Louise,

Panels most definetly as don't need any of the tape. Always open to fabric scraps with fusible as good for art quilts. On the rulers I have all kinds and have been phasingout my omni grids as need clear ones with my eyes so my other half gets those since he doesnt have much.

lawsonmugs 12-26-2011 07:54 AM

Hoppa are you close to finishing the studio? Can't wait to see pictures. Mary

Welcome to the newbies! This is one fun place to be at! We have a few "quilt stalkers" here but they are hilarious once you follow the thread. Hope everyone had a great Christmas! Now for the New Year's, does anyone have plans/resolutions? I plan on staying home and my resolution...is not to make any since I always break them! :D

I will be working on a Mystery quilt on a UFO Board I am on, it's just a small board 45 quilters and we have been together most of us for 5 years or so... I spent today finding listing my UFO's and need to pick the top 11 that I will get done this year.... I found 25 so far.... Also found a few things I think I may take off my list and pass onto my SP....
in the coming months...

Thank You gmloves2 quilt.

GM, you have to PM Lori with the info sheet filled out with your info. If you don't know where to get this, go to page 1 of this thread. You will also find the rules there. If you're wondering what to get your secret pal, Lori will send you THEIR info sheet when she assigns the SP's and you can pick from their info what you want to send. You can also make something for them. I try to get them what they want on their info sheet, once in awhile I will make something too. Hope that helps!

How about this? Send a note that says, "The snowball fight is on. You've been hit. How fast can you get rid of the snowball? Betcha you can't do it as fast as I did? Ha! Ha! Ha!

Now don't these look cute and more important FUN?
I am trying to figure out a "fun" way of incorporating
these into the swaps to be like Lori's cat earrings that
will be a "traveling" from swapper to swapper.

It would be a "SNOWBALL FIGHT" via mail. Don't know
how to do this just yet will have to think about it some
more.

Any ideas?

Quilty-Louise 12-26-2011 11:11 AM

HAHAHA

That is almost along the same lines as I was thinking.

But I was trying to decide do they ALL go to the same person
at the same time? or have 12 separate people "hit" one person
which will be HARD to work out.

I just know that I want to start a snowball fight LOL.

I need.

i bought a yard stick from home depot. sometimes the simple things really do work well. but diana you really could use a coupla more templates.:):)

i keep cutting mine up with my rotary cutter. do any of you find you have to replace your quilt rulers because chunks
(not nicks) are missing from shaving them off with your cutters? it could just be me.

Diana Lynne 12-28-2011 02:18 AM

Yes that is what I mean :D..I did forget that I also have the yard one as well.. Diana

HAV, you're funny! LOL I've never really took "chunks" out of my rulers, just a nick here and there. I thought I put a lot of pressure on my cutters/rulers but obviously you have me beat! :D

You beat me to it, I was going to ask that. I have a big nick in mine, of course the "big" ruler not the 12" one!

mooretll 12-28-2011 09:15 AM

All signed up. Let the fun begin!!!

Diana Lynne 12-28-2011 01:49 PM

Opps...My brain I think went on vacation..I totally forgot that I have a Dresden ruler :D..Its in a box with the fabric that I am collecting to make a sunflower dresden quilt..I was sitting there finishing up my daughter's oriental placemats when it dawned on me :o...Diana

lawsonmugs 12-28-2011 04:46 PM

Diana.better late than never.lol

leiladylei54 12-28-2011 07:32 PM

I've been using construction, engineer, drafting rulers. I buy my different rulers from either the hardware stores or stationery warehouse stores. I find that most of these are so much cheaper. Most are metal, too. No nicks; if anything, my blade on my rotary cutter gets nicked. LOL NOT!!! I finally did buy a quilter's ruler a month ago but haven't used it yet. I love my metal ones better.

starshine 12-28-2011 08:27 PM

I looked for the sign up a couple of days ago but didn't see it, whew glad I got on tonight and found it.
Q Louise,
*It would be a "SNOWBALL FIGHT" via mail. *
The idea that came to me about your snowball fight delema was this...You could send 4 each to each of your last four swap peeps, and each of them can send one in there current partners package and they can send one to each of the last 3 peeps they sent to to include in there packages.
You might have to pm them ahead of sending to make sure they are willing to foward on the extras in time for them to get to their peeps (and they would also have to pm to be sure they are in the swap so they can include them).
Another idea that came to mind while typing- 10 or 12 could send you a stamped self addressed padded envelope (I guess you'd have to find out what the postage would be via envelope size and weight), then you could mail them a snowball that they include in the package to their pals, and then those pals that receive in the Jan. pkg would send it in their Feb pack, then they send in their Mar. pkg.
P.S. How much does each one weigh?

Also I don't have the ruler tape when I was using my companion triangle to make my flying geese I used quilter's masking tape on mine. I have a 2 1/2 " by 22" Nancy Crow ruler and the aforementioned triangle, and a 12" sq. omni-grid ruler. My 22" has a chip out of it from once when I dropped it. No nicks from the rotary cutter though. I hope to add some rulers as time goes by. I like panels and scraps.

Yes Mary very cute tool apron!

Welcome newbies! It is fun.:)
