July - September 2018 Table Runner Swap

Hi Guys,

Welcome to our ongoing Table Runner Swap! This swap will run from 1[SUP]st[/SUP] July 2018 to 30[SUP]th[/SUP] September 2018.

You have until the 30[SUP]th[/SUP] September 2018 to make a table runner - the theme this time is... Freestyle/Makers Choice.

Size of Table Runner

The table runner should be a minimum of 12” x 30” if it is rectangular.... if you are making a shape (octagon etc.) these sizes do not apply.
You can use any technique/ any style.
All fabrics used should be 100% cotton.
The runner must have wadding and be quilted.

Sign Up list

There is no deadline so you can sign up at any time during the 3 months as this will be just an intention to participate. When you have made and are ready to mail your runner you can then sign up to the “ready to mail” list which is binding commitment.

But please remember that the only list that counts is the Ready to Mail list posted at the end of September 2018.

Ready to Mail list

An initial Ready to Mail list will be posted around the 24th September 2018.If you are not on this list you will not get an address to send to unless you contact me and get on the final listing.

Midnight on the 30th September 2018 – is the deadline to get on the “Ready to Mail” list. If you want to take part, I will need the following:-

Real name
Your address
Whether you are willing to send international or not (Please consider this as it enables everybody to take part)
Allergy info
Pet and smoking information
Email address

As long as you have a table runner ready to mail by the deadline you can join us any time!

Addresses Sent Out:

I will send out the name and address of the person you should send to on the 2nd or 3rd October 2018. You will have 7 days to get your table runner in the mail - No Longer. If you are unable to keep this commitment - please do not sign up.

You will send your table runner to the quilter who's address you get. You will receive from a different quilter than the one you send to.

This is not a partner swap.

Please remember that there are quilters of all abilities on this board and you should appreciate the table runner you receive as your sender will have worked hard to make it for you.

You are welcome to send some goodies in your package if you would care to, but please don't expect anything other than the table runner.

Please Note.... You must let me know when you mail and when you receive. Also, please PM the person that sends to you when you receive to say thank you and to let them know that the table runner that they have sent you has arrived - it is only polite to do so!

So come and join our fun.

Hugs

Caroline

I sent Caroline a PM letting her know I will be in again.

m-fay 07-21-2018 11:18 PM

I'm in again Caroline and I will pm you.

ube quilting 07-23-2018 03:08 AM

m-fay, I posted in the previous swap about the apple blossom runner pattern. If that link didn't work on my PC so I went directly to Rebecca Ruth Designs and found it there. I will go back and delete the other one.

I also have the swallow topper but that one a bit more involved. It does work up great though.

Hope you can give the leaf pattern a try. It has good instructions.

peace

Caroline,
Add my name to the list please.

m-fay 07-24-2018 01:35 AM

I got your message Ube on the last thread, Thanks. I tried to order it but I couldn't change the USA to Australia, so I sent her an email. She'll probly get it tonight my time and let me know. I did find another one called "beacon lights" that I could download....so if all else fails, I'll do that one.

ube quilting 07-24-2018 01:42 AM

It would be cool if they could send the pattern in a PDF. I am surprised they don't offer the patterns this way. I think I will e-mail them too.

jhr58 07-24-2018 07:25 PM

I am interested in doing this swap. OK for International as well. Thank you.

m-fay 07-24-2018 09:01 PM

My PP Pattern is on its way! I also got a fish one.

ube quilting 07-25-2018 03:38 PM

Welcome, jhr58. it is always nice to have new people play.

ube quilting 07-25-2018 03:39 PM

m-fay, I am so happy they were able to send you the patterns.

lawsonmugs 07-25-2018 04:39 PM

jhr58, Glad you could join in. Feel free to post whenever you want. We all love reading this thread and viewing pictures. Sometimes the pictures have nothing to do with the runners. It maybe flowers etc.

ekuw 07-30-2018 09:56 AM

I'll join again too-Caroline is such an awesome hostess :)

lawsonmugs 07-30-2018 02:56 PM

Glad you will be with us again. Yes she is the best.

ekuw 08-08-2018 12:32 PM

So quiet here! Everyone must be busy working on their table runner or finishing up other projects before starting :-) I actually have (2) runners ready to be quilted. Hope to start on them this weekend.

Northern Sue 08-08-2018 02:17 PM

Count me in please!

lawsonmugs 08-09-2018 07:42 AM

It is quiet.... usually picks up after a bit. I think I know what I want to make, but right now I'm working on farm animals blocks of the month.

Annaquilts 08-09-2018 09:30 AM

I will probably skip this one. My table is really long and I am not very good at odd shapes. Looking forward to see what everyone comes up with.

lawsonmugs 08-09-2018 12:16 PM

Oh Anna, you can make anything, any shape. Ya gotta join us. You know you want to. Come on...….

m-fay 08-11-2018 01:23 AM

I've finished my top. It is 31"x 13" Now just have to quilt it but I'm also redoing Judy's last mystery as a queen size quilt I'm about half way done.

Hi guys,

It is the Festival of Quilts this weekend and I am off to find some wonderful fabric for this table runner... I have decided to have some fun with this one!!!!!!!

I am also looking out for a project for the next swap..... so much out there I have yet to do that I am spoilt for choice.

Hugs

Caroline

lawsonmugs 08-11-2018 04:38 PM

I think I am going to try a new technique. Hope it works.

Northern Sue 08-12-2018 05:17 AM

Oooooh m-Fay! Love your fabric! I’m still browsing for new ideas & exploring my stash for a lightbulb moment! Lol

m-fay 08-13-2018 04:32 PM

I have got my pattern for the next (the one after this one) "Breaking the bounderies" my challenge is paper piecing. I have plenty of time to practice.

Linny 08-14-2018 12:38 PM

Have a question about this swap. Does freestyle and makes choice mean we can change up the size or shape...like a table topper maybe, or do we stick with the rectangular shape?

lawsonmugs 08-14-2018 02:39 PM

This month is your choice of theme and shape. Next swap is pushing your limits to try something new, like paper piecing scalloped edge etc. No theme this month like floral or blues etc. It's kind of a free month to go wild. lol. Hope this helps. The first page of this swap explains it. This is my understanding anyway. Carolyn can help you better. She is the host and has final say on it.

Linny 08-14-2018 03:54 PM

Thanks Mary. I read the words table runner and took it too literal maybe. I really like table toppers, the square ones especially. I'll pm Caroline.

lawsonmugs 08-14-2018 05:59 PM

Linny you can make it round or hexagon or square, any shape.

CarolinePaj 08-15-2018 02:27 AM

Hi Guys,

Lenny has contacted me asking if she can make a topper this month instead of a runner. Firstly I assume the only difference is the shape... a runner is bling shape, a topper is anything else - am I right in assuming this?

No, my question is, would you like future swaps to be a Table Runner/Topper swap? .... thus allowing more options to our creativity.

Please let me know what you all think.

Hugs

Caroline

Linny 08-15-2018 06:04 AM

This time the swap is "makers choice" so Caroline has given me the go ahead to make a Table Topper. They are fun to make, and sometimes just fit that special little table. I very much enjoy making Table Runners too.

ekuw 08-15-2018 08:21 AM

I prefer a runner. The rectangle shape personally works better for my house and preference. Not sure I would participate if I thought I might get a topper.
