Ladies, I'm not in this swap but I just wanted to say HI. It feels so odd not to be making a runner to swap. Glad to hear your taking care of yourselves. Stay safe and I hope to see your swap go on soon. I miss the pictures. Hugs Mary

Hello, everyone! I hope you are all still healthy and well.
I sent a PM to Caroline this morning to let her know I am ready to mail. I went with a night theme for the swap. I was inspired by the fireflies in our backyard. The past month or so, I’ve enjoyed sitting on the back deck and watching the fireflies blinking in the trees. It is amazing they flicker as low as the grass and as high as the tree tops. When I rock backwards, I can see the fireflies dancing in the night sky with the stars. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone’s table runners! |
Not long to wait now. I can't remember if I pm,d Caroline or just said I was ready to send. I've been busy this week sorting scraps I inherited, ironing, cutting into squares or strips.

Hi Sue and everyone . All's well here in Western Australia , though the State of Victoria isn't .Our borders are all closed and no Victorians are allowed to enter WA. Been busy making odds and ends to sell at our local craft shop

Sent Caroline a PM, have a daytime ready but hubby will be gone until next Monday so it couldn't be mailed until Tuesday. I understand if she says no and will just try for the next one. This oxygen 24 - 7 and total hibernation makes it a little difficult. Poor Bill has to do all the errands.

Here is the Fireflies table runner. It measures about 14.5” by 40”. I hope the recipient won’t mind that I’m learning to FMQ. This is only my second attempt. I just love the Wee Wonder fabric with children catching fireflies. I bought enough to make a baby quilt at some point.
Hugs. Beverly |
Beverly,it's beautiful and your free hand quilting is really good. I haven't quite mastered that yet. The fire fly fabric is gorgeous too. Well done

Well done Beverly,

Just checking in to see if we have names yet. Will check later
|
Hi Ladies,
Names have now been sent. Have fun and don't forget to put a note in with your runner to let your person know who is sending to them! Hugs Caroline |
Thanks Caroline, just have to take a pic, bag it and mail. We'll have pictures to look at soon. Beautiful weather here in Wyoming, another sunshine week for the forecast.
|
I have my name and address! I’ll take it to the post office first thing in the morning.
I’m glad you have sunshine, jaba. We’ve been rainy for days now. But I appreciate the cooler weather. We will be sorry to miss out on a lovely Mary table runner this round! |
Awww thanks Beverly. Can't wait to see what everybody makes. Good theme going I want to see how everyone interpets it.
|
Posting today. No surprises. It has a long way to go.
|
Love the Fireflies runner! Your FMQ looks great! I'm still a newbie in FMQ, not sure I'll ever feel that "I've got it" lol

It's so wonderful to see some chat here! It's been kind of a lonely board during this weird time!
I'm also really glad that we continued with the day/night theme, because I absolutely love how this runner turned out! I don't have any more of this fabric or I'd be making one for me! You will have seen this posted much earlier before the lockdown but I'll repost here today. This is the Dogwood Blossoms block by HollyAnne Knight of @stringandstory.com. I'm hoping the recipient will enjoy my attempt (via fabric choice) to cover as much of day/night a I could! :) The Blossoms are white/dark & gold that signify the extremes of day/night & the gold of sunrise/sunset. The back side is my representation of dusk - a gorgeous time of day! Attachment 627016 |
Very pretty Sue.
|
Very nice, love the black and white! Mailed mine to it's new owner yesterday, should arrive by the end of the week.
|
I love the B&W Sue and I've not seen that pattern before. Very striking. My runner is a night theme too.
|
Love the light and dark contrasts, Sue. The dogwood flowers are beautifully done.
|
mine was posted yesterday . I tried to do a sunset , not sure I succeeded though . Loved your runner Sue

Wow! I received a wonderful package today! A beautiful table runner from Jaba. It is very long (about 50”) and will fit our dining table perfectly. It is so bright and cheerful. I feel like I’m on an island getaway. Thank you, Jan! You do beautiful work.
|
I love it Bev. Jaba always makes beautiful runners.

My runner is in the mail to my surprise swap partner! Hope she likes it! I've missed the action in this group! Glad we are firing up again!
|
Glad you like it Beverly, with me having to stay at home 24 - 7, I needed to work on bright sunshine and happy things. That floral fabric always made me smile when I was sewing it, think I was dreaming I was about 35 again and laying on the beach in Hawaii. Like I said, "a dream" for sure.

Its on it's way, Tracking says they are experiencing delays due to limited flights and increased parcel volumes .
I hope it is not a long wait for my swapper to receive her runner |

Hi Ladies,
Lovely to see the runners coming in.... albeit slowly. We are living in such uncertain times and getting packages to international destinations is taking a little longer than normal, but we have a fantastic group of ladies and I can tell you..... we have never had a non-sender..... (you are all such a fab group).... so we just have to have a little patience. Just so my person knows...... yours went a little while ago, but it has a very long way to travel! It is great to have th group up and running again. I will put the next one up in a day or two so you all have plenty of time to get making! Hugs Caroline |
To keep us entertained, I’m sharing a photo of work I’m doing for my dad. He will be 98 in October! To put that in perspective, he was born in 1922.
Last year he gave me his ‘summer quilt’ to repair. A family member gave it to him many years ago. It has no batting, so lighter weight for summer nights. The backing has worn out and started to get holes in the fabric. He asked If I could fix it for him. I’m a little embarrassed he missed his summer quilt this year because I’m just now starting to work on it. I’ve decided to replace the backing. I’m removing the binding and noticed the Quilter used a method I’m not familiar with. I’ve attached a couple of pictures that hopefully give you an idea of how she did it. Very interesting. |
